The purpose of this study is to classify the attitudes toward fast fashion into groups and analyze the differences of the self-consciousness, and make-up behavior by groups. Questionnaires are being administered from 179 high school girls living in Deagu metropolitan City. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncant-test, and ${\chi}^2$-test are all used for data analysis. Our findings are as follows. The attitude toward fast fashion shows a significant correlation with the sub-variable self-consciousness and make-up behavior. Attitude toward fast fashion is being categorized into convenience focus, fashion focus, design focus, and season focus. Self-consciousness is social self-consciousness, social anxiety, private self-consciousness, and private anxiety. Make-up behavior is positive effect, fashion leader, and conformity. Attitude toward fast fashion is classified into three groups: disposability, fashionability, and low interest of fashion. The groups show a significant difference in the self-consciousness, and make-up behavior. Groups display no distinctions between the sub-variables in the actual conditions of cosmetics such as a first time for make-up and frequence of visit.
The purpose of this study was to classify pursuit of clothing benefits and analyze the relationship between pursuit of clothing benefits, lifestyle, fast fashion attitude, and cosmetics behavior of college students. Questionnaires were administered to 338 college students living in Deagu and Busan province. Data were analyzed by using frequency, factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation analysis, $X^2$-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe-test. The findings are as follows. Pursuit of Clothing benefits typologies of college students were classified into three groups such as self-expression, pursuit of economic, and pursuit of social oriented body. In the relationship of the pursuit of clothing benefits was related to the sub-variables of lifestyle, fast fashion, and cosmetics behavior. Pursuit of Clothing benefits groups showed different the sub-variables of lifestyle, fast fashion attitude, and cosmetics behavior factors. The objectives of this study are (1) to classify fashion consumers based on innovativeness and nostalgia and (2) to explore the differences in product purchase criteria, fashion information sources, and attitudes toward eco-friendly and fast fashion products among the identified groups of consumers. A total of 327 respondents were clustered into four distinct groups: (1) high innovativeness and low nostalgia, (2) high innovativeness and high nostalgia, (3) low innovativeness and high nostalgia, and (4) low innovativeness and low nostalgia. The four groups showed significant differences in the purchase criteria of quality, design, and brands and no difference in the criteria of functionality and washing methods. The four groups preferred different sources of fashion information: fashion magazines, people in the street, and salespeople, but did not differ in terms of social networking services (SNS) and in-store displays. While the four groups had significantly different attitudes toward eco-friendly fashion products, they did not show differences in attitudes toward fast fashion products, excluding usefulness. These meaningful results provide guidelines for developing more effective merchandising strategies for both eco-friendly and fast fashion products.
The purpose of this study is to identify the antecedents of the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. As antecedents, fashion consciousness, eco-fashion consumption decision, ongoing search behavior, and shopping enjoyment were considered. It was hypothesized that fashion consciousness influence the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands both directly and indirectly through eco-fashion consumption decision, ongoing search behavior, and shopping enjoyment. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul, using convenience sampling. Three hundred five questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis using SPSS and confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis using AMOS. The hypothesized relationship test proved that fashion consciousness influences the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands both directly and indirectly through ongoing search behavior and shopping enjoyment. In addition, eco-fashion consumption decision influence directly influences the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. The results suggest some effective marketing strategies for marketers in the fast fashion industry.
This study examines how environmental consciousness and socially responsible clothing consumption attitude influence people's perceptions of the consequences of fast fashion. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey administered to females in their 20s to 40s, and a total of 430 surveys were used in the final analysis. The research results are as follows. First, environmental consciousness-which was conceptualized as interest in consumer effectiveness and the environment-had a positive influence on attitudes toward socially responsible clothing consumption attitude, i.e., clothing recycling and resource conservation. As the perception of consumer effectiveness was high, respondents had a tendency not to follow trends. Second, consumers with a high level of interest in the environment perceived the effect of fast fashion on the environment as serious, and they felt negatively toward personal use of fast fashion. Third, consumers with strong resource conservation behavior perceived the effect of fast fashion on the environment as serious, but those with positive attitudes toward secondhand clothing did not appear to have that perception. Finally, consumers who followed trends and those with weakly held attitudes about resource conservation felt positively toward personal use of fast fashion. The results of this research indicate that environmental consciousness is an important factor for socially responsible clothing consumption behavior. In addition, consumers with strong attitudes regarding resource conservation were more perceptive of the negative effect of fast fashion on the environment.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the differences in clothing consumption behaviors among female consumer groups in their twenties and to understand the type of consumer group pursuing fast fashion. Questionnaire survey was conducted to 230 female consumers residing in Seoul and Kyung Gi area from June 18 to 29 in 2007, and 178 were used for data analysis. Data analysis were conducted with SPSS 12 program on the reliability test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. Factors analyses were employed for the attitude toward fashion and shopping, and shopping motives. Four factors were formulated for the attitude toward fashion: interest in fashion, fashion-orientation, fashion leadership and fashion conformity. Six factors for the attitude toward shopping were found: information searching, shopping enjoyment, store patronage, impulse buying, brand-orientation and convenience. Buying motives for fashion goods were classified into 3 factors: for matching & occasion, to-be-in-fashion and for necessity. Four clusters were identified based on the attitude toward fashion: the fashion-interested, the fashion-indifferent, fashion leaders and the individuality-oriented. Among the groups, significant differences were found in information searching, shopping enjoyment and store patronage. Fashion leaders tended to spend more for expensive and up-to-dated fashion items, and for higher quantity than other groups. Consequently fashion leaders showed attractive customer characteristics for the fast fashion companies.
Brand love contributes to consumers' positive post-purchase behavior; therefore, fast fashion brand marketers should make more efforts to develop marketing strategies to promote brand love in the increasingly competitive fast fashion industry. This study identified the antecedents and consequences of fast fashion brand love to provide insights into brand love. Brand-related variables (affective brand experience, self-expressive brand, and hedonic brand attitude) were considered as antecedents, and post-purchase behavior variables (loyalty and positive word of mouth) were considered as consequences. It was hypothesized that affective brand experience, self-expressive brand, and hedonic brand attitude directly and indirectly influence brand loyalty and positive word of mouth through brand love. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul, using convenience sampling. Two hundred and eighty-six questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. Factor analysis revealed that all variables were uni-dimensional. Tests of the hypothesized path showed that affective brand experience and self-expressive brand indirectly influenced brand loyalty and positive word of mouth through brand love versus the direct influence of hedonic brand attitude. The results suggest some implications for fast fashion brand marketers.
