  • In this paper, we analyze the economic ripple effects of technology related to the unmanned aerial vehicle industry by applying industry association analysis. Specifically, the effects of employment creation, value added inducement, sensitivity coefficient, and influence coefficient can be calculated, and implications for the analysis result are presented. As a result, the employment inducement effect was confirmed to be 10.017 persons per 1 billion won of investment. The value added inducement effect was much higher than the other manufacturing industry average (employment inducement coefficient: 2.285, value added inducement coefficient: 0.581) when the 1 won budget was added, resulting in 0.9771 won added value. In the unmanned aerial vehicle industry, the coefficient of sensitivity, which means the front chain effect, is 0.7870, which is lower than the manufacturing average (sensitivity coefficient 1.125), and the coefficient of influence, which means the backward chain effect, is 1.161, which is higher than the manufacturing average (influence coefficient: 1.116). Therefore, it is classified as the final demand manufacturing industry. This means that the unmanned aerial vehicle industry is an industry that is less affected by economic fluctuations and can be interpreted as an industry with a greater economic impact than other sectors. Based on these data, it can be used to establish the R&D investment direction policy of the unmanned aerospace industry.

  • Since the 1970s, manufacturing has been one of the key driving forces that has led to Korea's economic growth. However, this growth rate has been reduced significantly since the 2000s, and shows that revenues and employment are steadily decreasing. In addition, while manufacturing investment in Korea has dropped sharply, the United States, Germany, Japan, and other major countries have increased investment in manufacturing. These countries have promoted manufacturing innovation strategies that include the convergence of information and communications technologies (ICT) and manufacturing. For manufacturing innovation, it is important for time and cost savings required for product development to be achieved by changes in the production process, especially product design. Modeling and simulation (M&S) is a process that replaces physical product design, mockup making, and testing, with virtual product creation (modeling) and engineering analysis (simulation). In this paper, we analyze the economic ripple effect of supercomputing M&S using an input-output model technique based on the input-output tables published by the Bank of Korea. When we set the M&S budget (about US$16 million for the last 10 years) of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) as input coefficients, the effect on production inducement, value-added inducement, and employment inducement was analyzed to be US$24 million, US$13.4 million, and 267, respectively.

  • This study aims to analyze how much KF-X production impacts on national economy by measuring economic spread effect based on inter-industry analysis. In order to evaluate the economic impact of KF-X production, we used input-output table of year 2007 of Korea. The results shows that KF-X production induces the production of 3,129 billon won and the value added of 1,206 billon won respectively. Also there are the creation of about 13,208 employment in the industry. The results from this study can be used as a basis for the further research on whether or not KF-X production could be processed.

  • This research was about the economic impact and the development plan by analyzing satisfaction and the contributions of Keochang International Festival(KIFT) that visitors recognize. It also sought ways to the development of an KIFT by conducting in-depth interviews with experts. According to the survey of visitors' recognition, KIFT contributed to the regional and the arts development. And it also showed that people recognize the contribution to imaging Keochang as the city of art. In regard to the visitors' satisfaction, they were satisfied generally with the festival and performance, but the satisfaction level was quite low with the traffic, service quality, etc. In respect to the economic impacts, the direct cost effect caused by holding the theater festival was 128,000 thousand won in 2013. Also the annual economic(indirect) impact on the production was 16 billion won, personal income 319,358 thousand won, added-value 7,549,540 thousand won, and taxes 780,733 thousand won.

  • This paper computes the economic impact of handset subsidies using the recent Input-Output Tables and compares the results with other alternatives which telecommunications companies can choose. The first scenario is that telecommunications companies give handset subsidies to consumers and sales agents. The second is that the companies do not give the subsidies to them, but instead spend the same amount of subsidy on facility investment. The third is that the companies lower the prices of their mobile communications services and consumers spend the saved expenses on other goods and services. The result is that the production, value added, import, job, employment inducement coefficients of the first scenario is larger than those of the second and third scenarios. The reason is as follows. The handset subsidy results in the incentive to consumers for handset purchase or the incentive for sales agents to sell the telecommunication services of the companies. The former has larger production and import inducement effect, and the latter also has larger value-added, job, and employment inducement effect than those of other scenarios.

  • Korea shared 2.4% of world culture contents market in 2006 and ranked 9th. Therefore Korean government classified culture contents industry as a new growth-driving industries and started fixing the total contents policy promote system, exterminating illegal copying, protect copyright, improving contents creativity power, and supporting foreign market pioneering. Thus the importance of culture contents industry is increasing day by day. This study analyze the amount changes about production-inducing effect, value-added-inducing effects, employ-inducing effect, supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect, using inter-industry analysis according to time series. Especially, the sectoral price effect of culture contents industry increased by time pass. Thus, the influence of price changes in the culture contents industry to the other industries are increasing.

  • This paper presents theoretical explanations about the spill-over effects of domestic production of light rail transit and empirically investigates its effects on output, value-added and employment in the Korean economy. We distinguish net gains of domestic production from gross effects that bring about whether localized or imported cars are used. The input-output analysis is employed to fully capture the interaction among various industries involved. The empirical results reveal that net gains of domestic production such as import substitution, improvement of trade balances, and increase in output, value-added and employment are enormous. The cost reduction in construction, E&M systems, cars, management, and tariff and transportation is also significant.
