Many studies have been published on the relationship between project management styles and project performance. In recent researches, it is argued that project management styles should be different based on project characteristics and these project characteristics may have an effect on the relationship between project management styles and project performance. However, there are few empirical studies covering these issues. In this study, we examined the effect of project characteristics (i.e., degree of newness) on the relationship between project management styles (i.e., team autonomy, internal and external communication, individualism orientation) and project performance. The empirical results using 78 government sponsored R&D projects showed that team autonomy has a stronger positive effect on project performance as project newness becomes higher. In addition, as project newness becomes higher, internal communication showed a stronger positive effect on project performance, while external communication had a stronger negative effect.

This study is intended to look into the effects of project managers' leadership on participants' individual competency and project performance. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to a sample of 276 researchers who are working on a project with a research and development group in private R&D centers. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the leadership competency of project managers had a significant positive effect on the individual competency of project participants. Second, the leadership competency of project managers had a significant positive effect on the project management performance. Third, the leadership competency of project managers had no significant effect on the project completion performance. Fourth, the individual competency of project participants had a significant positive effect on the project management performance. Fifth, the individual competency of project participants had no significant effect on the project completion performance. Sixth, the project management performance had a significant positive effect on the project completion performance. Seventh, the project completion performance was indirectly mediated in the effect of project managers' leadership competency on project completion performance. Eighth, the project management performance was indirectly mediated in the effect of project participants' individual competency on project completion performance. Based on the findings stated above, a combination of project management performance can generate better results in the effect of project participants' individual competency on project completion performance.

본 연구에서는 발주자 입장에서 PMI(Project Management Institute)에서 정의하고 있는 프로젝트 범위관리 활동을 범위의 기획 및 정의, 범위의 검증, 범위의 통제 3가지로 구분하고, 프로젝트의 성과를 프로젝트 과정에 대한 성과와 제품에 대한 성과 2가지로 구분하여, 각각의 범위관리 활동들이 각각의 프로젝트 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지에 대한 실증연구를 진행 하였다. 이와 동시에 프로젝트의 규모, 공급자 유형, 경험여부와 같은 프로젝트 특성이 범위관리 활동과 프로젝트 성과 사이의 관계에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구도 병행하였다. 본 연구의 의의는 발주자 입장에서 범위관리 각각의 활동이 정보시스템 개발 프로젝트의 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 실증 연구를 함으로서 정보시스템 개발 프로젝트의 발주자들로 하여금 프로젝트에 있어 범위관리의 각각의 활동들에 대한 중요도를 인식시켜 프로젝트 범위관리 활동에 대한 적극적인 참여와 관심을 고취시키는데 그 의의가 있다.

This paper is empirically to examine the effects of project manager's competencies (intellectual, managerial, and emotional competencies) on the performance for planning and outcome of NPD (new product development) project in project matrix organization. To achieve this purpose, we employ a field survey of project managers in project matrix organization and PLS (partial least square) structural equation modelling to test hypotheses of our research model. The results show that intellectual competency positively affect both of performances for planning and for outcome, whereas managerial and emotional competencies have not significant effect on them. Our attempt is to provide theoretical implications to current studies related to project management and helps for practitioners to develop a program for selecting and training capable and promising project managers.

Since the larger and complex construction projects are performed, project performance measurement is highlighting the importance to eliminate inefficiencies and plan to reasonable management practices. So many researchers are conducting research about the project critical sucess factor. But, these factors are mixed both management practices to improve performance and native project characteristics. Therefore performance measurement data couldn't apply to another project successfully. And the project characteristics affect project performance. But contractor couldn't change characteristics. This study provides a project characteristics's definition and classification. This study provides a quantitative level of performance improvement difficulty through out project manager survey. The contractor can estimate a level of performance difficulty through initial project information. With this, project contractor can more efficiently manage project.

본 연구의 목적은 PMO의 기능들이 프로젝트 성과에 미치는 직접 효과와 프로젝트 관리 프로세스의 수행을 통한 간접 효과를 PLS 경로모형을 통해 파악하는데 있다. 또한, PMO 역량 및 최고 경영진의 지원에 따른 프로젝트 성과의 차이의 상호 효과 및 그 효과의 크기를 찾고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 방법론 제공, 행정적 지원, 교육 및 훈련, 자원 관리, 지식 관리를 통하여 형성되는 PMO기능과 통합, 범위, 시간, 비용, 품질, HR, 커뮤니케이션, 위험, 자원조달 등을 통하여 형성되는 프로젝트 관리과정을 측정하기 위하여 2차 요인 모형(second-order construct model)으로 연구 모형을 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 각 1차 요인(first-order construct)은 반영지표를 이용하여 분석 하였으며, 2차 요인은 조형지표를 이용하여 분석하였기에, 반영지표와 조형지표가 모두 포함되어있는 모형 분석에 용이한 자료처리 도구인 PLS를 이용하였다. 본 연구의 설문대상은 PMO의 지원 하에서 프로젝트를 수행해 본 경험이 있는 프로젝트관리자나 프로젝트 리더와 같은 전문가 집단으로 한정하여 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, PMO 기능 및 프로젝트 관리과정 모두 프로젝트 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 PMO기능을 수행할 때, PMO역량에 따라 프로젝트 성과에 유의한 차이가 존재함이 확인되었다. 따라서 경영진들은 프로젝트 수행 시 프로젝트 성과에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 PMO의 설립을 적극적으로 검토해야 한다. 또한 PMO의 역량에 따라 프로젝트 성과에 차이가 발생하므로 프로젝트를 관리하는 PMO에 충분한 권한을 부여하고 경영진의 지원을 신속하게 함으로써 프로젝트를 성공적으로 수행할 수 있을 것이다.

SI 프로젝트가 대형화되고 장기화 되면서 투입 인력과 구축 비용의 단위가 점점 커짐에 따라서 프로젝트의 복잡성과 위험요소가 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 프로젝트 수행에 대한 종합적인 점검과 평가로 프로젝트에 대한 신뢰성과 안전성을 증진시키고, 각종 위험 및 역기능을 최소화 할 수 있는 프로젝트 관리에 대한 전문성이 요구되고 있다. PMO(Project Management Office)는 프로젝트의 수행을 일관성 있게 관리하고, 성공적인 완료를 위하여 지원, 감독, 통제 등의 제반 활동을 수행하는 조직이다. PMO의 도입은 사업관리 효율을 향상시키는 방법 중 하나로 인식되고 있는데, 특히 과거 프로젝트의 성공이나 실패에 대한 지식을 효과적으로 전달한다거나, 프로젝트 팀에게 프로젝트 수행과 관련된 지원 서비스를 제공한다는 점에서 효율적인 방법으로 인식 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 성공적인 SI 프로젝트가 되기 위해서 프로젝트 내에서 PMO의 역할에 대해서 분석 및 연구하였다.

The assignment of exploration on individuals provides challenging work environments, while it generates high levels of complexity. On the other hand, the assignment of exploitation on individuals offers less challenging work environments, while it makes low levels of complexity. Give the characteristics of exploration and exploitation, I argue that the assignments of both exploration and exploitation create the favorable work environments to individuals. Developed hypotheses were tested using a logit regression from a sample of 168 project managers in a R&D center. I found that a manager who experienced exploitation project(s) is positively related to higher performance in exploitation project(s). In addition, a manager who experienced both exploitation and exploration projects are found to be positively associated with higher project performance.

본 연구의 목적은 정보화 프로젝트의 규모와 범위가 날로 확대됨에 따라 프로젝트의 생산성 향상과 프로젝트 품질확보에 대한 필요성이 대두되고 있는 시점에서 정보화 프로젝트 성과에 영향을 미치는 성공요인과 프로젝트 성과변수를 포괄적인 이론적 고찰과 논리적 추론과정을 통해서 도출하고, 현행 정부(중소기업청)에서 추진하고 있는 중소기업 정보화지원사업의 정보화 프로젝트를 대상으로 하여 성공요인과 성과변수 간의 관계를 실증적으로 분석함으로써 성공적인 정보화 프로젝트 수행을 위한 관리지침을 제공함에 있다. 실증분석 결과, 프로젝트수행 적정도와 고객사(사업대상기관) 협조도가 정보화 프로젝트 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 정보화지원사업유형에 따라 프로젝트수행 적정도와 전략적 기여도 간의 관계정도가 차이가 나는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Quality of software development project is very important In complex and large domestic soft ware markets. CMM level certification evaluates duality of software development project at present. Therefore, software development company endeavor for acquisition of CMM certification, level up CMM and organization's competitive power But, today confidentiality of CMM certification come into question, an exploratory study undertake about difference of software project quality and organization performance between CMM certificated organization and no-CMM certificated organization. Two organizations different partially. First of all, incremental improvement of software project process takes precedence of CMM certification. It is better to fit between culture of organization and CMM certification for project quality.
