The Study of the Peer-to-Peer Communication System for a UAV Navigational Monitoring Using a HSDPA (HSDPA를 이용한 무인항공기 항법 모니터링용 Peer-to-Peer 통신 시스템 구현 연구)

  • This paper presents a realization of a peer-to-peer communication system for a UAV navigational monitoring using a commercial HSDPA(High Speed Download Packet Access) mobile communication device. The realized system consists of a communication server, an air data terminal and multiple ground monitoring devices, where the server transfers navigational data from a UAV to multiple monitoring devices in real-time with commercial HSDPA modem. Through ground and flight tests, data were obtained to observe the realized system. Test results show that, depending on communicational environment, about 300msec delay, congestion and packet-loss between air data terminal and ground monitoring devices. Nevertheless, through high-speed long range test on a ground vehicle and altitude test with a UAV flight, the feasibility of a UAV navigational monitoring system was observed.

  • 한반도 주변해역에서의 해수면 고도는 1993년부터 2005년까지의 기간 동안 연평균 3.89 mm $yr^{-1}$ 상승하였으며, 이는 전세계 해수면 상승률의 1.3배에 해당한다. 본 연구에서는 AVISO (Archiving, Validation and Interpretation of Satellite Oceanographic data)에서 제공하는 복합위성자료 (Topex/Poseidon, Jason-1, ERS, Envisat)인 DT-MSLA (Delayed Time - Maps of Sea Level Anomalies)를 이용하여 동해와 황해, 남해, 한국해협에서의 해수면 고도 변화를 연구하였다. 해수면 고도의 평균적인 변화는 증가하는 경향을 보임과 동시에, 여름에는 $4{\sim}5$년,겨울에는 3년의 주기성을 가지고 진동하였다. 조화분석을 통하여 해수면 고도와 해수면 온도의 연주기 모드와 반년주기 모드의 진폭과 위상을 나타내었다. 해수면 고도의 연주기 진폭은 한반도 주변해역에서 남동쪽이 높게,북서쪽이 낮게 나타나는 반면, 해수면 온도는 이와는 반대의 분포를 보였다. 월별 해수면 고도와 해수면 온도의 상관을 구한 결과,$6{\sim}8$월에 동해와 남해에서 1 / 2달 시간지연 일 때,상관계수가 0.7정도로 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 여름철 동해와 남해가 쿠로시오 해류의 영향을 크게 받고 있음을 짐작할 수 있다.

  • With the growth of the internet, the number of wireless internet users has increased continuously up to date. However, mobile communications could not support high speed transmission rate with cheap communication fee and wireless LAN has problems in providing terminal mobility and wide area connectivity, respectively. So the WMAN standard has been newly designed to make up for these limits. The initial 802.16 specification effectively offers a solution for providing fixed users with high speed wireless communication but it does not offer terminal mobility. So the 802.16d and 802.16e have been developed as the next generation solution that can support various PHY layer (SC, SCa, OFDM, OFDMA) and offer the terminal mobility. In this paper, we propose an effective uplink scheduling algorithm for VoIP with using UGS, and we show that our proposed algorithm is superior in view of average delay and management of uplink bandwidth to conventional rtPS algorithm and the scheme in reference, with using NS-2 network simulator.

  • This paper propose a new wireless multi-hop routing protocol that takes the hierarchical mesh of the hybrid WMN into account. WMN that is possible to provide various applications of wireless networks still has many open issues that should be solved despite the studies carried out over a decade. Especially, in routing protocol area, a problem degrading the routing efficiency by applying one of the routing protocols, which are designed for the MANET, to the hybrid WMN be solved above all. For the improvement of the routing performance, both good routing protocol and metric are essential. However, the recent studies are only concentrated in routing metric by use of the cross-layer design. Therefore, this paper is dedicated to the routing protocol that is essential for the performance of the routing but needed more studies. The proposed protocol in this paper is reactive, and designed to reorganize the hybrid WMN with several pseudo domains, and carry out domain-based route decision. By the simulation result for the performance analysis of the proposed protocol, the average delay for the route decision was decreased by 43% compared to AODV that is the typical reactive protocol.

  • In this paper, we propose a MAC(Media Access Control) protocol based on flexible RWT(RTS Waiting Time) for underwater mobile ad-hoc networks with a three-way handshaking mechanism. This protocol can solve a problem of collision between RTS(Request-To-Send) and CTS(Clear-To-Send) packets in existing MACA(Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) protocol. This proposed MAC protocol is also an effective protocol which can apply to underwater mobile ad-hoc networks in a real field by using implementable technologies. We set flexible RTS Waiting Time called RWT, considering various characteristics of underwater environment. It is possible to support variable network size according to node mobility. Finally, we conduct a performance evaluation between proposed MAC protocol and existing MACA based MAC protocol through practical implementation and experiment. As a result, we verify the superiority of our proposed MAC protocol in terms of throughput, packet drop rate, average transmission time, energy consumption and channel utilization.

  • In this paper, a scheduling algorithm is proposed for military satellite networks to improve QoS(Quality of Service) based on WDRR(Weighted Deficit Round Robin) method. When the packet size that has been queued to be larger, the proposed scheme DWDRR(Dynamic WDRR) method give appropriate additional quantum using EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average). To demonstrate an usefulness of proposed algorithm using OPNET modeler that built the simulation environment, reliability and real-time availability of the proposed algorithm is analyzed. The simulation results show an availability of proposed scheme in terms of reduce queuing delay and packet drop rate compared and analyzed the existing algorithms WRR(Weighted Round Robin), DRR(Deficit Round Robin) and WDRR with DWDRR.

Fingertip Detection through Atrous Convolution and Grad-CAM (Atrous Convolution과 Grad-CAM을 통한 손 끝 탐지)

  • With the development of deep learning technology, research is being actively carried out on user-friendly interfaces that are suitable for use in virtual reality or augmented reality applications. To support the interface using the user's hands, this paper proposes a deep learning-based fingertip detection method to enable the tracking of fingertip coordinates to select virtual objects, or to write or draw in the air. After cutting the approximate part of the corresponding fingertip object from the input image with the Grad-CAM, and perform the convolution neural network with Atrous Convolution for the cut image to detect fingertip location. This method is simpler and easier to implement than existing object detection algorithms without requiring a pre-processing for annotating objects. To verify this method we implemented an air writing application and showed that the recognition rate of 81% and the speed of 76 ms were able to write smoothly without delay in the air, making it possible to utilize the application in real time.

Analysis of Propagation Environments for Indoor Wireless Communication Systems at THz Frequencies (THz 실내 무선 통신시스템을 위한 전파환경 분석)

  • Short-range wireless communication systems are expanding at rapid rate, finding application in offices and homes. Development of wireless local network is accompanied by steady increase in the demand for ever higher data rates. This in turn entails the necessity to develop communication systems which operate at higher frequencies. It can be expected that short-rage wireless communication networks will soon push towards the THz frequency range. We use a 3D ray-launching for analysis of propagation environments at the indoor fixtures. We extended the approach from the modeling of the reflectivity of optically thick, smooth building materials at THz frequencies to materials with a rough surface. The simulation result of propagation environment is similar to average received power of reference paper. The RMS delay spread was calculated to be 9.11 ns in a room size of $6m(L){\times}5m(W){\times}2.5m(H)$ for the concrete plaster.

Real-time Tele-operated Drone System with LTE Communication (LTE 통신을 이용한 실시간 원격주행 드론 시스템)

  • In this research, we suggest a real-time tele-driving system for unmanned drone operations using the LTE communication system. The drone operator is located 180km away and controls the altitude and position of the drone with a 50ms time delay. The motion data and video from the drone is streamed to the operator. The video is played on the operator's head-mounted display (HMD) and the motion data emulates the drone on the simulator for the operator. In general, a drone is operated using RF signal and the maximum distance for direct control is limited to 2km. For long range drone control over 2km, an auto flying mode is enabled using a mission plan along with GPS data. In an emergency situation, the autopilot is stopped and the "return home" function is executed. In this research, the immersion tele-driving system is suggested for drone operation with a 50ms time delay using LTE communication. A successful test run of the suggested tele-driving system has already been performed between an operator in Daejeon and a drone in Inje (Gangwon-Do) which is approximately 180km apart.

  • Personal mobile communication has been developed up to IMT-2000 which is called the third generation mobile communication. The first generation of personal mobile communication was analog cellular, the second was digital cellular, and the 2.5 generation was PCS. Before the third generation had been developed, the personal mobile communication service was focused mainly on the voice-oriented service. But, we can expect that multimedia service after the third generation system will be the core of the subject. T In this thesis, we propose a dynamic resource allocation algorithm in the UTRA TDD systems which can support the asymmetric traffic propensity and multimedia traffic. The proposed algorithm consists two sub-algorithms. One is the dynamic channel allocation method that determines the amount of bandwidth assigned between uplink and downlink according to resource allocation status list through asymmetric traffic propensity. The other is the channel access mechanism that assigns RU to bearer service generated in a cell. By simulation, the proposed dynamic resource allocation algorithm is proved to support asymmetric propensity of traffic and shows a better throughput for multimedia traffic.
