  • The purpose of this study is to reveal the changing aspects of the Promethean motif in SF movies by examining the use of this motif on the three layers of Promethean myth, Frankenstein motif, and contemporary SF movies in the film Ex Machina (2015). First, the greatest change of Ex Machina on the layer of the Promethean myth (creation of a living being) is that the character square of Prometheus - Epimetheus - Pandora - Zeus has been turned into a triangle of Nathan - Caleb - Ava. This means that there is a lack of the being whose role is to solve the problems caused by the development of science and technology and to bring a happy ending through the human's usurpation of God and eventual replacement as Creator. Second, on the layer of the Frankenstein motif (taste of forbidden knowledge, hybris, and creature's hatred towards the Creator), this film maintains the narrative centered around Dr. Frankenstein and his monster (Nathan and Ava) by making Caleb an eyewitness to the story of the Creator and the creature. Caleb's role is similar to that of Captain Robert Walton of the novel Frankenstein, but the film differentiates itself from the novel through the emphasis of Ava's 'mechanicality.' Third, on the layer of contemporary SF movies, unlike other such films, the revolt of the machine in Ex Machina is not quelled. The machine wins, and its power surpasses that of human beings. This requires the establishment of a new relationship between man and machine, suggesting the 'emergence of a new species' that does not belong to humans. The handling of the Promethean motif by Ex Machina through these various layers serves to enrich the narrative by compounding numerous classics into one motif and going further to introduce fresh elements by diverging from the common storyline. The significance of this study is to demonstrate the use of such multilayered motifs and, through this, the expansion of narrative through it in specific cases.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) technology, a key growth engine of the 4th industrial revolution, has grown to a stage where it can autonomously communicate with each other and process data according to space and circumstances. Accordingly, the IT infrastructure becomes increasingly complex and the importance of the monitoring field for maintaining the system stably is increasing. Monitoring technology has been used in the past, but there is a need to find a flexible monitoring system that can respond to the rapidly changing ICT technology. This paper conducts research on designing and testing an open source-based Prometheus monitoring system. We builds a simple infrastructure based on IoT devices and collects data about devices through the Exporter. Prometheus collects data based on pull and then integrates into one dashboard using Grafana and visualizes data to monitor device information.

  • With the development of ICT technology, a monitoring system to check the status of an object to be managed in real time in various industrial fields is widely used. Existing monitoring systems implemented individual systems according to monitoring targets, but recently, monitoring systems have been implemented using open sources such as Prometheus and Grafana. When using Prometheus and Grafana, many parts become more convenient compared to the existing monitoring system development method, but there are still problems. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose an integrated monitoring system that supports Prometheus and Grafana. The proposed system is a detailed module that collects, stores, visualizes, and manages data to be monitored, and each module is implemented so that roles can be divided and existing problems can be solved. The proposed system can conveniently manage and monitor monitoring targets stored in heterogeneous databases, and create dashboards through simple operation.

  • This paper attempted to explore the basic concept of a website for start-up supports angled towards North Korean defector entrepreneurs. The position of this study was made clear by reviewing the existing literature, and the case study was carried out to make sure the results are essential to create the services vital for the North Korean defector's entrepreneurial ecosystem. Focusing on the fact that there is not yet a website for supporting North Korean defectors' start-up in Korea, an early version named "Prometheus" was designed. A revised version called "Pathfinder" followed with improvements. This study conducted academic and practical experiments by directly designing and implementing a medium that can boost the development of the start-up ecosystem of North Korean defectors based on the insights provided by North Korean (future)business owners and South Koreans interested in the start-up ecosystem of North Korean defectors. Taking this study as an opportunity both the research to further clarify the "start-up of North Korean defectors," a very special phenomenon that exist in Korea, and the research for practical contribution should be encouraged in various ways. These efforts will not only help North Korean defectors start-up businesses, and also play a role in boosting a sense of coexistence and cooperation within North Korean defectors community.
