Development of AMI NMS (Network Management System) using SNMP for Network Monitoring of Meter Reading Devices (원격검침 설비의 네트워크 상태감시를 위한 SNMP 기반의 저압 AMI 망관리시스템 개발)

  • KEPCO installed AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) metering system for low-voltage customers from 2008. AMI metering system of KEPCO has operated 2.55 million customers and will plan to operate 22 million customers until 2020. KEPCO developed AMI NMS (Network Management System) to operate the meter reading network efficiently. NMS monitors the network status of DCUs (Data Concentration Unit) and modems. NMS provides functionalities of data collection and analysis. It collects property data of network device, network topology information, communication performance information, fault information, and etc. It analyzes collected data and controls network devices by remote access. AMI NMS collects about 370 MIBs (Mangement Information Bases) using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). This paper introduces main functionalities, designed context, and implemented service screen.

CNN-based Sign Language Translation Program for the Deaf (CNN기반의 청각장애인을 위한 수화번역 프로그램)

  • Society is developing more and more, and communication methods are developing in many ways. However, developed communication is a way for the non-disabled and has no effect on the deaf. Therefore, in this paper, a CNN-based sign language translation program is designed and implemented to help deaf people communicate. Sign language translation programs translate sign language images entered through WebCam according to meaning based on data. The sign language translation program uses 24,000 pieces of Korean vowel data produced directly and conducts U-Net segmentation to train effective classification models. In the implemented sign language translation program, 'ㅋ' showed the best performance among all sign language data with 97% accuracy and 99% F1-Score, while 'ㅣ' showed the highest performance among vowel data with 94% accuracy and 95.5% F1-Score.

  • One of the dark sides of the development of information and communication technology is the significant increase in cybercrime. In particular, investigators in charge of cyber sexual crime are repeatedly exposed to video data of illegal sexual violence; hence, they are at high risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and experiencing vicarious trauma. Notwithstanding, few studies have focused on these investigators' PTSD, and, to the best of our knowledge, no study has been conducted on the vicarious trauma of cyber sexual crime investigators. Therefore, this study identifies investigators' mental health status (trauma-related, especially) and examines their perception of the currently operating psychological support programs. Further, by reviewing the psychological support system of overseas institutions, we would suggest psychological support and policies necessary for domestic cyber sexual crime units to manage investigators' work stress and prevent mental illness under domestic circumstances.

  • Recently, many companies are using public cloud services or building their own data center because digital transformation is expanding. The software-defined storage is a key solution for storing data on the cloud platform and its use is expanding worldwide. Software-defined storage has the advantage of being able to virtualize and use all storage resources as a single storage device and supporting flexible scale-out. On the other hand, since the size of an object is variable, an imbalance occurs in the use of the disk and may cause a failure. In this study, a method of redistributing objects by optimizing disk weights based on storage state information was proposed to solve the imbalance problem of disk use, and the experimental results were presented. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the maximum utilization rate of the disk decreased by 10% from 89% to 79%. Failures can be prevented, and more data can be stored by optimizing the use of disk.

  • This paper proposes the design of a personalized learning support system for students with learning disabilities, utilizing biometric signals. The system leverages EEG (electroencephalography) and eye-tracking data to monitor the learner's state in real-time, identifying signs of decreased concentration, boredom, or diminished interest. By providing customized feedback and an adaptive learning environment, the system aims to enhance the learning experience and effectiveness. Key components of the system include data collection using Emotiv Epoc X and eye-tracking devices, data preprocessing, and the application of AI models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. Additionally, Random Forest and Gradient Boosting techniques are employed to predict learner characteristics and optimize feedback, while Decision Trees are used to analyze learning outcomes and deliver individualized recommendations. The proposed system aims to provide an optimal learning environment for students with learning disabilities, with the ultimate goal of improving educational performance and motivation.

  • The decentralized and open characteristic of the internet, along with the mobility and portability of mobile communication, and the interactivity of the internet and mobile communications all have been grafted to enable the creation of wireless internet in our lives, bringing about a lot of change. However, existing system management software solutions show limitations in time and space, as well as problems such as uncertain error messages, and also difficulty providing swift assistance or real time emergency support. Therefore, a wireless remote control system has been designed and implemented in this thesis, which is capable of managing and monitoring remote systems using mobile communication devices (Mobile Phone, PDA, Smart Phone, Webpad) for realtime control. The implemented real time wireless remote control system provides remote server management functions, error or event message functions, log record functions, authentication function via mobile devices and system performance evaluation function classified by client transaction.

  • In this paper, a mushroom typed electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure to be inserted in the printed circuit board (PCB) inner layer in order to stabilize the PCB power line is proposed for global-navigation satellite service (GNSS). In designing the proposed EBG structure, the target stop-bandwidth was designed from 1.55GHz to 1.81GHz including GNSS and mobile communication-related frequency bandwidth. In this bandwidth, the insertion loss(S21) was observed below about -40dB. From the simulation results, it is expected that the stabilization of power delivery network (PDN) structure in the PCB circuit design should be improved and the effective correspondence to EMI will be helpful.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of a relay station antenna with the newly designed back-plate structure which is composed of the U-shaped metal plate for suppression of the back lobe by edge diffraction. The back lobe level of the conventional type was about -20 dB in the -z direction ( 180 ) . In order to improve the characteristics, the U-shaped mesh type metal plate is considered, where the design condition of the model antenna satisfies the wide null point angle range with the back lobe level of -30 dB below in the -z direction. The design parameters with the minimum back lobe level such as the dipole length, the distance between dipole elements and the back plate size have been found by using the released NEC Win Pro code. The calculated and measured back lobe Bevel of model antenna have been obtained 48.48 dB and -45 dB at 325 MHz, respectively.

  • With the development of information technology, Small office Home office(SOHO) is picking up. SOHO generally uses Wi-Fi. The wireless LAN environment using 802.11 protocol is easily affected by DoS attacks. To deal with these threats, there is Wireless Intrusion Detection System(WIDS). However, legacy products of WIDS cannot be easily used by SOHO because they are expensive and require management burden. In this paper, Smart WIDS for SOHO is proposed and implemented on Raspberry Pi2. And, it provides the interface for attack detection notice to android smart phone. Smart WIDS detects Masquerading DoS and Resource Depletion DoS based on IEEE 802.11 so that we notice the attempt of cracking Pre-shared Key(PSK), Man-In-The-Middle(MITM), and service failure.

  • A WAVE(Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) system is a vehicle communication technology. The system provides the services to prevent vehicle accidents that might occur during driving. Also, it is used to provide various services such as monitoring vehicle management and system failure. However, the scrambler bit operation of WAVE system becomes less efficient in the organizations of software and hardware design because the parallel processing is impossible. Although scrambler algorithm proposed in this paper has different processing speed depending on input data 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, and 64 bit. it improves the processing speed of the operation because it can make parallel processing possible depending on the input unit.
