Development of an Algorithm for the Embryo Location of Seed by using Machine Vision (기계시각을 이용한 대립종자의 씨눈위치 판정알고리즘 개발)

  • This study was conducted to develop an algorithm for the embryo location in seed by using machine vision. The topic of this research is to detect the embryo location in seed regardless of seed supply direction. In order to detect the embryo location in Cham Bak, Tuktojwa and Hukjong, the effect of seed posture in the supply line was investigated. When the seed posture angle of Chambak from horizontal direction was $30^{\circ}$, the detection accuracy for embryo location was 77.8%, while detection accuracy was 100% for the $0^{\circ}$ or $15^{\circ}$. When seed posture angle of Tuktojwa was $30^{\circ}$ from the horizontal direction, the detection accuracy was 89.5% and it was 100% for the $0^{\circ}$ and $15^{\circ}$. Embryo location detection accuracy for the Hukjong was 94.4% when the seed posture angle from the horizontal direction is $30^{\circ}$, and it was 100% for the $0^{\circ}$ and $15^{\circ}$. When seeds are fed into the posturing and seeding line, the seed postures within $30^{\circ}$ with mechanical means, and at most $15^{\circ}$ seed stand posture. the developed algorithm can detect the embryo position in the seed. So, this embryo detection system is very useful tool in the posturing and seeding line.

  • An automatic drum seeder was developed to improve the seeding operation. It consisted of a conveyor to transfer seedling trays, a seed-hopper to supply seeds, a drum to drop seeds on the tray, and an air blower to remove extra seeds. A photo sensor was used to detect the transfer of seedling trays, and its signal was fed into microcomputer which operated a stepping motor driving the drum. The seeds were adhered to the surface of drum by vacuum pressure, and were dropped into tray cells by compressed air. An air connection unit was devised to alternate between vacuum pressure and compressed air. A control program for the system, written in C language, could operate the drum at the given number of revolutions and revolutions per minute. The results showed that the air connection unit could operate well and the seeds were dropped satisfactorily into tray cells. In case of cabbage and perilla seeds, which are regular and spherical shape, the missing rate was low and the single seeding rate was more than 97%. Low missing rate and high multiple seeding rate were observed in lettuce seeds which have narrow ends with tight weight. The missing rate of pepper seed was very high because of heavy weight and irregular shape. To improve the performance of the seeder, adjustment of vacuum pressure based upon shape and weight of the seeds, careful selection of the material of drum, maintenance of consistent air blower pressure, and replacement of stepping motor to DC motor are recommended.

Development of A Rice Seed Pelleting Machine for Direct Seeding in Rice Cultivation (격파용 벼 펠렛종자 제조장치 개발)

  • 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 가. 벼 종자, 상토, 흔합 접착액 등 펠렛재료를 스크류 컨베이어에 의해 회전 성형롤에 공급, 압축성형 배출함으로써 직경 12 mm의 구형 벼 펠렛종자를 제조할 수 있는 벼 펠렛종자 제조장치를 설계·제작하였다. 나. 설계·제작된 벼 펠렛종자 제조장치의 제조능력은 시간 당 약 13,000 개 ∼ 37,000 개인 것으로 나타났고 이때 성형률은 약 61% ∼ 71%였다. 하지만 벼 종자 손실률은 약 17% ∼ 48%로 매우 큰 것으로 나타나, 펠렛재료의 손실과 종자손상을 줄이기 위한 성형롤 및 펠렛재료 공급장치의 개선이 필요한 것으로 보인다. 다. 제조된 펠렛종자의 무게는 제조 직후에는 1.66 g, 완전 건조 후에는 약 1.3 g으로 나타났으며, 제조된 펠렛종자의 직경은 약 12.0 mm에서 건조 후 약 11.2 mm로 축소되었다. 라. 제조된 한 개의 벼 펠렛종자 내 포함된 벼 종자의 개수는 상토와 벼 종자의 혼합비에 따라 다르게 나타났는데 혼합비 6 : 1에서 펠렛종자 당 종자 개수는 4.1 립, 혼합비 7 : 1에서 3.6 립, 그리고 혼합비 8 : 1에서는 3.1 립으로 나타났다. 마. 건조 후 벼 펠렛종자의 압축강도를 측정한 결과 건조기를 이용한 경우는 118 N ∼ 137 N, 음지 건조의 경우는 88 N ∼ 108 N으로 조사되었으며, 대체적으로 운반 및 파종 과정에서의 취급성은 문제가 없을 것으로 보인다.

Development of An Impact-Type Seed-Metering Device for Rice-Seed Pellets (벼 펠렛 종자용 타격식 파종장치 개발)

  • An impact-type seed-metering device was developed for the planting of rice-pellets. In this study, new design of pellet-metering device focused on simplicity and precision seeding for the planting of rice-seed pellets. In addition of seed-metering device, several devices were also developed such as seed-guiding device, seed-supplying tube and furrow opener for precision pellet planting. Field test was conducted to estimate the planting performance of the developed metering device. As a cam rotates, the impact bar of the metering device pushes a rice-seed pellet so that the seed can be discharged from the seed-supplying tube in the impact-type seed-metering device. Results of the tests showed that mean seeding spacing was 12cm at the traveling speed of 1.0m/s, corresponding to a target spacing for planting of rice-seed pellets. Also, both miss-seeded rate and damaged-seed rate were less than 2.0%, indicating acceptable levels for the precision planting. The developed mechanism of the impact-type metering device can be directly applied to the design of metering devices for the precision pellet planting of other crops.

Commercialization of Patented Technology on Turfgrass Production in Korea (잔디 생산 특허기술의 현황 및 산업화)

  • This study was carried out to introduce a couple of commercialized patented technologies in the area of turfgrass production. All sod production related patents in Korea during the period from Dec. 20, 1948 to Dec. 30, 2005 were reviewed. Details of two patents (patent No. 0434389 and 0478194) were included. The results are summarized as follows: 1. One of the domestic patents on sod production was the technique using natural and plastic films. Information on topsoil mixtures was also reviewed form foreign patents. 2. Patented multi-purpose sowing equipment can evenly mix soil, sand, fertilizer and other soil conditioners with seed, stolen and rhizome of turfgrass. 3. Patent on cool-season turfgrass sod production provide topsoil mixture combination and mixing ratio for sports field, landscape area and roof garden.

  • 농가에서는 재배하고 있는 과채류는 접목하지 않은 실생묘를 육묘하여 사용하거나 공정육묘장에서 실생묘 혹은 접목묘를 구입하여 사용하고 있으며, 특히 접목묘의 경우는 거의 대부분 공정육묘장에서 육묘된 모를 사용하고 있다. 수박, 오이, 참외의 박과채소는 연작장해의 피해를 줄이고 만할병을 방지하며 저온신장을 도모하기 위해서 접목재배를 많이 실시하고 있다. 또한 터널이나 노지 재배의 경우에는 접목을 하게되면 내습성을 높일 수 있다. 참외의 경우에는 세근이 많이 발달하지만 흡비력이 약하다. 그러나 대목으로 쓰이는 호박은 뿌리의 발달이 왕성할 뿐만 아니라 흡비력이 강하다. Specifics in Weed Competition and Herbicide Response of Radish(Raphanus sativus L.) Under Foggy Condition (안개에 기인하는 무우(Raphanus sativus L.)의 잡초경합(雜草競合) 및 제초제반응(除草劑反應) 특이성(特異性))

  • The objectives of the present study were to find out 1)the differences in growth of radish under foggy and non-foggy condition, 2)the weed competition between radish and major upland weeds including Echinochloa crus-galli, 3)difference in response of radish to herbicide and weed, and finally 4)the fundamental data for the establishment of radish weed control system under locational foggy regions. The research was carried out by tray in greenhouse equipped with Auto Foggy System(SAE KI RIN Co.) and results were summarized as follows. 1. Plant height and shoot fresh weight of radish cultivars(long skirt, delicious altari, green mascot) were not different at the early growth(8 to 38 days after seeding), but increased at 55 days after seeding under foggy condition. Root fresh weight increased only in green mascot cultivar tinder foggy condition. Chlorophyll contents were higher in all the cultivars of radish under foggy condition. 2. Plant height and shoot fresh weight increased at 0 and 20 days of weed competition under foggy condition. Root fresh weight increased at 0, 20 and 35 days of competition under foggy condition. Above 50 days-competition, there was no difference between foggy and non-foggy condition. 3. Napropamide, alachlor and linuron did not show any differences in plant height and shoot fresh weight between foggy and non-foggy condition. Molinate reduced the root fresh weight at 65 days after seeding tinder foggy condition. 4. No difference in weeding efficacy by any herbicides tested was found tinder foggy condition. Weeding efficacy of Aeschynomene indica was reduced under foggy condition.

Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries in Naver News by Web Crolling : Based on Keyword Analysis and Semantic Network Analysis (웹 크롤링에 의한 네이버 뉴스에서의 한국농수산대학 - 키워드 분석과 의미연결망분석 -)

  • This study was conducted to find information on the university's image from words related to 'Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries (KNCAF)' in Naver News. For this purpose, word frequency analysis, TF-IDF evaluation and semantic network analysis were performed using web crawling technology. In word frequency analysis, 'agriculture', 'education', 'support', 'farmer', 'youth', 'university', 'business', 'rural', 'CEO' were important words. In the TF-IDF evaluation, the key words were 'farmer', 'dron', 'agricultural and livestock food department', 'Jeonbuk', 'young farmer', 'agriculture', 'Chonju', 'university', 'device', 'spreading'. In the semantic network analysis, the Bigrams showed high correlations in the order of 'youth' - 'farmer', 'digital' - 'agriculture', 'farming' - 'settlement', 'agriculture' - 'rural', 'digital' - 'turnover'. As a result of evaluating the importance of keywords as five central index, 'agriculture' ranked first. And the keywords in the second place of the centrality index were 'farmers' (Cc, Cb), 'education' (Cd, Cp) and 'future' (Ce). The sperman's rank correlation coefficient by centrality index showed the most similar rank between Degree centrality and Pagerank centrality. The KNCAF articles of Naver News were used as important words such as 'agriculture', 'education', 'support', 'farmer', 'youth' in terms of word frequency. However, in the evaluation including document frequency, the words such as 'farmer', 'dron', 'Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs', 'Jeonbuk', and 'young farmers' were found to be key words. The centrality analysis considering the network connectivity between words was suitable for evaluation by Cd and Cp. And the words with strong centrality were 'agriculture', 'education', 'future', 'farmer', 'digital', 'support', 'utilization'.

Development of a Metering Device for the Garlic Planter (마늘파종기용 배종장치 개발)

  • Garlic clove planting is one of the most laborious operations in Korean farming. The garlic planting has been done manually; therefore, it requires tremendous amounts of human labor resulting in the increase of production cost. This problem necessitated the development of a garlic clove metering device fur the planter. The device was fabricated to meter a single garlic clove with a scooping bucket(29mm in diameter and 8mm in depth) designed after the image of clove's bottom shape. The lift angle of the metering plate and the magnitude of vibration were also affected the metering performance. The angle clove metering rates ranged 95.4~96.7% with the missing rate of 0.0~1.3% at the 80~85 degrees of the tilt angle and vibration level 2(1.985 m/s$^2$).
