The winning probability in Korean series of Korean professional baseball (한국 프로야구 우승 결정방식에서의 우승확률)

  • In Korean professional baseball the championship team of the year is determined by the four series of games: semi-semi-playoff, semi-playoff, playoff and korean series. To the top 5 teams in a regular season privileges are given to play the games at post season. At semi-semi playoff the winner of two teams which are ranked at 4th and 5th place in the regular season can advance to the game of semi playoff. The winner at semi playoff advances to the playoff to play with the second place team in the regular season. Finally, the championship team is to be determined in the Korean series between the winner of the playoff and the first ranked team in the regular season. We propose methods of how to calculate the winning probabilities of each of high ranked 5 teams advancing to Korean series. From our proposed methods we can estimate the championship probabilities of each of high ranked 5 teams advancing to the Korean series only if we know the winning probabilities between two teams in the regular season or the post season.

Comparative Evaluation of Exercise Effects of Motion-based Sports Game (체감형 스포츠 게임의 운동 효과 비교 평가)

  • A motion-based sports game uses a motion sensor or a camera to exercise based on body movements, and it is possible to obtain exercise effects such as improving physical strength while enjoying the game. In prior works, various studies such as usability evaluation has been conducted on motion-based sports games. However, there has been no discussion about how the exercise effect is exerted on users when experiencing motion-based sports games as individual or team play. This study compared the user's exercise effects by analyzing the user's ECG (Electrocardiogram) sensor and the Kinect sensor's skeletal information using Nintendo Switch game that is played individually and as a team. In this paper, the experimental design and method, the quantitative measurement results based on ECG and Kinect, and the results of the post-test subjective measurement are discussed.

The Dynamics of Organizational Change: Moderated Mediating Effects of NBA Teams' Playoff Berth (조직변화와 성과 간 상호역동에 관한 연구: 미국프로농구팀의 트레이드와 플레이오프 진출 여부에 따른 조절된 매개효과)

  • Organizations must seek change in order to adapt to environmental changes and achieve better performance. However, despite this obvious statement, empirical analysis has been almost non-existent due to the difficulty of manipulating organizational performance or change. In this study, we overcame these limitations and analyzed the causes and effects of organizational change by assuming a professional sports team as a venture company, which is relatively easy to objectively measure and evaluate organizational change or performance. We systematically collected and preprocessed traditional and advanced metrics of National Basketball Association (NBA) statistics along with preprocessed trade data from eight years of regular seasons (2014~2015-2021~2022) to analyze our research model. Assessment of process macro model 7 derives the following empirical result. The results of the empirical analysis depict that NBA teams with low organizational performance in the previous season are more likely to make organizational changes through player trades to improve performance. Into the bargain player trades mediate the static relationship between the winning percentage in the previous season and the winning percentage in the current season. However, the indirect effect of a team's previous season's performance on player trades appears to vary depending on the current situations and context of each NBA team. Teams that made the playoffs in the previous season tend to make fewer trades than teams that did not and the previous season's performance is highly correlated with the current season's performance. On the other hand, teams that did not make the playoffs in the previous season tend to make a relatively larger amount of player trades in total, and the mediating effect of trades vanishes in this case. In other words, teams that did not make the playoffs in the previous season experience a larger change in performance due to trades than teams that made the playoffs, even if they achieved the same winning percentage. This empirical analysis of the inverse relationship between organizational change and the performance of professional sports teams has both theoretical and practical implications in the field of sports industry and management by analyzing the fundamentals of organizational change and the performance of professional sports teams.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 2002년 한 일 월드컵에서 우승을 차지한 브라질의 7경기를 대상으로 축구 경기를 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구에 사용된 경기 분석용 비디오테이프는 FIFA에서 인정한 공식 중계방송사인 한국방송공사(KBS)의 중계 자료를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 통계 처리는 SPSS프로그램을 이용하여 상관관계분석(Pearson Correlation)을 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 브라질 팀은 득점할 수 있는 비율이 높은 수비에서 최종공격수로 바로 연결되는 역습에 의한 공격(20.0%), 미더필드를 통한 빠른 공격(20.0%), 세트 플레이에 의한 공격(15.5%), 공격지역에서 볼을 뺏은 후 공격(18.5%)으로 다양한 공격 전술을 구사하여 상대 팀보다 많은 득점기회를 얻었다. 둘째, 브라질 팀은 골키퍼를 제외한 전 선수의 볼 소유 횟수가 비슷하게 나타나서, 전 선수가 고르게 활약했다. 경기의 질을 나타내는 지수인 인덱스에서는 수비수 중에는 중앙 수비수가 3.3, 미드필더 중에는 왼쪽 중앙 미드필더가 5.0, 공격수 중에는 중앙 공격수가 1.4로 포지션별로 제일 높게 나타나서 경기에서 중요한 역할을 수행하였다. 셋째, 브라질 팀은 세트플레이 성공률과 공격지역에서의 볼 점유율의 증가를 통하여 골당공격성공률을 높인 것으로 나타났다.

Exploratory Approach of Social Gameplay Behavior Pattern : Case Study of World of Warcrafts (소셜 게임플레이 행동패턴의 탐색적 접근 : World of Warcrafts를 중심으로)

  • The objective of this research is to discover the rule of gameplay related to the task interdependence to analyse the behavior pattern of social gameplay. Previous literatures related to the gameplay were reviewed and game which was suitable for the gameplay of the task interdependence was selected. A party-play includes a team of five people in the experiment during the gameplay with think-aloud method and video/audio data about action protocol and verbal report were collected. The video observation and protocol analysis were conducted to analyse data. The objective coding scheme were developed from consolidated sequence model task analysis. The player's behavior was analysed. The result was revealed that four rules and four modified rules were included into the total eight behavior pattern. A behavior graph integrated with five gameplay was written. The excellent cooperative spot and error and failure place could be identified. The social gameplay behavior graph is expected to be the key practical design guideline on whether the level design and balance design are proper.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동형 패럴랙스 배리어 방식의 모바일 3D 디스플레이에 응용하기 위해 개발된 시역계측알고리즘[1]을 실제시스템에 구현한 후 문제점을 분석하고, 그 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 본 연구팀에서 이동형 패럴랙스 배리어 방식의 모바일 3D 디스플레이에 응용하기 위해 개발한 이전의 시역계측기술[1]은 기존의 비올라-존스 얼굴 검출기[2]에 의한 얼굴검출 결과와 비올라-존스 얼굴 검출기의 단점을 보완하기 위해 새롭게 추가된 옵티컬-플로우 특징점 추적 알고리즘[3]에 의한 얼굴검출의 두 결과를 선형적으로 결합하여 시청자의 시역위치를 예측하였다. 하지만, 모바일 3D 디스플레이의 특성한 급격한 조명의 변화에서 옵티컬-플로우에 의한 특징점 추적알고리즘에 심각한 오류가 발생하는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 급격한 조명의 변화에 대한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 매 프레임마다 정확하게 옵티컬-플로우 얼굴 검출기의 정확도를 판단할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고, 다양한 실험을 통해 그 효과를 검증한다.

  • MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) 기반의 게임 서비스는 현재 가장 관심을 받고 있는 게임 장르의 한 종류이다. MOBA 장르와 같은 게임들은 플레이어의 실력도 중요하지만 같은 팀원간의 협력과 전략이 중요한 요소 중에 하나이다. 이러한 상황에서 악의적의 의도로 자신의 비정상적인 플레이를 한다거나 욕설 등의 팀의 사기를 저하시키는 플레이어들이 문제가 되고 있다. 이러한 플레이어들의 제재를 위해 몇 가지 시스템들이 제안 되고 있지만 그들에 대한 판단은 쉽지 않다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 PageRank 를 기반으로 하는 불량 플레이어의 판단에 대한 보조 시스템을 제안 한다. 이 시스템의 MOBA 게임 플레이어의 플레이 횟수, 신고 횟수, 신고 받은 횟수 등의 자료들을 이용하여 플레이어의 Judgment Points 와 Bad Player 지수를 파악하며 이를 기반으로 생성된 Bad Player 랭킹을 통하여 불량 플레이어 검색에 도움을 줄 것으로 예상된다.

  • 일반적으로 멀티 온라인 배틀 게임은 게임의 참가자들이 팀을 이루어 전략을 짜고 협력하여 주어진 목적을 성취하면 승리한다. 게임에서는 승리를 판가름 할 수 있는 다양한 요소(e.g. 골드, 아이템, 캐릭터의 레벨 등)들이 있다. 본 논문에서는 게임 플레이 중에 다양한 요소를 분석하여 실시간으로 승률을 예측할 수 있는 딥러닝 기반의 모델을 제안하고 이를 리그오브레전드 게임에 적용하여 그 결과를 분석하였다.

Win-Loss Prediction Using AOS Game User Data

  • E-sports, a burgeoning facet of modern sports culture, has achieved global prominence. Particularly, Aeon of Strife (AOS) games, emblematic of E-sports, blend individual player prowess with team dynamics to significantly influence outcomes. This study aggregates and analyzes real user gameplay data using statistical techniques. Furthermore, it develops and tests win-loss prediction models through machine learning, leveraging a substantial dataset of 1,149,950 individual data points and 230,234 team data points. These models, employing five machine learning algorithms, demonstrate an average accuracy of 80% for individual and 95% for team predictions. The findings not only provide insights beneficial to game developers for enhancing game operations but also offer strategic guidance to general users. Notably, the team-based model outperformed the individual-based model, suggesting its superior predictive capability.

Empirical Study on Female Characters in Team based Battle Games Preferred by Female Gamers (팀 기반 전투형 게임에서 여성 게이머가 선호하는 여성 캐릭터에 대한 실증적 조사 연구)

  • While there is no apparent gender difference on the number of game players and playing time in market survey especially if the age group is under 30, there still exists a strong gender stereotype on female characters with sexual objectification especially in team based battle games. Furthermore, there seldom exists any research on female gamers in this genre. In this paper, we investigate the preference of female characters and reasons of their choice among female gamers with Overwatch and Cypers which are recognized as having enough female players. In Overwatch with 231 responses, subjects prefer 'girl-crush' characters such as non-sexual Ana who age is in 60s. However, in Cypers that does not have female warrior character, subjects' preference is more affected by appearance but those characters with less functional ability are not frequently used in playing. Such practical avatar choice is often discovered among male players thus there is no gender difference in this case.
