A molecular-continuum hybrid method was developed to simulate microscale and nanoscale fluids where continuum fluidics cannot be used to predict Couette flow. Molecular dynamics simulation is used near the solid surface where the flow cannot be predicted by continuum fluidics, and Navier-Stokes equations are used in the other regions. Numerical simulation of Couette flow was performed using the hybrid method to investigate the effect of solid-liquid interaction and surface roughness in a nanochannel. It was found that the solid-liquid interaction and surface roughness influence the boundary condition. When the surface energy is low, slippage occurs near the solid surface, and the magnitude of slippage decreases with increase in surface energy. When the surface energy is high, a locking boundary condition is formed. The roughness disturbs slippage near the solid surface and promotes the locking boundary condition.

In this paper, lattice Boltzmann method(LBM) results for a laminar flow in a microchannel with rough surface are presented. The surface roughness is modeled as an array of rectangular modules placed on the top and bottom surface of a parallel-plate channel. The effects of relative surface roughness, roughness distribution, and roughness size are presented in terms of the Poiseuille number. The roughness distribution characterized by the ratio of the roughness height to the spacing between the modules has a negligible effect on the flow and friction factors. Finally, a significant increase in the Poiseuille number is observed when the surface roughness is considered, and the effects of roughness on the microflow field mainly depend on the surface roughness.

From large to small vessels of the surface is not smooth. and The surface ship has a surface roughness. Because surface roughness increases the surface resistance and heat transfer, be considered when designing a ship that is an important design factor. Due to surface roughness study on flow around and due to changes in flow and turbulence intensity for the ongoing research is conducted. Roughness of the surface ships from the ship by air as well as machines can be widely applied. In this study, the surface roughness of the leisure marine interval, any change will affect the surface flow, area due to surface roughness for boundary-experimental study was performed.

The flow characteristics of a circulating water channel which is appropriate for a flow measurement and visualization in the laboratory has been investigated by using a Laser Doppler Anemometer. In order to get a stable and uniform distribution of mean velocity at the test section, the surface flow accelerator is designed and used. The experimental results that the turbulent structure should be considered with the mean velocity for obtaining the reasonable uniformity at the test section.

In this study, a smooth flat surface, low fin, Turbo-B, and Thermoexcel-E surfaces are used to examine the effect of the flow velocity on the pool boiling heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) and critical heat fluxes (CHFs). HTCs and CHFs are measured on a smooth square heater of $9.53{\times}9.53mm^2$ at $60^{\circ}C$ in a pool of pure water at various fluid velocities of 0, 0.1, 0.15, and 0.2 m/s. Test results show that for all surfaces, CHFs obtained with flow are higher than those obtained without flow. CHFs of the low fin surface are higher than those of the Turbo-B and Thermoexcel-E surfaces due largely to the increase in surface area and sufficient fin spaces for the easy removal of bubbles. CHFs of the low fin surface show even 5 times higher CHFs as compared to the plain surface. On the other hand, both Turbo-B and Thermoexcel-E surfaces do not show satisfactory results because their pore sizes are too small and water bubbles easily cover them. At low heat fluxes of less than $50kW/m^2$, HTCs increase as the flow velocity increases for all surfaces. In conclusion, a low fin geometry is good for application to steam generators in nuclear power plants.

In the present paper, a new calculation algorithm far solving large scale environmental or geophysical flows with free surface is proposed where the non-hydrostatic pressure component is taken into consideration. Predictor-corrector fractional step approach with explicit, forward time marching scheme in the sigma coordinate system is employed. In order to validate the present calculation algorithm and to estimate the effects of non-hydrostatic pressure on resultant flow and free surface movements, example calculations are carried out for typical steady and unsteady flow problems. Present method can be applied to the meso-scale free surface flows with complex bottom topography where MAC-like 3-d hydrodynamic calculations are quite ineffective and uneconomic.

The shear stress on a surface due to the thin film fluid flow is an important issue. In case of a rotating disk, the fluid is delivered to the edge of the disk by centrifugal force, which acts as a body force on the fluid. Wear of a surface is affected by the shear stress acting on the surface and curvature. In this study, we utilize computational fluid dynamics software to model the ratio of curvature and local shear stress on solid surfaces. The key goal of the study is to determine an optimized curvature for the thin film fluid flow on a solid surface in order to minimize the local shear stress affecting the wear of this surface. Our results on the effects of curvature will be utilized for the design of devices that utilize thin film fluid flow on a solid surface, such as rotating-disk spray systems and thin film coating.
