Extracting and Visualizing Dispute comments and Relations on Internet Forum Site (인터넷 토론 사이트의 논쟁댓글 및 논쟁관계 시각화)

  • Recently, many users discuss and argue with others using replying comments. This implies that a series of comments can be a new source of information since various opinions can be appeared in the dispute. It is important to understand the implicit dispute structure immanent in the comment set. In this paper, we examine the characteristics of disputes using replying comments in the Internet forum sites using a set of test articles with the comments collected from SketicalLeft and Agora, which are famous Internet forum sites in Korea. And we propose a new method for detecting and visualizing the dispute sections and relations from a large set of replying comments. To show the performance of our method, we measured precision, recall, and F-measure. According to the experimental results, the F-measures of the detection of the comments in dispute are about 0.84 (SketpcialLeft) and 0.83 (Agora); those of the detection of the commenter pairs in dispute are 0.75 (SketpcialLeft) and 0.82 (Agora), respectively. Since our method exploits the temporal order of commenters to detect the disputes, it is not dependent on the host language nor on the typos in comments. Also, our method can help the readers to grasp the structure of controversy hidden in the comment set through the visualized view.

  • 최근 인터넷 게시판에서 사용자들의 토론과 논쟁이 큰 이슈가 되고 있다. 이러한 논쟁은 게시판을 읽는 사용자들에게 불필요 한 부분이거나, 혹은 관심을 보이는 부분이다. 만약 이러한 논쟁이 있는 구역을 게시판전체에서 논쟁지수를 계산하여 사용자에게 정보를 가져다준다면, 사용자가 직접 글을 파악하지 않고도 논쟁구역을 회피하거나 더 관심 있게 읽을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 댓글 수나 조회 수 등의 개별적인 정보를 이용하여 파악하는 것이 아니라 글쓴이의 연속된 정보를 가지고 게시판의 특정 부분의 논쟁구역을 찾는 방법을 논하고자 한다. 그래서 논쟁이 있는 인터넷 웹 게시판 사용자들의 논쟁 밀도와 논쟁지수를 정의 하고, 이를 계산하는 방법에 대한 모델을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 과학과 종교는 대화가 가능한가? 지난 4월 미국에서는 노벨물리학 수상자인 와인버그와 성공회 목사인 폴킹혼이 '과학과 종교간의 건설적인 대화'라는 제목으로 토론을 벌였다. 이들 두사람은 신의 존재와 사람의 선악행위 등을 토론대상으로 올려 놓았지만 신학의 권위는 계시에 있고 과학의 권위는 실험에 있기 때문에 중요한 형이상학적인 문제는 해결되지 않은 채 토론은 끝났다.

The Study on Process of Illustrious Virtue Becoming an Issue in Horak debate (湖洛論爭) - Focused on Oiam(巍巖) Yi Gan(李柬)'s distiction between Mind(心) and temperament(氣質) (호락논쟁에서 명덕(明德)의 쟁점화 과정 연구 - 외암(巍巖) 이간(李柬)의 심(心)과 기질(氣質)의 분변(分辨)을 중심으로 -)

  • In late Chosen(朝鮮), the concept of illustrious virtue(明德) became an important issue of debate. However, previous studies did not focus on how the concept emerged as an issue. This paper aimed to explore the problem, and for this purpose, paid attention to Horak(湖洛) debate. Oiam(巍巖) Yi Gan(李柬), in the course of discussion with Namdang(南塘), finally argued that mind(心) clearly distinguishes from temperament(氣質). The goals of the claim were to clearly divide mind and temperament, and to emphasize mind's control of temperament. Through this, he wanted to reject the possibility of being affected by temperament in aroused state(未發). And he presented the concept of illustrious virtue as a critical evidence supporting his argument. He argued that because mind is same with illustrious virtue, it has a special status that essentially distinguished from the temperament, even if both mind and temperament are all material force(氣). This argument led to new discussion trend in the debate. it was to form a definition of the mind, based on defining the relationship between spiritual perception(虛靈知覺), temperament and illustrious virtue. The trend was reflected in the debate on 'Whether illustrious virtue is the same for everyone or varies from person to person(明德分殊)'. Through the process of analysis in this paper, we could detect a tendency that definition of mind has become an independent subject.

  • This study on strategy and its function in debate offer the materials of education concrete and practical to be able to improve the expression ability and comprehension ability of the students, and can give lots of help to improve the ability of application that can answer quickly in trouble circumstances. The type of strategy in the course of set up the theory are (1) the form of concept definition, (2) the form of solution offer, (3) inductive form and deductive form, (4) the form of example offer. The type of strategy in the course of contradict are (1) the form of soliloquy, (2) the form of claim comparison, (3) the form of partial recognition. The type of strategy in the course of cross examination are (1) the form of question in return and contradict, (2) the form of partial consent contradict. We believe this study will improve the communication ability and negotiation ability and also make a great contribution to improve the leadership of 21-century type if this study will be used in the field of education.

Characteristics of Online Discussion System for Physics Investigation Through the Students' Perceptions (학생들의 인식조사를 통한 온라인 물리탐구토론의 특징)

  • In this study, we explored the students' perceptions on the online discussion system for physics investigation as the physics education program. With these, we explored the characteristics of online discussion system. For these, the questions and interviews were executed in order to get informations about user-friendly characteristics of on-line discussion learning system of physics investigation, asynchronicity of on-line investigation discussion, on-line investigation discussion related to writing, visual cues and physical presence of on-line investigation discussion and preference of on-line investigation discussion. The students represented that there were two advantages in the online investigation discussion. One is that they could participate in the on-line investigation discussion without the restriction of time and space, and the other is that they could enter into a dispute with sufficient consideration because of the asynchronicity characteristic of online investigation discussion. Although the online educational activity is mainly achieved by independent work on the part of students, the role of teacher and parents is more important than the technical part of online educational system for the active participation.

10 Debating Points in Performance Management On the Job Training (공공부문 성과관리 현장실무교육을 위한 10가지 쟁점: 실무 성과관리 교육내용 구성을 위한 제언)

  • This study argues that traditional 'On the Job Training(OJT)' for performance management in the public sector has paid little attention to the innate nature of public performance management, while mainly focusing on introducing new techniques and differentiating new ones from existing ones. This neglection leads us to commit repetitive errors in practice and misunderstandings about the nature of public performance regardless of the introduction of new techniques. This study emphasizes that on the job training for performance management in the public sector should be able to foster critical thinking and debates over important issues to overcome the problems mentioned above. From such a point of view, 10 important debating points for training and education are suggested to balance both theoretical and practical perspectives in public performance management. Finally, this study maintains that the necessary first step for successful performance management is public employees' correct understanding on the nature of public performance management rather than on a new technique itself.

Educational Implications about Online Debates on a Socio-Scientific Issue from a Postmodernist Perspective: Focus on the Mad Cow Disease (포스트모더니즘의 관점에서 본 과학 관련 사회적 쟁점에 대한 온라인 토론의 과학교육적 함의: 광우병 사례를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to characterize debate on a socio-scientific issue in the Internet and to provide implications from a postmodernist perspective. This study concentrates on disentanglement of the complex relationship among society, economy, politics and science in an issue and characterization of the given text centering on its originality, the relationship between writer and reader, and the purpose of utterance. Sixty-six most read articles on a web message board were chosen and analyzed as a typical case of a socio-scientific issue in the internet. In them, five scientific disputes were identified: the cause of mad cow disease (MCD), specified risk material and the incubation period, the cause of new variant Creutzfeld-Jakob disease (vCJD), vulnerability of vCJD and the relation of Alzheimer and vCJD in American patients. Each argument is intertwined with social, economic and political problems such as its impact on the domestic beef market, feeding environment of imported cattle and the retaliation against denial of importation. With regard to originality, it is found that the originality of an author is weakened but communal through repetitive quotation of 'Peom', cutting and pasting, and engagement of readers with their comments. Furthermore, in order to close the gap between writer and reader, identity and personal narrative of the writers are often introduced into their writing. In terms of purpose of utterance, these are intended to deliver one's feelings or facilitate human behavior rather than inform through verification of a principle.
