  • This study investigated what web users share on a health website and how the demographic characteristics of users reflect health information sharing behavior. By using a content analysis method, this study analyzed 1,042 randomly chosen messages in the discussion board of a health website. The results revealed that the health website users emotionally supported other users, provided health information, and built relationships between them. Two third of the health website users shared his/her thoughts or feelings about ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on the health website and one fourth of the health website users connected with others who had ALS. A half of the users actively provided information as a direct response to a question. No significant differences were discerned with regard to total posting frequency by age and gender effect. However, the male users in the 50s answered questions to others more actively and tried to manage their life better than the other age groups.

  • The purpose of this primitive experimental study was to find the effects of peer teaching on self-leadership, psychological capitals(hereafter, psycap) and learning satisfaction of nursing freshmen. The data measured before and after 12 times peer teaching for 30 minutes were analyzed with SPSS 21 for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and paired t-test. There were significant increases in academic satisfaction of low subjective school grades group, and in resilience of below average prefer discussion group before and after treatment. There were significant differences in self-leadership and psycap before and after treatment(p=.002, p=.044), confidence and resilience among sub-domains of psycap increased significantly(p=.006, p=.015). Finally, peer teaching have increased self-leadership and psycap of nursing freshmen. Therefore, further studies are proposed to apply various types of peer teaching in nursing curriculum.

  • This paper suggests efficient learning improvement method of computer use instruction based on flipped learning. Traditional computer use classes were difficult to practice and collaborative with sufficient lectures. However, we used KOCW (Korea Open Courseware) as a footsteps in the class using the flipped learning method and learned in advance before entering the classroom. In the classroom, we conducted collaborative hands on class based on mutual discussion. After the instruction, we measured learning motivation and satisfaction by gender, grade, and major using the motivation test tool. The results showed that degree of attention awareness, perception of class relevance and perception of learning satisfaction were analyzed as 'very satisfied' and 'satisfied' more than 90%.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the effect of using discussions and debates in science laboratory classes on science learning motivation, science process skills, and science academic achievement. Participants in this study were 6th grade students at an elementary school. Students in the experimental group participated in science laboratory classes using discussions and debates while students in the comparative group participated in common laboratory classes with a teacher-directed approach. The results of this study are as follows: by using discussions and debates in science laboratory classes, there were statistically positive effects on the students' science learning motivation and science process skills. However, there was no statistically significant difference in science academic achievement by using discussions and debates. Even so, in the narrative survey of the students'reactions after the class, students in the experimental group responded that it was much easier to understand the meaning of the scientific concepts when they used discussions and debates. Therefore, there is a need to investigate how to use discussions and debates effectively by introducing them at different time or in different ways, rather than considering that discussions and debates have no effect on science achievement. These findings provide science teachers and researchers pedagogical implications about utilizing discussions and debates in science classes.

  • Internet ethics is one of liberal arts courses in a college. We also have taught this subject for a number of years. In order to effectively communicate to students the internet ethics course, we gave some demonstration practice lectures by taking advantage of internet ethics related videos. Since the latest video presentation and its discussion were performed, it was helpful for students to recognize the internet ethical issues and concerns. However, simply video watching is short in the view of students' learning outcome improvement, since each student just watches the content passively in a class. Thus, we assign small student group consisting of 3 people make a video on internet ethics topic. This team project based class methodology is effective to each student who actively participates in the class and understands the concept which they directly make a video. We confirmed that classroom students' understanding for internet ethics has been increased by a survey of the class attendees.

  • This study is to figure out the activity and disposition of gifted students with face plot in exploratory data analysis at middle school mathematics class. This study has begun on the basis of the doing mathematics at multivariate analysis beyond one variable and two variables. Gifted students were developed the good learning habits theirselves. According to this result, Many gifted students have an interesting experience at data analysis with Face Plot. And they felt the useful methods of creative thinking about graphics with doing mathematics at mathematical tasks. I think that teachers need to learn the visualization methods and to make and to develop the STEAM education tasks connected real life. It should be effective enough to change their attitudes toward teaching and learning at exploratory data analysis.

  • Leading educational paradigm based on Constructivism drives for many changes in the field of education. It causes the shift from instructor-based to learner-based learning, and cooperative teaming amongst the learners. Multi User Game (MUG) which is a network-based cooperative game is popular among many college students. MUG is known to provide positive and creative activities encouraging learners to participate, reform and produce new knowledge and skills. Thus, it has potential as an effective learning tool. In this study, however, we have designed a prototype of Cooperative MUG Game for elementary students to learn within networked environment to play while learning new knowledge and skills. The elementary students will interact with the other students through chatting while playing MUG.

  • This study explores the barrier factors of Chinese private-owned enterprises in overseas expansion in terms of corruption, political risk, market fluctuation, cultural difference, and firms resource endowments. To explore the existing practical backgrounds, it was investigated to private-owned enterprises dealing with foreign export companies where run business in Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. The result shows that the corruption and political risks of host countries do not have significant influence on business performance in 'Go global' strategy, while the market fluctuation of host countries has a negative effect on business performance. Cultural difference has a negative effect on business performance, and enterprises' resource endowments have a positive effect on business performance in 'Go global' strategy. Additionally, interviewees provide several substantial suggestions regarding the government policy and industry ecosystem to surmount the barriers of POEs' going global. Lastly, the authors discuss managerial implications and provide several suggestions for the future studies.

  • One class of grade 7 was chosen as a control group, and the other as an experimental group. The control group watched only a film of motion in weightless situation, but the experimental group had a contrastive discussion before watching the film. In pretest, pupils were given contrasted views between the pre-Galilean and post-Galilean about falling and horizontal motion of bodies, and asked to choose one from two points of view and to write the reason why they choose it. After the pretest, control group students watched the same film as the experimental group did. On the falling problem, the control group ignored the contents of the film or regarded related contents as not related contents. However, through the contrastive discussion, experimental group pupils reconstructed their past vague ideas and noticed the cause of falling which was not perceived by the control group. On the horizontal motion, some in the control group agreed with post-Galilean view points after watching the film. Some of the pupils in the experimental group agreed with the post-Galilean viewpoint after performing the contrastive discussion. However, most of them agreed after watching the film. So we can conclude that the contrastive discussion which helped students to reconstruct their ideas made the difference between the two groups.

  • These days effective science education programs are required for girls to encourage them to pursue their career in science and engineering areas. This paper presents the preliminary results of an analysis performed to measure the effectiveness of a middle school education program, in which a science fiction movie as a multimedia educational material is shown to students and afterward discussion and review process for the scientific subjects included in the movie are given to them. The analysis is based on a study of students' responses on surveys performed after showing the science fiction movies during a science camp and a regular school class. The survey results of female students are compared with those of male students. The results indicate that the education program using science fiction movies could be more effective to female students than to male students in motivating and enhancing their interest in scientific subjects. A preliminary guide and afterward review and discussion on the scientific contents dealt in the movie turned out to be helpful to enhance the effectiveness of this science education program.
