Refractive index change of nonlinear polymer thin films induced by corona poling and quantitative evaluation of poling effect (코로나 극성배향이 비선형 고분자박막의 복소굴절율에 미치는 영향 및 배향효과의 정량화)

  • We prepared the side-chain type nonlinear optical NPP(N-(6-nitrophenyl)-(L)-prolinol) polymer films by spin coating method. Ellipsometric spectra were in situ collected by using spectroscopic phase modulated ellipsometer while the NPP polymer films were being corona poled at the temperature above glass transition. We calculated film thickness and the refractive index dispersion by modeling the spectro-ellipsometry data in transparent region. We also calculated the refractive index and the extinction coefficient of the polymer films by numerically inverting the spectro-ellipsometry data in absorbing region, while the previously determined film thickness was used. The independently determined extinction coefficient spectra from the analysis of transmission spectra were compared with those by spectro-ellipsometry and they showed an excellent agreement with each other. From the analysis of the complex refractive index change of the NPP polymer thin films induced by the corona poling, we could determine the vertical complex refractive index and the horizontal complex refractive index separately. Using the volume fraction of the vertical component f⊥, the degree of poling of poled NPP polymer films was quantitatively addressed. It is suggested that the present method can be used to quantitatively address the degree of poling in an absolute manner and to depth profile the poled fraction of thick polymer films. It will be useful to understand the structural change of polymer films and hence the poling mechanism during the poling process.

Optical properties of hydrogenated amorphous chalcogenide thin films (수소화 처리된 비정질 칼코게나이드 박막의 광학적 특성)

  • 비정질 실리콘 (a-Si)의 수소화를 통해 활성화 수소가 비정질 실리콘내의 댕글링본드 (dangling bond) 와 결합 하므로 에너지밴드의 국재준위(localized state)를 감소시켜 불순물 도핑이 가능하게 되므로 a-Si 이 전자소자로서 이용 가능하게 되었다. 이에 착안하여 본 연구에서는 경사($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $80^{\circ}$) 증착을 통해 비정질 칼코게나이드($a-As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$) 박막을 제작하고 그 박막을 수소화처리 (15~20atm at $150\sim190^{\circ}C$)하여 처리 전 후의 surface morphology 변화 및 광학적 특성 변화를 고찰하였다. $a-As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ 박막의 SEM 측정을 통해 $40^{\circ}$$80^{\circ}$ 경사 증착된 $a-As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ 박막에서 각각 18.8nm 와 160nm의 transition layer와 박막의 기둥(columnar)구조가 형성됨을 관찰하였다. 특히, $80^{\circ}$ 증착박막의 경우 수소처리전 columnar구조는 약 $65\sim70^{\circ}$의 기둥 각을 가지고 형성되었고 수소화 처리를 통해 기둥구조가 붕괴 되었다. $70^{\circ}$ 경사 증착된 $a-As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ 박막은 $0^{\circ}$에 따른 박막 보다 흡수단 부근에서 약 20%의 투과도 증가와 광 에너지 갭 ($E_{op}$)의 증가를 관찰 할 수 있었다. $80^{\circ}$경사 증착된 수소처리 박막에서 흡수단 부근의 투과도가 약 10%증가 되었고, 광 에너지 갭은 약 0.07eV 증가 하였고, PL intensity는 흡수단 부근에서 증가한 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이러한 변화들은 경사 증착된 $a-As_{40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}$ 박막 내의 상대적으로 원자 밀도가 큰 기둥(columnar)구조가 생성되고, 이 원자 밀도가 높은 기둥구조의 댕글링본드와 주입된 수소가 흡착하여 에너지대의 국재준위를 감소시키기 때문으로 판단된다.

A Study of Moth-eye Nano Structure Embedded Optical Film with Mitigated Output Power Loss in PERC Photovoltaic Modules (PERC 태양전지 모듈의 출력저하 방지를 위한 모스아이(Moth-eye) 광학필름 연구)

  • The PERC photovoltaic (PV) modules installed in PV power plant are still reports potential-induced degradation (PID) degradation due to high voltage potential differences. This is because Na+ ions in the cover glass of PV modules go through the encapsulant (EVA) and transferred to the surface of solar cells. As positive charges are accumulated at the ARC (SiOx/SiNx) interface where many defects are distributed, shunt-resistance (Rsh) is reduced. As a result, the leakage current is increased, and decrease in solar cell's power output. In this study, to prevent of this phenomenon, a Moth-eye nanostructure was deposited on the rear surface of an optical film using Nano-Imprint Lithography method, and a solar mini-module was constructed by inserting it between the cover glass and the EVA. To analyze the PID phenomenon, a cell-level PID acceleration test based on IEC 62804-1 standard was conducted. Also analyzed power output (Pmax), efficiency, and shunt resistance through Light I-V and Dark I-V. As a result, conventional solar cells were decreased by 6.3% from the initial efficiency of 19.76%, but the improved solar cells with the Moth-eye nanostructured optical film only decreased 0.6%, thereby preventing the PID phenomenon. As of Moth-eye nanostructured optical film, the transmittance was improved by 4%, and the solar module output was improved by 2.5%.

Uncertainty Analysis of the Optical Smoke Density Measurement through the Doorway in a Compartment Fire (구획화재의 출입구를 통한 광학적 연기밀도 측정의 불확실성 해석)

  • The present study measured the light transmission to quantify the smoke density(smoke mass concentration) through the doorway in a compartment fire and performed the uncertainty analysis to evaluate the reliability of the measurement technique. The optical light extinction method based on Bourguer's law was applied to estimate the smoke density of doorway exhausting smoke flow in upper layer of a compartment for methane gas fires. The measurement uncertainty of the light extinction measurement was evaluated for the light transmittance, path length, and specific mass extinction coefficient and the expanded uncertainty was estimated about 20% with confidence level of 95%. The mean smoke density through the doorway for the methane fire was calculated for quasi-steady fire and the smoke density linearly increased as the GER increased.

  • CdS 박막은 에너지 밴드갭이 상온에서 2.42 eV인 직접 천이헝 반도체로써 태양전지 및 광전도 셀과 광센서 등에 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유연성을 가지고 있는 PC, PET, PEN등 폴리머 기판을 $O_2$ 플라즈마를 사용하고 RF Power 100W, 공정시간 60~1200s의 조건에서 전처리하고, 이 기판을 CBD법을 이용하여 CdS 박막을 증착시켰다. 폴리머 기판의 결정립크기는 180s의 처리시간 부터 증가를 보였으며, 전기적 특성은 60s 와 180s에서 이동도와 비저항이 반비례하는 경향성을 나타내었고 광투과율은 처리시간에 따른 뚜렷한 변화를 보이지 않았다.

  • In this paper, an analysis method for indoor optical wireless channel properties based on photon model is presented for characterization of communication environment. In contrast to radio waves, optical waves have very short wave-lengths and very high frequencies, so that material properties become important. Channel models including diffuse reflections and absorption effects due to material surface textures make conventional electromagnetic wave analysis methods based on ray tracing consume enormous time. To overcome these problems, an analysis method using photon model is presented that approximates light intensity by a density of photons. The photon model ensures that simulation time is within a predictable limit.

  • CuPt-type ordering has been observed in Zn-rich $Cd_xZn_{1-x}$Te epilayers grown on (001)GaAs and ZnTe/GaAs(001) substrates. X-ray diffraction, electron beam diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and low-temperature photoluminescence have been used to characterize the CuPt-type ordering in Zn-rich $Cd_xZn_{1-x}$Te epilayers.

  • 비정질 Si박막 태양전지의 후면 반사층을 위한 ZnO:Al TCO박막을 RF Magnetron Sputtering 방법으로 증착하였으며 이의 전기적, 광학적 특성 및 구조를 최적화하였다. Sputtering의 공정변수인 증착 RF 파워, 기판온도, 타겟-기판 거리, 증착압력을 변화시켜 ZnO:Al 단일막의 전기적, 광학적 특성을 최적화 하였고,이를 소면적 태양전지 셀 및 모듈에 적용하였다.그 중 증착 RF파워 및 압력이 단일막의 전기적,광학적 특성에 타겟-기판거리는 박막의 균일도에 큰 영향을 주었다. 압력에 따른 박막의 치밀도를 SE EMA방법으로 정량화하였고, 광학적, 전기적 특성과 연관하여 해석하였다. ZnO:Al 박막의 물성을 최적화하여 태양전지 셀에 적용한 결과 두께 80nm에서 가장 큰 Jsc의 증가를 보였고, 적용 전에 비해 약 18%의 광변환효율의 증가를 얻었다. 최적화된 태양전지 셀의 광변환효율은 9.9%, 모듈 효율은 7.4%였다.

A basic study for color identification of amethyst by spectrophotometer (분광광도계를 이용한 자수정의 색상 감별 기초 연구)

  • This study was carried out for the purpose of obtaining the basic data for color identification of amethyst by spectrophotometer. For this, the eleven amethyst stone and one citrine stone from eight countries were prepared in facet cut or plate. The transmittance and reflection of this samples were investigated as a function of wavelength. The transmittance or reflection was transformed to tristimulus value (X, Y, Z) and chromaticity value (x, y, z) and then compared with the results of eye observation which was plotted on cm xyY color space. Finally, the influence of the amethyst's thickness on transmittance or reflection was investigated.

Efficient Diode Pumped High Power Nd:YAG Laser with a Gold Coated Flow Tube (금코팅 유리관 반사체를 이용한 다이오드 여기 고출력 고효율 Nd:YAG 레이저)

  • We fabricated a diode-side pumped high power Nd:YAG laser with a gold coated flow tube(diameter of 10mm) and three sets of 140W diode bar. The diameter of Nd:YAG rod was 6mm and its length was 130mm. We obtained 130W cw power from a linear resonator with an 11% output coupler, which corresponds to the slope efficiency of 43% and the optical efficiency of 31%. The measured beam quality factor(M$^2$) reached about 85 which is fairly large due to the large size of the rod. Thermal lensing of the rod was measured to be 5.3-7.4D/$kW_{pump}$ when the laser was operating.
