  • In this study, the effects of infection control health beliefs and critical thinking tendencies of nursing students on infection control standards were investigated. This study collected and analyzed the data of 222 nursing students from the College of Nursing located in City A from June 2021 to July 2021. Data were collected according to IRB-approved contents, and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 Statistics Program. The infection control health beliefs and critical thinking tendencies of nursing students affect the performance of standard infection control precautions(F=16.634, p<.001), and the explanatory power of the model was 22.0%. It is necessary to develop a nursing education program to improve health beliefs and critical thinking disposition and systematic and efficient infection control education to improve the performance of standard precautions for infection control of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive study to confirm the relationship between medical infection prevention knowledge, infection control confidence, and standard practice of nursing students and to understand the effect on performance for standard precautions. Data collection was conducted on 160 nursing students located in G Metropolitan City from October 4 to October 12, 2018. As a result of the study, the performance for standard precautions has a positive correlation with 'infection prevention knowledge' (r=.27, p<.001) and infection control confidence (r=.52, p<.001), and infection prevention knowledge was found to have a significant correlation with infection control confidence (r=.27, p=012). Factors affecting the performance for standard precaution of nursing students were in order of infection control confidence (𝛽=.45, p<.001), no skin contact experience (𝛽=.18, p<.004), infection prevention education (𝛽=-2.65, p<.009), infection prevention knowledge (𝛽=.15, p<.019). and the explanatory power of the model was 35%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and implement a standard precautions program that can increase infection prevention knowledge and infection management confidence in order to increase the performance for standard precautions of nursing students.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing students' knowledge, awareness and performance and to identify the influencing factors on performance of standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection. Methods: Subjects were 334 nursing students who were 3rd and 4th years in the nursing university in Gwangju. Data were collected using questionnaires from April 24 to May 25, 2018. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Mean scores of knowledge, awareness and performance about standard precaution for Healthcare-associated Infection were 19.95±2.43, 4.71±0.37, 4.55±0.49, respectively. Statistically significant differences were shown in the performance of standard precaution related to grade(t=-3.627, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(t=3.239, p=.001). Significant relationships were found among knowledge(r=.201, p=.000), awareness(r=.522, p=.000) and performance of standard precaution in nursing students. The results of stepwise multiple regression indicates that awareness(β=.507, p=.000) and grade(β=.169, p=.000) and experience of infection prevention education(β=.094, p=.043) predicts 30.8% in performance of standard precaution(F=50.520, p=.000). Conclusions: to enhance performance of standard precaution for nursing students, it is necessary to develop and utilize a program that experience of infection prevention education according to the appropriate grade group and enhances awareness.

  • The study was done to identify relations among moral sensitivity, self-leadership, fatigue and compliance with standard precautions and to identify the influencing factors on compliance with standard precautions for intensive care nurses. Data were collected from 153 intensive care nurses in March 2019 and were analyzed using Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 24.0 version. The compliance with standard precautions has positive correlation with their self-leadership (r=.17, p=.042). The self-leadership (β=.17, p=.042) was a significant predictor of the compliance with standard precautions. It was statistically significant (R2=.03, F=4.21, p=.042). Based on the findings of this study, each institution needs to make efforts to strengthen the capacity of nurses for self-leadership.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify blood and body fluids exposure, and factors influencing compliance with standard precautions among nurses. Participants consisted of 144 nurses in three general hospitals located in C province. Data were collected using a questionnaire that consisted of awareness, compliance, safety environment and attitude toward standard precautions. A total of 40.3% of participants had been injured by syringes or sharp tools that had already been used for patients within the last 1 year 1.01 times. Moreover, 22.9% of participants had been exposed to blood and body fluid of patients 1.06 times within the last 1 year. The mean score for compliance with standard precautions was lower than its awareness. There was a significant correlation between compliance and awareness and a safe environment. Multiple regression revealed an adjusted $R^2$ of 0.166 with the awareness score serving as the major predictor variable for compliance of standard precautions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies to apply to systemic and continuous education regarding standard precautions and to foster a safe environment to enhance nurses' compliance with standard precautions.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among empowerment, awareness and performance on standard precautions and identify the factors that affect performance of standard precaution in the health care workers. The data were collected from 200 health care workers working in the general hospital located Y city. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates the awareness predict 49.0% (F=191.98, P<.001) in the performance of standard precaution. Therefore, it is necessary to develop awareness of the standard precaution strategy program for improving the performance of standard precautions in health care workers.

Data were collected from 150 small and medium hospital nurses in January 11, 2021 to January 22, 2021 and were analyzed using Descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Practice of standard precaution was significantly correlated with safety attitude for patient (r=.539, p<.001) and moral sensitivity(r=.249, p=.002). Practice of standard precaution was associated safety attitude for patient, and work unit with 33.8% of the variance(F=18.47, p<.001). Based on the findings of this study, each institution needs to make efforts to strengthen the safety attitude for patient of small and medium hospital nurses for practice of standard precaution.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among empowerment, awareness and performance on standard precautions and identify the factors that affect performance of standard precaution in nursing students experiencing clinical practice. The data were collected from 168 nursing students who experienced clinical practice in the two colleges located Jeonnam. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS 20.0 program. The result of the stepwise multiple regression indicates the awareness predict 77.7% (F=579.84, p<.001) in the performance of standard precaution. Therefore, it is necessary to develop awareness of the standard precaution strategy program for improving the performance of standard precautions in nursing students experiencing clinical practice.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between attitude toward patient safety, empowerment and awareness, performance of standard precaution for healthcare associated infection control and prevention and to identify the influencing factors of the performance in nursing students. The participants were 185 nursing students on one college in J city, Data collection was conducted from september 10 to 21, 2018. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS Statistics 22.0 program. As a result of multiple regression analysis showed that the factors influencing the performance of the standard precaution were awareness, empowerment, participation in the patient safety campaign and the performance was explained by 51.0%. Therefore, In order to improve the performance of standard precaution for nursing students, various convergent education programs should be applied to raise awareness and improve empowerment, and it is necessary to seek ways for nursing students to participate actively in patient safety campaigns.
