A Proposal of the Wind Pressure Coefficient and Simplified Wind Load Estimating Formula for the Design of Structural Frames of the Low-Rise Buildings (저층건축물의 구조골조 설계용 풍압계수 및 풍하중 평가 약산식의 제안)

  • This study summarizes basic results on the characteristics of mean wind pressure distribution on rectangular low-rise buildings with various breadths and depths through simultaneous multi-point wind pressure test. 5 types of rectangular wind pressure test models with various breadths and depths have been made for this study. Wind pressure tests are conducted on the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel at Kumoh National Institute of Technology. The characteristics of mean wind pressure distribution with respect to various breadths and depths of low-rise buildings are analyzed into windward face, leeward face and side faces of building. From the results, new wind pressure coefficients and simplified wind load estimating formula for the resonable design of the structural frames of low-rise building were proposed.

  • The roof surface of spatial structures is often damaged or destroyed because of its light weight roof structure and materials. Many of large scale stadiums have roof structure framed with steel truss or stay cable and wrapped or covered with membrane material Teflon, and this membrane material is easily damaged and its loss is quite serious. Through such examples, it was found that the studies on wind proof design of roofs of large space structures were not sufficiently made. This study conducted wind pressure experiment and fluid analysis in order to examine the aerodynamic characteristic of the roof shape of hyperbolic paraboloid spatial structures. Although the biggest minimum peak wind pressure coefficient was shown in the edges of the roof in the wind origin direction, it decreases with the advancement to the longitudinal direction of the roof.

Distribution of Wind Pressure on Claddings of Apartment Buildings Affected by Neighboring Buildings (아파트 건축물 군(群)에 의한 건축물 외장재의 풍압분포)

  • This paper presents wind pressure distribution on high-rise apartment buildings through wind-tunnel tests. In order to investigate wind-induced interference efforts on building claddings an apartment complex, which was damaged on the claddings during typhoon attack, was exampled and constructed as a scaled model. A series of wind tunnel tests using pressure models were performed in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The test results with and without interfering buildings were compared and discussed. It is observed that the wind pressure on buildings 105 and 106 with surrounding buildings shows highly negative, while the pressure without surrounding buildings were positive. Therefore the wind-induced interference effects should be taken into account in the design of claddings through wind-tunnel tests.

  • In this study, the wind tunnel test for Kwangju World Cup Stadium with long span roof was carried out and its results were considered in the two roofs: one is the case of one roof, and the other is the case of two roofs which are identical. In this experiment, a 1/400-scale model was used. As a result of measuring wind pressure in the case of one roof and then two, when two roofs are set up, wind load for structural frame decreases by 35%, compared to that of one roof. These results show that the current criteria for wind loadings, which specify that wind pressure on the roof depends only on the altitude, have limitations for adoption, and a wind tunnel test is essential to design.

Mechanical Performance Evaluation of Concrete with Recycled Coarse Aggregate Selected by Multi-stage Wind Pressure (다단형 풍압처리에 의해 선별된 순환굵은골재 적용 콘크리트의 역학적 성능 평가)

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of concrete with recycled coarse aggregate (RG) selected by multi-stage wind pressure (MSWP) treatment were evaluated. After evaluating the basic properties of natural and recycled coarse aggregates, the mechanical performance of the recycled coarse aggregates concrete was experimentally investigated. As a result, it was found that the MSWP technique could improve the fundamental properties such as density and water absorption of RG. In addition, the concrete with RG selected by MSWP showed a better mechanical performance, indicating a higher strength values, surface electric resistivity and a lower absorption. Thus, it seems that the MSWP technique can be effective for the production of high-quality RG.

  • A wind tunnel experiment was performed with the design wind speed of 50m/s to investigate the wind forces of Ieodo Ocean Research Station. The structure portion above water surface was modelled with 1/80 scale ratio. The wind force coefficients were determined from the force signals and compared to the results of a numerical study which was separately undertaken. Those results generally agreed well, and it is assured that the experimental data can be effectively used in the wind resistant design of the structure. Making use of the experimental force and pressure coefficients, the wind farce and moments acting on the overall upper structure of prototype are determined together with the wind pressures on local impervious facilities (main deck, solar panel and helideck).

  • When constructing a high-speed railroad, the reduction of the distance between track centers and the width of track bed will save the construction cost. However the shortening the distance between track centers may cause the stability problems due to higher wind pressure. Therefore the extensive technical review and aerodynamical study should be performed to determine the adequate distance between track centers. In this study, the impact that the increase in wind pressure due to the change of aerodynamic phenomena with the change of the distance between track centers may have on two trains passing by each other was predicted, and the stability of train operation was analyzed in order to review the distance between track centers suitable to Honam HSR trains. And we estimated the aerodynamical effects by the results of the field test.

  • 장대 케이블 교량의 풍응답을 계측할 수 있는 무선센서네트워크 기반의 풍응답 계측시스템을 개발하고, 이를 사용하여 인천대교의 시공단계별로 고유진동수, Mode Shape과 같은 Modal Parameters의 변화를 추정하고 보강형에서의 풍압분포와 보강형, 주탑, 케이블의 가속도를 계측하여 내풍 성능을 분석하였다. 개발된 계측 시스템은 인천대교 사장교의 전체 거동을 계측할 수 있도록, 1.5km 범위에 넓게 분포된 최대 55 Nodes에서 최대 1kHz의 동기화된 계측을 수행할 수 있으며, 각 Node별로 3축가속도나 풍압을 측정할 수 있다. 전체 Node에서 가속도를 계측하는 경우에는 최대 165 Channel을 1kHz로 측정할 수 있다. Modal 해석의 경우에, 고가교, 접속교, 사장교 주탑, 보강형, 케이블의 시공 단계별 동특성의 변화를 추정하였으며, 고가교에서는 모드해석을 통해 역추정한 구조계수를 정적재하실험 및 실험실에서의 Mold 시험결과와 비교하였으며 사장교 케이블에서는 케이블 댐퍼의 성능을 분석하였다. 또한 인천대교 보강형에서의 풍압분포를 계측하였으며, 풍압의 공간상관관계를 분석하였고, 풍하중 및 풍진동 특성을 분석하여 가속도 계측 결과와 비교하였다. 계측 및 분석 결과를 바탕으로 장대교량의 내풍성능을 확보하고 향상시키는데 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • This Paper aims for analyzing the effect of opening types on wind-driven ventilation performance in basement parking lots of apartment. The scale model of basement parking lot was made, wind tunnel tests conducted. Wind pressure of three opening types was measured, wind pressure coefficient calculated. As the result, it showed that the air flow pattern of stack type opening was strongly changed by wind direction, but it was almost not at scuttle vent type. But, as for the difference of wind pressure coefficient, stack type opening was more than the other two types.

  • There can be diverse causes in the destruction of a large space structure by strong wind such as characteristics of construction materials and changes in internal and external wind pressure of the structure. To evaluate the wind pressure of roof against the large space structure, wind pressure experiment is performed. However, in this wind pressure experiment, peak internal pressure coefficient is set according to the opening of the roof in Korea wind code. In this article, it was tried to identify the change of internal pressure coefficient and the characteristics of wind pressure coefficient acting on the roof by two kinds of opening on the side of the structure with Hyperbolic Paraboloid Spatial Structures roof. When analyzing internal pressure coefficient according to roof shape, it was found that minimum (52%) and maximum (30%~80%) overestimation was made comparing to partial opening type proposed in the current wind load. It is judged that evaluation according to the opening rate of the structure should be made to evaluate the internal pressure coefficient according to load.
