The purpose of this paper is to conduct an experimental measurement and analysis of cities' morphology. Fractal theory that is an effective tool for evaluating self-similarity and complexity of objects was applied. For the comparative analysis of fractailities and computational verification, two totally different cities in Japan were selected. They are Kitakyushu City, which is a big and fully developed city, and Jinguu Machi of which almost all the area is covered with agricultural land use. After converting vector data to raster data within GIS, fractal dimensions of two cases in Kitakyushu City and one case in Jinguu Machi were calculated. The calculation showed that two parts of Kitakyushu City were already fractal. Jinguu Machi, however, was difficult to find fractality. As a conclusion, fractal was proved to be an useful tool to estimate the shape of cities reflecting their internal spatial structure, that is self-similarity and complexity.

The fractal expanded antenna with the configuration of a triangular microstrip patch antenna is presented and analyzed. In the fundamental and higher mode of TFA(Triangular Fractal Antenna), resonant frequencies are controlled by changing the scaling factor. It is observed that increasing scaling factor makes the resonant frequency be spread, and decreasing scaling factor makes it be concentrated. The scaling factor is varied as the expansion and concentration of resonant frequencies. The resonant frequency in each fractal patch element is observed log -periodically. The TFA can be applied to the multiband system.

Fractal patterns are visible regularities of form found in the natural world. The mathematics of fractals can explain spiral growth patterns of self-similarity in organisms. For example, ammonites have complex but regular patterns of suture lines, resulting in a fractal-like display. In this study, a small region (less than 1mm diameter) of the spiral center of a rarely well preserved ammonite (Eogaudryceras sp.) was examined under microscope. Interestingly, we found a differential change of suture shapes at early stages of animal development providing a model for the study of Evo-devo (evoutionary developmental biology). Evo-devo is a convergence science born out of the recognition of complexity from interactions between generative and adaptive forces.
Tidal channel development is influenced by sediment type, grain size, composition and tidal current. Tidal channels are usually characterized by channel formation, density and shape. Quantitative analysis of tidal channels using remotely sensed data have rarely been studied. The objective of this study is to quantify tidal channels in terms of fractal dimension and compare different inter-tidal channel patterns and compare with DEM (Digital Elevation Model). For the fractal analysis, we used box counting method which had been successfully applied to streams, coastlines and others linear features. For a study, the southern part of Ganghwado tidal flats was selected which know for high dynamics of tidal currents and vast tidal flats. This area has different widths and lengths of tidal channels. IKONOS was used for extracting tidal channels, and the box counting method was applied to obtain fractal dimensions (D) for each tidal channel. Yeochari area where channels showed less dense development and low DEM had low fractal dimenwion near $1.00{\sim}1.20$. Area (near Donggumdo and Yeongjongdo) of dendritic channel pattern and high DEM resulted in high fractal dimension near $1.20{\sim}1.35$. The difference of fractal dimensions according to channel development in tidal flats is relatively large enough to use as an index for tidal channel classification. Therefore we could conclude that fractal dimension, channel development and DEM in tidal channel has high correlation. Using fractal dimension, channel development and DEM, it would be possible to quantify the tidal channel development in association with surface characteristics.

In this paper, we propose a fast fractal image coding algorithm to shorten long time to take on fractal image encoding. For its performance evaluation, the algorithm compares with other traditional fractal coding methods. In the traditional fractal image coding methods, an original image is contracted by a factor in order to make the corresponding image to be compared with. Then, the whole area of the contracted image is searched in order to find the fixed point of contractive transformation of the original image corresponding to the contracted image. It needs a lot of searching time on encoding. However, the proposed algorithm considerably reduces encoding time by using scaling method and limited search area method. On comparison of the proposed algorithm with Jacquin's method, the proposed algorithm is dozens of times as fast as that of Jacquin's method on encoding time with a little degradation of the decoded image quality and a little increase of the compression rate. Therefore, it is found that the proposed algorithm largely improves the performance in the aspect of encoding time when compared with other fractal image coding methods.

In this paper, a slotted trapezoidal microstrip fractal patch antenna is designed and fabricated for the vehicle GPS antenna. We designed air substrate patch antenna to obtain gain improvement by the elimination of dielectric loss. By applying fractal structure with crossed slot to trapezoidal patch, we obtained 42.5 % as much patch size as conventional triangular patch antenna. Measured bandwidth was 200 MHz on GPS band under VSWR 2:1 And gain was 4.31 dBi at resonant frequency that is 2$\sim$5 dB higher gain than conventional ceramic patch antenna on GPS band.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of intensive inquiry activity through intensive camp for 2 hours and 3 days in summer vacation and 100 hours of classes from March to December 2018 by selecting 2 middle school students using OKMINDMAP for creative education. It is the result. The teacher was the assistant, and the research problem was selected by two students themselves, and the variation of the fractal dimension was investigated and the Chaos game was shown to be possible in the modified Sierpinski triangle.
