Characteristics of Interactions between Fan and Celebrities on Twitter (유명인과의 트위터 매개 상호작용 특성 탐색)

  • The present study explored types of Twitter-mediated communication and emotional responses of Twitter users toward celebrities. Three perspectives of para-social interactions, information hub, and fandom were proposed as communication types on Twitter. Celebrities were classified by entertainer, politician, specialist, and blogger. Communication patterns according to each category of celebrities were analyzed. The patterns of emotional responses, which represents the use of emoticons and emotional expressions were also analyzed. The results show that the type of para-social interactions was frequently accepted for the interactions with politicians and specialists, while fandom style was salient for the entertainers. For the power bloggers, the users tend to adopt the type of information hub interaction. The use of emotions and emotional expressions were most frequent in case of fandom style communication and the messages to the entertainers. Implications were further discussed.

Twitter and Retweet Context: User Characteristics and Message Attributes of Twitter for PR and Marketing (기업의 홍보 마케팅용 트위터의 리트윗 현황 분석: 이용자 특성과 콘텐츠 속성을 중심으로)

  • The rapid growth and popularity of Twitter have been one of the most influential phenomena in the era of social network system and the mobile internet, which also opens up opportunities for new business strategies; in particular, PR and marketing area. This study analyzed use of Twitter in terms of user characteristics and message attributes. Actual field data from the Twitter for PR and Marketing of a representative Korean IT company (Company "K") was used for this analysis. Research findings show that overall corporate twitter users show passive attitude in retweet behavior. Also, users who have relatively small network size (less than 1,000) are more active in retweet than power twitterians that have big network size(over than 10,000). It is showed that the rate of retweet is higher in the order of recruiting, promotional event, IT information, and general PR message. In the conclusion section, practical implications based on the research finding are thoroughly discussed.

Self-Disclosure and Boundary Impermeability among Languages of Twitter Users (트위터 이용자의 언어권별 자기노출 및 경계 불투과성)

  • Using bigdata analysis procedures, the present study sought to review and explore the various aspects of self-disclosure and boundary impermeability of worldwide twitter users. A total of 415 million tweets issued by 54 million users were collected during 6 months and the users of top 10 languages were investigated. And the effect of languages of twitter users on the boundary impermeability, disclosure rate of user profile, profile image, geographical information, URL in profile and user description were analyzed in this study. The results showed that the boundary impermeability and all the self-disclosure rates of twitter users (profile, profile image, geographical information, URL in profile, user description) were significantly (p<0.001) different among language groups of users. The self-disclosure rates and the average points of Portuguese, Indonesian and Spanish users were higher than those of Arabic, Japanese, Turkish and Korean users. The results also showed a positive relationship between boundary impermeability and the number of tweets (including retweets) issued by each users.

  • 최근 기존 블로그와 다른 마이크로 블로그의 한 종류로 트위터가 인터넷 상에서 화두로 대두되고 있다. 트위터는 기존 블로그나 미니홈피의 여러 가지 기능을 간소화하고 짧은 내용의 텍스트만을 올릴 수 있는 마이크로 블로그이다. 그런 이유로 트위터는 단순함과 즉시성이라는 고유의 특성을 가지고 일반적인 인터넷 이용자들에게 급속하게 알려지고 있다. 이러한 트위터를 분석하면 다양한 주제에 대해서 인터넷상의 대중들의 생각과 의견들을 알 수 있는 창구가 될 수 있다. 또한 다른 언어권 국가들의 트위터와 비교하면 양 국가간의 문화적 차이를 알 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국어 및 영어권 이용자들의 트위터 상의 메시지를 주제별, 목적별 등으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 한국에서는 트위터 이용을 개인적인 생각을 적는 일기장으로 많이 사용되지만, 영어권 에서는 그 외에도 보도 자료나 광고등 여러 가지 목적으로 사용되고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다.

Intermedia Agenda-setting Effects: Political Debates on TV and Twitter (트위터의 매체 간 의제설정 : TV 토론 방송과 트위터의 여론 형성 과정에 관한 연구)

  • This study attempts to explore the inter-media agenda setting effect between television and Twitter based on the framework of the two-step flow theory. Twitter's increasingly important role in political communication can be effectively addressed by examining the process by which Twitter users form their opinions on television debate program. Content analyses of Twitter discussions after television debate of the Korean presidential candidates provided interesting insights into how Twitter's opinion leaders reflect on the televised debates. The results show that Twitter mentions rather focus on personality traits of the candidates while television debates emphasize the candiates' policy issues. Specifically, Twitter users mainly concentrated on the political ideology and morality of the candidates. In sum, Twitter seems to have its own way of influencing the public opinion separately from the television.

  • Nowadays, Social Network Service (SNS), which has been in the spotlight as a way of communication, has become a most effective tool to improve easy of information use and accessibility for users. In this paper, we chose Twitter as the most representative SNS services because of automatic crawling and investigated tweet data gathered from domestic and foreign National Archives - NARA of U.S.A., TNA of U.K.. NAA of Australia, and National Archives of Korea. We also conducted information genres analysis and trend analysis by timeline. Information genres analysis shows how archives satisfied users' information needs as well as trends analysis of tweets helps to understand how users' interestedness was changed. Based on comparison results, we distilled four characteristics of National Archives and suggested vitalization ways for National Archives of Korea.

  • This study focused on the difference of the volume of sanitory pad issue and The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the characteristics of SNS and the diffusion of issue in the process of crisis issue. SNS is categorized into communication diffusion, communication restriction,, diffusion, restriction base on the media interactivity and the user interactivity, In case of Twitter, media interactivity is low and user interactivity is low. In case of Youtube, media interactivity and user interactivity are all high. Crisiss issue is interactively diffused via Youtube compared to via Twitter. There was a negative public opinion in social media even if the government and the manufacturer said that there was no harm in the sanitary goods. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of social media environment in the diffusion of information. The government prepared for the use of SNS in crisis because there was a negative opinion on the government and the manufacturer via SNS.

  • 본 연구는 한국 공공도서관의 소셜 미디어 마케팅이 실제로 어떤 효과를 나타내고 있는지를 실증적으로 검토하기 위해 수행되었다. 분석에는 공공도서관의 2012년 트위터 사용 데이터, 국가도서관 통계를 사용하였다. 트위터를 활용한 그룹과 활용하지 않은 그룹 간의 대출량 및 이용자량 변화에 대한 t검정, 트위터 활동 데이터와 대출량 및 이용자량 변화 간의 선형 회귀분석이 수행되었으며, 그 결과 두 분석 모두 유의한 결과를 도출하지 못하였다. 이를 기반으로 표본 문제, 트위터 계정 활용 문제, 성과 지표 문제를 제시하였다.

Information Diffusion Difference by Product Type Based on Social Media Type (소셜 미디어 유형에 기반한 제품유형에 따른 정보 확산 차이)

  • This study aims to understand the differences in the media characteristics of two types of media, namely, Blog and Twitter, as well as in their factors that affect product information diffusion. To achieve these objectives, the information diffusion pattern is identified by analyzing the number of product-related posts in each media based on the Bass model. The analysis results revealed that the information diffusion speed of hedonic goods was faster than that of utilitarian goods. Regardless of product type, Twitter had a higher imitation effect than Blog, while Blog had a higher innovation effect than Twitter. The results implied that users of Blog tended to find information by themselves while those of Twitter relied more on the others' evaluation than their own subjective evaluations of innovations.

  • With the fast increment of smart phone users and extension of wireless internet the number of SNS user is also increasing. Twitter among lots of SNS takes the lead in SNS market. Twiter users express their thinking and feelings. In this paper, by analyzing twitts near the distribution enterprise using opinion mining. And by analyzing concern degree using the number of twitts and positive, neutral, negative degree we deliver marketing message to marketer. As the result, we propose that marketing and management of this distribution enterprise can reflect the demand of customer who is near there.
