  • Recently there are many development and support policies for start-up companies because of successful venture companies related to ICT services. However, as these policies have focused on the support for the initial stage of start-up, many start-up companies have difficulties to continuously grow up. The main reason for these difficulties is that they recognize start-up tasks as independent activities. However, many experts or related articles say that start-up tasks are composed of related processes from the initial stage to the stable stage of start-up firms. In this study, we models the start-up processes based on the survey collected by the start-up companies, and analyze the start-up process of ICT service companies with process mining techniques. Through process mining analysis, we can draw a sequential flow of tasks for start-ups and the characteristics of them. The analysis of start-up businessman, idea derivation, creating business model, business diversification processes are resulted as important processes, but marketing activity and managing investment funds are not. This result means that marketing activity and managing investment funds are activities that need ongoing attention. Moreover, we can find temporal and complementary tasks which could not be captured by independent individual-level activity analysis. Our process analysis results are expected to be used in simulation-based web-intelligent system to support start-up business, and more cumulated start-up business cases will be helpful to give more detailed individual-level personalization service. And our proposed process model and analyzing results can be used to solve many difficulties for start-up companies.

  • Financial IT evaluation methods have been unable to satisfy firms' requirements. There has been a growing demand for more comprehensively and non-financially measuring the IT performance. We developed a process-based approach in evaluating impacts of IT on primary activities. In this research we proposed a model that uses the corporate objective of IT and strategic fitt as the core independent variables in measuring the IT effect. Based on the data collected from the management variables of the 125 companies located in Korea, the companies were classified into the 4 different groups according to their corporate objective for IT: un-oriented, operations oriented, market oriented and dual oriented. Through the empirical analysis, we were able to demonstrate that the management of the companies showing a higher orientation level perceives a better IT investment performance, and this shows that the corporate objective for IT serves as a useful index for measuring the IT investment effect. In this research, it was also demonstrated that the strategic alignment has a positive influence on perceiving the IT investment effect.

  • From the mid 1990's, the scale of IS had been growing, which resulted in increasing number of failure projects. As a result, the measurement of IS performance was a growing concern. Moreover, the need for research on the relation between IT investment and performance that isfd the concern of CEOs has been raised. In this study, the correlation between the IS functionality and investment was discovered based on the IS success model suggested by DeLone & McLean(1992), a business information system evaluation model by Lee Kuk Hie(1992), a balanced score card by Kaplan & Norton(1992). As a result of the LISREL analysis, the investment in the IS has a positive impact on the quality of both information systems and information. In turn, the quality of both information systems and information have a positive impact on the end-user satisfaction, the end-user satisfaction on the financial performance, customer satisfaction, and internal business processes. • The aim of this paper is to develop a performance evaluation model for PPP (Public-Private Partnership) projects that appropriately reflects the important traits that are unique to PPP projects. To this end, 1) it defines a set of distinct perspectives involved in the PPP projects and their associated success factors that might differ amongst the perspectives; 2) it identifies the key performance indicators and suggests the performance evaluation criteria for each indicator; and 3) it builds a performance evaluation model by matching the success factors from each perspective with performance measure criteria as well as applies the model to the two selected BTO road projects in Korea. The process of model construction and its application confirms significant differences between the main stakeholder perspectives typically involved in PPP projects, which highlights the need for an evaluation model tailored for PPP projects by taking into account the distinct perspectives. The results from the PPP evaluation model developed in the study is compared against the results from the existing ex-post evaluation model for construction projects in general. The former shows a closer match with the results from the user satisfaction survey conducted. This new evaluation framework and the performance indicators entailed in it permits a balanced evaluation of PPP projects as it takes into account different perspectives involved in PPP projects as well as an understanding of the factors affecting the success of PPP projects. While the construction of the model is based on transport projects, it is applicable to different types of PPP projects through variation with the weight allocation amongst different success factors and/or additions or other adjustments to the performance evaluation criteria as required.
