  • 지식을 재사용하는 온톨로지 모델은 재사용 수준을 높여줄 수 있는 지식 모델이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어의 재사용 보다 지식을 재사용하기 위해 개발프로세스에서 지식과 소프트웨어모델 사이에 관련성 있는 매핑을 만들고자 한다. 또한 UML을 온톨로지 모델 언어로 사용하여 UML 기반 온톨로지 모델로부터 시스템 모델을 추출하기위해 온톨로지 도메인 시스템 방법을 제안한다.

Automatic Merging of Distributed Topic Maps based on T-MERGE Operator (T-MERGE 연산자에 기반한 분산 토픽맵의 자동 통합)

  • Ontology merging describes the process of integrating two ontologies into a new ontology. How this is done best is a subject of ongoing research in the Semantic Web, Data Integration, Knowledge Management System, and other ontology-related application systems. Earlier research on ontology merging, however, has studied for developing effective ontology matching approaches but missed analyzing and solving methods of problems of merging two ontologies given correspondences between them. In this paper, we propose a specific ontology merging process and a generic operator, T-MERGE, for integrating two source ontologies into a new ontology. Also, we define a taxonomy of merging conflicts which is derived from differing representations between input ontologies and a method for detecting and resolving them. Our T-MERGE operator encapsulates the process of detection and resolution of conflicts and merging two entities based on given correspondences between them. We define a data structure, MergeLog, for logging the execution of T-MERGE operator. MergeLog is used to inform detailed results of execution of merging to users or recover errors. For our experiments, we used oriental philosophy ontologies, western philosophy ontologies, Yahoo western philosophy dictionary, and Naver philosophy dictionary as input ontologies. Our experiments show that the automatic merging module compared with manual merging by a expert has advantages in terms of time and effort.

  • 웹 서비스 기반의 비즈니스 프로세스 관리 시스템은 트랜잭션에 대한 신뢰도의 확보를 위하여 트랜잭션 관리가 필요하다. 트랜잭션 관리를 위한 여러 트랜잭션 프로토콜들이 제시되었지만, 다양한 프로토콜들은 서로간의 이질성으로 인해 비즈니스 프로세스 관리 시스템들 간의 상호호환을 저해한다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 시맨틱스 기반의 트랜잭션 프로토콜을 제안한다. 시맨틱스 기반의 트랜잭션 프로토콜은 상태와 메시지에 대한 정적 시맨틱스(Static Semantics)와 상태 전이에 관한 동작 시맨틱스(Operational Semantics)로 구성된다. 정적 시맨틱스는 프로토콜의 상태와 메시지를 Web Ontology Language(OWL)을 사용하여 온톨로지 기반으로 정의한 모델로서, 트랜잭션 프로토콜에 대한 상호 이해도를 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 동작 시맨틱스는 비즈니스 트랜잭션의 상태전이를 Abstract State Machine(ASM)으로 정의한 모델로서, 트랜잭션 실행에 대한 자동화와 체계적인 모니터링을 지원할 것으로 기대된다. 트랜잭션 프로토콜들간의 상호호환을 위하여 이러한 정적 시맨틱스와 동작 시맨틱스를 기반으로 하여 각 트랜잭션 프로토콜 및 중립 트랜잭션 프로토콜의 시맨틱스를 정의한다. 정의된 각 트랜잭션 프로토콜의 정적 시맨틱스는 중립 트랜잭션 프로토콜의 정적 시맨틱스와 온톨로지 기반의 매핑 관계를 형성한다. 중립 트랜잭션 프로토콜의 정적 시맨틱스를 매개로 한 온톨로지 매핑은 각 트랜잭션 프로토콜들 간의 상호호환을 지원할 것으로 기대된다.

  • Recently, we started a project development of the digital expert system for the product design supporting in manufacturing industry. This digital expert system is used to the engineers in manufacturing industry for the process control, production management and system management. In this paper, we develop the ontology based inference engine shell for building of expert system. This expert system shell included a various functions which of Korean language supporting, graphical ontology map modeling interface, fuzzy rule definition function and etc. And, we introduce the knowledge representation method for the ontology map building and ontology based fuzzy inferencing method.

  • In order to implement ontology data searching system, this paper uses some methods that effectively analyse searching options/key words with event process model and design pattern. I will propose some techniques on object-oriented process model that should improve reusability of system and reusability of ontology data which users can obtain more precise searching results. This paper shows that ontology-based data searching can assure users of the precision of searching results. Therefore, ontology-based data searching system on object-oriented design pattern is expected to show high stability and reliability, enhance reusability and scalability of modules and softwares and provide reliable data searching results to users.

  • Ontologies are the core components of the Semantic Web and knowledge-based systems. But it is difficult to find useful ontologies in actual domains. In order to build useful domain ontology, the conceptualization of the domain knowledge by knowledge experts of the specific domain and the specification of conceptualized knowledge with formal languages by ontology designers are required. In addition, structured and detailed guidelines and methods should be provided to be shared by the development team members. However, existing ontology building methodologies define and describe the skeletal structure of the whole building process at the top-layer. We build a useful academic ontology that is based on the conceptual knowledge structure in the domain of philosophy, and propose a detailed methodology to build a text ontology based on Topic Maps. Our methodology consists of two phases, ontology modelling and ontology implementation. We implement a philosophy knowledge portal to support retrieving and navigating of the philosophy knowledge.

Metadata Ontology Design for B2B Business Process Registries (기업간 비즈니스 프로세스 등록저장소를 위한 메타데이터 온톨로지 설계)

  • B2B registries are information systems to register B2B related business information such as companies' profiles, business documents, business processes, and services and to provide query facilities to find information about potential business partners. Focusing on the design of the registry for B2B business processes, in this paper, a metadata ontology is designed to register B2B business processes. In practice, there are several competitive business process definition languages such as ebXML BPSS (Business Process Specification Schema), WSBPEL (Web Service Business Process Execution Language), BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), and so on. In order to register heterogeneous business processes based on different representation frameworks, the proposed metadata ontology consists of three layers, common metadata, language-specific metadata, and interrelationship metadata. To show the usefulness of the proposed metadata ontology, two examples which are represented by ebXML BPSS and WSBPEL respectively are described in order to show how the proposed metadata ontology is used to registry B2B business processes. To implement the proposed metadata ontology using ebXML registry, metadata mapping scheme to ebRIM (ebXML Registry Information Model) is also suggested.

  • As the size of software becomes larger and the features of it become complex. it is really hard to successfully complete the project without following development guidelines. Software process is the best practices and procedures that organizations of high maturity and capability of software development carry out in common, and it is a set of progressive ideas of management. However, complicated and unfamiliar concepts can interrupt the introduction and improvement of software process of the organizations. Even though many kinds of frameworks such as standard of process and maturity measurement models are introduced, it is still difficult to follow software process without fully understanding their relations. The purpose of this study is to support successful internalization of organizations that introduce and use software process. It also suggests the design of standard ontology, standard relationship domain ontology, and the lifestyle of software process and the relations between them.

XOB: An XMDR-based Ontology Builder (XOB: XMDR 기반의 온톨로지 생성 시스템)

  • Much research on ontology has been done during the last decade in order to represent knowledge and connect data semantically in AI and Semantic Web areas. However, ontologies might be represented and defined in different ways depending on knowledge and intention of users. It causes heterogeneity problem that the same concept can be differently expressed. This paper introduces a XOB (XMDR-based Ontology Builder) system based on XMDR to resolve the problem. XOB creates ontologies by reusing classes and relations defined in XMDR. XOB therefore is able to either solve or minimize the heterogeneity problem among ontologies. This paper introduces the conceptual model and overall architecture of the proposed system XOB. This paper defines the process, algorithm, ontology generation rule that is required to create ontologies by using concepts registered in XMDR. Our proposal supports higher standardization than the previous approaches, and it provides many advantages such as consistent concept usage, easy semantic exchange, and so on. Therefore, XOB enables high-quality ontology creation and reduces cost for ontology integration and system development.

  • Ontology is represented by the shared concepts and relations among those. Many studies have been actively working on sharing human's knowledge with that of systems by using it. For a typical example, there is the design and implementation of ontology system for image understanding. However conventional studies on ontology-based image understanding have proposed not concrete methods but conceptual idea. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based image understanding system with following four processes: i)knowledge representation of a specific domain by the ontology, ii)feature extraction of objects through image processing and image analysis, iii)image interpretation by object features, and iv)reduction of ambiguity existing in image interpretation by ontology reasoning. We implement an image understanding system based on the proposed processed, and show the effectiveness of the proposed system from experimental results in a specific domain.
