  • This study investigates how framing and the interaction with involvement influences responses toward a help campaign. There could be two possible predictions about the results of framing. One is that, because helping is a risk avoidance behaviors, the positive framing would dominant or the other is that, because helping is mainly mediated by negative emotions such as sadness or guilty, the negative framing would be preferred. The present research was to solve the conflicting predictions and was conducted with a experimental design. The participants were exposed to a campaign emphasizing either positive aspects of the help or negative contexts which would be maintained without any help. The results were that the main effect of framing was not existent, but the significant interaction with involvement on responses was found. The interaction of framing and involvement, though, included unexpected inconsistency between the results of attitude and behavioral intention. The theoretical and practical meanings of the results were discussed.

  • This study examined the impact of interaction between dispositional empathic concern (DEC) and message framing on effects of the international aid campaign. DEC refers to a trait with which people tend to sympathize with and be concerned about others in need. Message framing is differentiated by positive or negative type. The results supported the prediction that the interaction between DEC and framing would have an effect on responses to messages advocating international relief activities. The overall findings show that the interaction was mainly the result of positive framing eliciting more favorable responses (behavioral intention and perceived relationship closeness) from higher DEC individuals than lower ones. The interaction effect on behavioral interaction was mediated by perceived relationship closeness.

  • This study explore how framing affects the consumer's attitude toward the bundle products. On the basis of the framing theory, response compatibility hypothesis and regulatory focus theory, this study examine the impact of framing on the consumer's choice in multi-alternative set and analyzes the manner in which he/she selects or rejects an alternative. The data obtained from experiment shows that : 1. Consumers focus on the positive attributes of in selection task, however, in rejection task he/she will focus on negative attributes. 2. Consumers are not influenced by prevention framing when he/she selects an alternative however, he/she is not influenced by promotion framing when reject an alternative. Understanding the underlying cognitive process of choosing abd rejecting in multiple alernatives can help marketers to create effective framing strategies for the bundle product.

  • Messages to help people far away, such as International relief campaign, are heavily influenced by situational factors. In this light, the study examined whether the message characteristics (gain/loss framing) and the individual characteristics (previous attitude to helping activity) interact to affect the message attitude and behavioral intention. The study was conducted by an experiment involving 220 subjects. The analysis resulted in the significant interactions between gain/loss framing and pre-attitude by the same direction for message attitudes and behavioral intention. It was shown that gain framing worked more effectively for the relatively more friendly group towards helping activities than for the less friendly one. The same direction was shown in the loss framing, but its difference was smaller. The process of the interactions appeared as mediated by anticipated satisfaction. The practical and theoretical implications were discussed for proper planning of messages to help others.

  • With the recent, rapid changes in the socio-economic environment, organizations of today are now required to present a framework of realistic consumer behaviors based on psychology, economy, and finance, in order to understand their investing customers. Stock investors show differences in terms of their decisions or evaluations in the process of investing. This is due to what is called the 'framing effect.' The decision frames of the investors are defined differently, and, as a result, this affects the decisions made by the investors. Preceding studies on stock investment rarely touched the topic of the effect of message framing on market participants in their stock investment, especially regarding the differences in terms of their risk management behaviors based on the message framing in stock investment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the influence of stock investment message framing on market participants in their investment decision making and empirically validate whether this message framing effect has a moderating effect on the factors of investment satisfaction. For this, 494 participants with stock investment experiences were interviewed from May 1 to 26, 2018, and the results were used as the data for the empirical analysis. The analysis of the data was conducted using SPSS 22.0 statistical analysis software. The results of this study were as follows; First, of the stock investment behavioral factors, the stock comprehension, recommendation by others for a stock, and the degree of risks of a stock affected stock investment satisfaction in a positive manner. And, of the behavioral factors of stock investment, stock comprehension, stock brand, recommendation on the stocks from others, past performances, and risk levels of stocks affected the intent of continued stock investment in a positive manner. Second, message framing turned out to affect stock investment satisfaction in a positive manner, and it also had a significant moderating effect to the relationship between the stock investment behavior and stock investment satisfaction. Third, message framing was found to affect continued stock investment intent significantly, with a significant moderating effect in the relationship between stock investment behavioral factor and continued stock investment intent.

  • Nevertheless reported the same events, news audience have diverse sense of sights and opinions about the events because of the different news frames. This notion was repeatedly evi nnced by several framing studies. This pa wa tried to analyse an interacting relationship between viewer’s level of elaboration likelihood and the effects of the news frames. This pa wa sfrrted with a discussion about the framing effects, then compared them with Elaboration Likelihood Ms notraming effely. And this study conducted an ex waiment selecting indivi ual dispngitions (involvement and cognitive complexity) and message characteristics(number of cues and arguments) as intermediating variables on the message framing effects. This study found out that, the more involvement about the issues the viewers had, the more their thoughts coincided with the issue's frame. On the other hand, when the viewers had low involvement about the issues and cognitive complexity, the framing effects were not found because they processed the messages through the peripheral route. Although the viewers' cognitive complexity was a factor in choosing the central route, but it was not directly connected to the framing effect. Both the number of cues and argument diversity in the messages had positive relationships with the framing effects.

  • Recently, digital advertising has shifted towards delivering messages through short ads of less than 15 seconds, and on social media, ads need to convey the message within 5 seconds before consumers skip them. Although the length of advertisements has decreased, advancements in artificial intelligence algorithms and big data analysis have made it possible to deliver personalized messages that cater to consumers' interests. In this changing landscape, the importance of delivering tailored messages through short and efficient ads is increasing. In this study, we examined the effects of message framing as part of effective message delivery. Specifically, we examined the differences in the effects of two framings, "health" and "environment," for vegan products. The growing consumer interest in health and the environment has elevated the interest in vegan products, and the vegan market is expanding rapidly. Consumers purchase vegan products not only for personal health benefits but also due to their ethical responsibility towards the environment, which can be considered ethical consumption. Previous research has not shown the differences in the effects between health and environment message framings, and the research has been limited to vegan food products. This study investigates the differences in the effects of health and environment message framings using a dish soap product category. By identifying which advertising messages, either health or environment, are more effective in promoting vegan products, this study provides insights for companies to enhance their message framing strategies effectively.

  • Out-of-home (Out-of-Home) advertising can be an effective means of delivering messages for preventing drowsy driving, given that it is exposed at locations and times where vehicle traffic occurs. This study investigated the influence of message framing of drowsy driving prevention OOH advertising and regulatory focus on the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors by an experimental study targeting 200 university students. The results showed an interaction effect between message framing and regulatory focus on the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors. While no significant differences were observed in the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors based on regulatory focus for positively framed messages, for negatively framed messages, a higher intention was observed when the prevention focus group rather than promotion focus group. This study focuses on two key areas: how messages are crafted (message framing) and the characteristics of the people who receive them (regulatory focus). By exploring these aspects, it provides valuable theoretical and practical knowledge. Essentially, it opens doors for creating message strategies that are finely tailored to suit the preferences of the audience. This advancement is vital for researchers and practitioners as it enhances the effectiveness of communication efforts.

  • In this study, we investigated the joint effects of message framing (profit vs. loss) and source type (celeb vs. general) on the persuasive effectiveness of mass media campaign to prevent drunk driving. As a result of conducting an experimental study on 218 motorcycle drivers in Vietnam, the main effects of message framing were not significant, but the interaction effect with the type of information source consistently influenced the attitude toward the advertisement, the drunk driving prevention, and the behavior intention Specifically, it is more persuasive to send a message by a general model rather than an celebrity when the loss framing method is used while it is more persuasive to send a message by a celebrity model than a general model when the gain framing is used. This study therefore provided valuable information and practical implication to the National Traffic Safety Committee of Vietnam for establishing a campaign to prevent drunk driving. In addition, this research also has valuable theoretical implication because it examines the effect of drunk driving prevention campaign on the attitude toward not only advertisement and the drunk driving prevention but also the behavior intention.
