The torque of the SRM((Switched Reluctance Motor)) is proportional to the inductance slope, so it has a non-linear torque characteristic, and has a disadvantage in that the torque pulsation is large and noise is severe. In particular, the biggest obstacle to the commercialization of SRM is the pulsating torque generated from the rotating shaft, which has various adverse effects not only on the device itself but also on the peripheral devices. Therefore, various methods for reducing the pulsating torque have been published by domestic and foreign researchers, and there is a study result that the hysteresis controller has an advantage in that it can flow a smooth current compared to the chopping control. However, in determining the hysteresis band, if the band is too small, it has a disadvantage in that it may cause a switching loss due to many switching and an unstable initial start when the encoder is used. Therefore, in this paper, a variable hysteresis controller that can reduce torque ripple in a steady state while having a more stable and fast speed response through the change of the hysteresis band according to the speed error.

An attitude control system using reaction thrusters for the upper stage of a launch vehicle is considered. The thruster configuration (position and direction) determines control system response, fuel consumption, effective torque and system fault tolerance. We propose a procedure for finding the optimal thruster configuration with desired control effectiveness over the range of selected torque commands. An optimization technique called Particle Swarm Optimization is used for the numerical experiments. The validity of the solution is checked through computer simulations.

The speed control without a speed sensor is expected strongly to progress reliability, simplicity and cost performance of Induction Motor(I.M) systems. Also, it contributes to expansion of I.M systems into various industrial application fields. This paper investigates a novel speed sensorless control method of I.M considering the secondary resistance identification based on the transientless torque control technique. Especially, this paper aimed at the identification of the secondary resistance simultaneously with speed estimation superposing of sinusoidal flux wave to a constant flux value. Furthermore, the secondary flux with some frequency is controlled independently on torque control. The proposed speed estimation method is derived from a motor circuit equation theoretically and also it can be conducted easily by detecting primary motor currents and primary voltage commands at every sampling time. Some numerical simulations with the assumption of using a pulse width modulation(PWM) voltage source inverter are performed to verify the proposed method.

This paper describes a new sensorless speed control method for permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) using direct torque control(DTC). The direct torque control offers fast torque response, lesser hardware and processing costs as compared to vector controlled drives. In this paper the current error compensation technique is applied for sensorless speed control of synchronous motor. Through this method, the controlled stator voltage is applied to the synchronous motor so that the error between stator currents of the mathematical model and the actual motor can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds and therefore, the motor speed approaches to the setting value. Especially, any PI controllers are not necessary in this control method. The simulation results indicate good speed and load responses from the low speed range to the high.

Pressure control of hydraulic pump using SRM with pressure predictor and direct torque control method is presented in this paper. Nowadays, high efficiency and high performance motor drive is much interested in hydraulic pump system. But the hydraulic pump system has an inherent defect that its dynamic behavior causes by interaction between the sensor and hydraulic load. It will make low performance of whole system, even unstable and oscillatory. Proposed system integrates pressure predictor and direct instantaneous torque control (DITC). The pressure predictor includes Smith predictor, which is easy to improve unstable or long oscillation in traditional negative feedback control and popular PID control architectures. And DITC method can reduce inherent torque ripple of SRM, and develop smooth torque to load, which can increase stability and improve the torque response of SR drive. So high dynamic performance and stabilization can achieved proposed hydraulic system. At last, the proposed hydraulic system is verified by simulation and experimental results.

In this paper, improvement method of control performance by a full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is proposed in the low speed range. Full-order observer using reduced-order state equation is the motor speed and the disturbance torque observer. The proposed algorithm is very stable in the low speed range about 1.9[rpm]. The disturbance torque in the motor drive system degrades speed control performance in the low speed range. The proposed algorithm estimated both motor speed and disturbance torque. The estimated disturbance torque is used as a feedforward value in output of the speed controller, As a result, it improves the response of load torque in the low speed range(1.9rpm).

The magnitude of output torque in a BLDC Motor depends on torque angle so that the exact initial position of rotor is essentially required for good starting. This paper presents a novel starting control method for smooth starting in a position-sensorless controlled BLDC motor drive for reciprocating compressor of refrigerator. The proposed method starts a BLDC motor using information on the initial position of rotor, determined from current response characteristics, and shows robust starting capability to starting load variations. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through experimental results.
