  • The current study aimed to find the effects of hair treatment with shea butter on bleached hair and hair protection. The agent for hair treatment with shea butter was developed in different concentration levels (0%,1%,3%,5%) for experimentation. After applying the agent to bleached hair, hair samples were evaluated as follows. Increase in hair thickness was highest in the hair sample that had 5% of shea butter. The amount of amino acids was also highest in the hair sample that contained 5% of shea butter. Comparing the difference of the surface color, hair sample with 5% of shea butter showed low level of L⁎ while the level of a⁎ value that reflects the redness was high and the level of b⁎ value that reflects yellowness was low. Observation through the scanning microscope confirmed the positive effects by showing smoother surfaces in the sample with shea butter than in the bleached hair. This study showed shea butter is considered to be cosmetics to protect damaged hair by bleaching.

  • Hair beauty treatments that can express individuality have increased and diversified. However, their repetitive use has also brought about hair damage. To reduce such damage, the importance of hair treatments when receiving chemotherapy has magnified greatly. In this study, the hair (normal hair, NH) of 5 people in their 20s has been collected and observed with SEM before dyeing (NH), after dyeing (DH) and after dyed and treated (DTH) to measure the hair's morphological damage and mineral content. SEM observation results revealed that, in DTH, a cuticle-like arrangement appears almost uniformly, the hair settles, the lines are smooth, and the damage degree is low. Regarding mineral content, the concentration of minerals was generally balanced. However, in the observation of toxic minerals and minerals found in large amounts, the concentration of Ba, Na, Ca, and Mg was higher than the balance range in NH, DH, and DTH.

  • This study attempted to find the optimum amount of manuka extract ingredient with hair treatments in different manuka extract contents and examine its bleached hair protection effects. For this, the tensile strength and moisture level of the damaged hair were measured. In addition, hair conditions were analyzed, using SEM and FE-SEM. In terms of protection of bleached hair, all experimental groups (M1, M2, M3) were more effective than the control group (no manuka extract added) in tensile strength, moisture level, hair thickness and cuticle conditions. In particular, 'M3 (3% manuka extract)' revealed the largest hair protection effects. The above results confirm that Manuka extract-added hair treatments would be useful in protecting damaged hair as well as scalp as a cosmetic material. It is anticipated that there would be further studies on diverse chemical treatments with a much wider variety of samples.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of home care hair treatment characteristics and frequency on hair during permanent wave treatment. The hair treatments distributed on the market were classified into cationic surfactants and silicone oil. Hair treatment was performed 5 times, 10 times, 20 times differently according to the frequency of use, and hair permanent wave was performed. The hair thickness, tensile strength, epidermal observation using SEM, and hair component analysis using EDS were performed as experimental methods. The results of the experiment showed that the natural-derived ingredient was the main ingredient, and the cationic surface activity and silicon oil-free product group had high hair protection effect. Therefore, the product group using natural ingredients should be further researched and developed, and the study on the method and frequency of use of products with irritant chemical ingredients should be conducted.

  • Stained and discolored hair will be damaged by the shampooing, daily UV disposal, and the use of hair dryer. Thus many studies about the effect of various natural substances on the re-secure the skin and scalp are recently reported. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of green tea (Camelloia sinensis) seed oil on colored (dyed) and decolored (bleached) hair. The beneficial effects of green tea seed oil are already well known, but little research has been done about the hair treatment and fade-resistant effect. Dyed and bleached hair was pretreated with green tea seed oil to determine the tensile strength and elongation of the hair, to analyze the hair surface using SEM, and to compare the color fade using spectrocolormeter. The results showed that the tensile strength increased with green tea seed oil pretreatment samples for virgin, dyed, and bleached hairs. Elongation showed the reverse results showing the presence of hair treatment effect. The results of the surface pre-treatment in all groups analyzed by SEM, the hair cuticle became sharper, so coating effect were identified with all samples. The value of the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ decreased with washed hairs damaged by UV irradiation and the values were decreased also in dyed and bleached hair. In summary, green tea seed oil prevent reinjury to the heat and UV rays for colored and decolored hairs. Cosmetic practice effects of the oil were identified in the field to be appropriate to the customer's skin and scalp that natural cosmetic oils would like to offer.

  • In the social atmosphere where the importance of appearance is increasing day by day, efforts and desires of modern people are becoming more active and diversified, and the beauty beauty industry is gradually becoming more specialized and specialized due to these effects. Hair damage is inevitable due to the excessive permanent wave or hair coloring of modern people. However, as the hair is damaged, the cuticle peels off and falls off, and the tensile force decreases and the satisfaction after hair styling or perm decreases relatively. Therefore, it is necessary to manage damaged hair, but since artificial synthetic products occupy most of hair treatment agents on the market, it is necessary to develop a hair treatment product containing antioxidants useful for the human body. In this study, the effect of maple leaf extract on the mechanical change of colored hair was analyzed to investigate the potential of maple leaf extract as a hair treatment agent to improve damaged hair and improve hair health. It is considered that this study will be used as basic data for the development of hair beauty products using natural products in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to maintain healthy hair by treatment. Frequent permutations cause a lot of damage to the ends of the hair, and use permant wave pre- and post-processing agents step by step to protect the damaged ends of the hair. The Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract used in this study are effective for anti-bacterial, antioxidant, anti-cancer blood circulation and skin moisturizing. This extract was soaked in 1 perm paper and 2 perm papers and wound, and then the cuticle, tensile strength and wave formation rate were investigated. An average comparison analysis was conducted, and when the ginkgo leaf extract was applied to two perm paper sheets, the permanent hair tip showed the highest hair improvement effect.

  • In this study, hair care effects of the hair cosmetics including low molecular weight silk peptide, hydrolysate which is produced from cocoon were investigated. After producing the hair cosmetics including silk peptide which has 300-500 molecular weight, we measured its hair care effects through the various tests; change of the hair weight, hair thickness, absorbance rate and hair moisture value and micro structure analysis. As a result, S.P.T. (Silk peptide Treatment) was effectively penetrated into the hair which has been damaged by chemical treatments, increased the hair weight, thickness and hair moisture value and also recovered the cuticle of the hair. Thus, the treatment of hair with silk peptide hydrolysate would be effective to recover the damaged hair into the normal conditions.

  • This study examined the effect of Jojoba oil on the protection of virgin black hair and hair damaged by bleaching. Both hair types were treated for 35 days with 100% Jojoba oil or one of two types of hair conditioner, one formulated with 3% of Jojoba oil and the other formulated without Jojoba oil. The effect of protection was examined in terms of the change in the color, tensile stress, weight, and amount of protein leak compared to untreated black hair or bleached hair. The composition of fatty acids in the Jojoba oil was analyzed using the Gas chromatography mass spectrometry. The differences among the three treatments were statistically tested by one-way analysis of variance test and the Duncan post-hoc test at α = .05. The main fatty acid contained in the Jojoba oil was 11-eicosenoic acid (75.14%). Based on the statistical test it was found that 100% Jojoba oil was the most effective in increasing the tensile stress of black hair and the weight of bleached hair after 35 days of treatment.
