Continuous Multiple Phase Differential Detection of Trellis-coded MDPSK-OFDM (연속적인 다중 위상 검출을 이용한 트렐리스 부호화된 MDPSK-OFDM)

  • In this paper, the Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics of the squared Euclidean distance with multiple order phase differences is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the trellis-coded MDPSK-OFDM. The proposed Viterbi decoder is conceptually same as the Continuous multiple phase differential detection method that uses the branch metric with multiple phase differences. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbi decoder improves BER performance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency Also. the proposed algorithm ran be used in the single carrier modulation.

  • This paper proposes a selection combined hybrid sequential deconvolution and single carrier modulation with a zero forcing frequency domain equalizer for single carrier transmission system in order to enhance performance. Selection combining method is an algorithm of antenna space diversities, the receiver can choose the best channel environment only with the increase of the number of antennas, but a baseband structure is the same as the traditional receiver architecture. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a better performance rather than the traditional single carrier transmission with a frequency domain equalizer.

Performance Analysis of Trellis Coded OFDM/M-ary PSK Systems in the presence of tarrier Frequency Offset (반송파 주파수 오프셋의 존재하에서 Trellis Coded OFDM/M-ary PSK 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, the BER performance of OFDM/M-ary PSK systems is analyzed with considering carrier-frequency offset and TCM technique, which encodes and modulations simultaneously, is adopted to OFDWM-ary PSK systems for compensation of performance degradation according to carrier-frequency offset. As a result of analysis, the error performance of OFDM/M-ary PSK systems is degraded as the frequency offset is increased. And the frequency offset should be below 0.025 in order to achieve $BER= 10^{-3}$ with $E_b/N_o$ of 10 dB. Especially, when the TCM technique is adopted to OFDM/M-ary PSK systems, the performance improvement of about 4 dB is obtained in terms of $E_b/N_o$.

  • Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨인버터의 스위칭 패턴을 기본파 생성을 위한 저주파 동작과 파형 개선 목적의 고주파 PWM 스위칭 패턴으로 구분하여 스위칭 손실을 감소시킬 수 있지만 입력단의 DC 독립전압원은 각 H-bridge 모듈이 담당하는 출력전압의 레벨에 따라 용량의 차이가 발생한다. 이는 각 H-Bridge 모듈 스위치의 전류 스트레스 차이를 의미하며, 이로 인해 H-bridge 모듈별 수명 차이를 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 용량 창이에 따른 모듈 특성 개선과 인버터 수명 문제를 해결하기 위하여 기존의 다중 반송파 정현 펄스폭 변조방식에 스와핑 스위칭 방법을 적용하여 Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨인버터에 적용함으로써 스위칭 손실 개선과 함께 각 H-bridge 별 담당 부하 전력을 동일하게 하여 동일 전류 정격 스위치의 사용을 가능하게 한다. 제안된 스와핑 스위칭 패턴을 PD, POD, APOD방식으로 구현하고 이론적 분석과 시뮬레이션을 통해 타당성을 검증한다.

  • This paper is related with optimum burst structure design for high efficient TDMA satellite return link transmission. In general, some typical burst structure for data transmission is composed of a pair of preamble and traffic data in the DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting. Return Channel via Satellite) and IPOS (IP over Satellite) standard. This structure has some difficulties to increase spectral efficiency that it requires a large of preamble length, high SNR environment, or receiver complexity. To cope with them, burst structure with distributed pilot symbol can be used to alleviate the residual frequency offset effect by calculating accurate frequency offset than conventional one. In particular, we investigate some relevant to proposed distributed pilot structure, previously and analyze their strong points/drawbacks in terms of synchronization to draw the most appropriate one.

  • This paper addresses the current measurement issue of all digital field oriented control of ac motors. The p paper focuses on the effect of low-pass filter and also on the sampling of the fundamental component of the m motor current. The low-pass filter, which suppresses the switching noise of the motor current, introduces v variable phase delay according to the current ripple frequency. It is shown that the current sampling error c consists of the fundamental component and high frL'quency ripple components. In this paper, the dependency of t this current sampling e$\pi$or on the reference voltage vector is investigated analytically and a sampling technique i is proposed to minimize the error. The work is based on the three phase symmetry pulse width modulation l inverter driving an induction machine. With this technique, the bandwidth of current regulator can be extended t to the limit given by the switching frequency of the inverter and more precise torque regulation is possible.

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)is a one of the nst promising digital modulation techniques adapted for Digital audio broadcasting or Digital TV since it is very robust against multipath fading channels. From 1997, since the OFDM technique was considered as the physical layer standard for the high data rate wireless LAN systems in the 5㎓ band, related studies have been studied actively. The key element to implement high data rate wireless LAN system using OFDM technique are IFFT and FFT modules. In this paper, new IFFT and FFT module are designed and implemented using current cut circuit based on the matrix-rounding process for the low-power consumptive operation and high-speed data processing. In addition to, we certify the available operation of the rounded IFFT/FFT module in the AWGN channel by using the BER performance simulation of IEEE 802.11TGa based OFDM modem with rounded IFFT/FFT module.

  • In this paper, it is presented a level sensor for measuring a level of the contents of cargo tank using frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW). The frequency range is 10∼11 GHz, the radar cross section(RCS) of test target is $0.8\textrm{m}^2$ of metal plate. The experiment is performed in laboratory and open ground, the sweep time of the signal is 100 ms, the pyramidal horn antenna of about 22 dBi gain is used, and input power of antenna is about 8 dBm The beat frequency according to the target moving to 40 m is measured. There is a good agreement between measured and calculated results. But the resolution of the FMCW radar is measured about 10 cm due to nonlinear of voltage controlled oscillator(VCO).

  • In this paper, the performance of a multicarrier CDMA system applying adaptive modulation and adaptive subchannel allocation scheme is analyzed in wireless environment. In case of the proposed system, total subchannels is 4 and data is transmitted over 2 subchannels with the biggest fading, Threshold of each channels is 5.2 ㏈, 9 ㏈, 13.2 ㏈ and 8.4 ㏈, 12.2 ㏈, 16.3 ㏈. The BER of 10-3 is 8.1 ㏈. This is increased 12.9 ㏈ in comparison with the existing system. The BPS according to average channel is needed average E$_{b}$ N$_{o}$ of about 15 ㏈ in 7 bit.t.

  • Induction motors are widely used as a source of driving force in electric vehicles and pulse width modulation (PWM) inverters are applied to their operation. The issue is that insulation of inverter-fed induction motors (IFMs) are more stressed than in line-powered motors by transient voltages. This paper dealt with experimental results on transient voltage produced by the PWM operation of an induction motor. The peak and the dv/dt of transient voltage depending on the length of power feeding cable and operating frequency were investigated. In the experiment, transient voltages up to 3.3PU of the rated-inverter voltage were recorded for the cable length of 50m. As the cable length is increased, the peak voltage appeared at the motor terminals increases. This phenomenon can be explained by the reflection and the transmission of travelling wave. Consequently, special care for the cable length between the motor and the inverter should be taken in the use of IFM to ensure the full life of insulation system.
