Development of a High Performance Ocean Model using Julia Language (줄리아 언어를 이용한 고성능 해양모델의 개발)

  • In order to develop a high performance ocean model, we used Julia, a Just-In-Time compile language, and to obtain the solution of the momentum equation, we made the code to solve the Poisson equation by the Successive Over-Relaxation method. And then we made two models to test Julia calculation codes. First, a simple channel form is modeled to test constant source/sink conditions. Second, the simplified Yellow Sea was modeled to test tidal forcing, Coriolis forces, and the effect of vertical eddy diffusivity coefficients. The model has been tested with a total of eight cases in the two scenarios. As a result of the test, the depth-averaged current speed of the three cases in Scenario 1 converged perfectly to the theoretical value, and that showed well a vertical flow velocity gradient due to the bottom friction. Also, the result of Scenario 2 represented well the amphidromic points of Yellow Sea and the tidal characteristics of mid-western and southwestern coast of Korea. Therefore, it is considered that the ocean model using Julia language has developed successfully, this suggests that the ocean model has come to the stage of successful transition from a classical compile language to a Just-In-Time compile language.

A Study on Spatial Data Integration using Graph Database: Focusing on Real Estate (그래프 데이터베이스를 활용한 공간 데이터 통합 방안 연구: 부동산 분야를 중심으로)

  • Graph databases, which store different types of data and their relationships modeled as a graph, can be effective in managing and analyzing real estate spatial data linked by complex relationships. However, they are not widely used due to the limited spatial functionalities of graph databases. In this study, we propose a uniform grid-based real estate spatial data management approach using a graph database to respond to various real estate-related spatial questions. By analyzing the real estate community to identify relevant data and utilizing national point numbers as unit grids, we construct a graph schema that linking diverse real estate data, and create a test database. After building a test database, we tested basic topological relationships and spatial functions using the Jackpine benchmark, and further conducted query tests based on various scenarios to verify the appropriateness of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method successfully executed 25 out of 29 spatial topological relationships and spatial functions, and achieved about 97% accuracy for the 25 functions and 15 scenarios. The significance of this study lies in proposing an efficient data integration method that can respond to real estate-related spatial questions, considering the limited spatial operation capabilities of graph databases. However, there are limitations such as the creation of incorrect spatial topological relationships due to the use of grid-based indexes and inefficiency of queries due to list comparisons, which need to be improved in follow-up studies.

  • This paper presents the architecture and its function of Tool server. MPEG-21 will enable all-electronic creation, delivery and trade of digital multimedia content and transparent usage of various content types on network device. Therefore, we can provide access to information and services from almost anywhere at anytime with various terminals and networks. In order to support multimedia delivery chain that contains content creation, production, delivery and consumption, we need some elements to identify, describe, manage and protect the contents. Thus, we define Digital Item Processing(DIP), Digital Item Adaptation(DIA) server and Tool server as primary objects of MPEG-21 multimedia framework. DIP provides a function which creates and consumes Digital Item(DI) as a kind of a digital object by user. DIA server adapts the original DI to the usage environment description sent from the terminal and transmits the adapted DI to the terminal. Tool sewer searches for a tool requested from DIP or DIA and downloads the best tool to DIP or DIA server. In this paper, we present how Tool server is organized and is used among 2 primary objects. The paper is structured as following: Section 1 briefly describes why MPEG-21 is needed and what MPEG-21 wants. We see the basic architecture of tool server and its functionality by each module in section 2. Section 3 explains a scenario that tool server transmits tool to DIP or DIA. The paper concludes in section 4.

  • 본 논문은 " 개방형 클라우드 기반 스마트 방송 플랫폼" 표준에 따라서 개발될 수 있는 다양한 클라우드 기반 스마트 방송 애플리케이션의 형식과 관계를 규정하기 위한 애플리케이션 모델을 소개한다. 스마트 방송용 애플리케이션이 다양한 클라우드 방송 플랫폼에서 일관된 사용자 경험을 제공하며 동작하기 위해 클라우드 방송환경의 특성을 고려해야 하며, 이에 따라 애플리케이션의 형식을 분류하고 실행 및 종료 방법과 생명 주기를 정의하며 애플리케이션 사이에서 동작 관계를 규정하는 등의 모델 정립이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 클라우드 방송 애플리케이션을 방송 수신 기능의 활성화 여부에 따라 방송 독립형 및 연동형으로 분류하고, 각 애플리케이션의 생성과 종료를 위한 생명주기와 각 애플리케이션 사이에서 우선 순위를 기반으로 한 상호 작용정책을 규정한다. 또한, 클라우드 애플리케이션의 형식 및 우선순위 등을 애플리케이션에 지정할 수 있는 관리정책을 정의한다. 이러한 모델 정의를 바탕으로 표준을 적용한 클라우드 방송 테스트 플랫폼을 구현하고 다양한 형태의 클라우드 방송 애플리케이션을 개발하여 모델 정의에 따르는 기본 동작 시나리오 및 유효성을 검증한 사례를 소개한다.

A Study on Design Automation of Cooling Channels in Hot Form Press Die Based on CATIA CAD System (CATIA CAD 시스템 기반 핫폼금형의 냉각수로 설계 자동화에 관한 연구)

  • This paper focuses on the development of a support system that can rapidly generate the design data of a hot-form die with cooling channels, commonly known as hot stamping technology. We propose a new process for designing hot-form dies based on our (automated) system, whose main features are derived from the analysis of the design requirements and design process in the current industry. Our design support system consists of two modules, which allow for the generation of a 3D geometry model and its 2D drawings. The module for 3D modeling automation is implemented as a type of CATIA template model based on CATIA V5 Knowledgeware. This module automatically creates a 3D model of a hot-form die, including the cooling channels, that depends on the shape of the forming surface and the number of STEELs (subsets of die product) and cooling channels. It also allows for both the editing of the positions and orientations of the cooling channels and testing for the purpose of satisfying the constraints on the distance between the forming surface and cooling channels. Another module for the auto-generation of the 2D drawings is being developed as a plug-in using CAA (CATIA SDK) and Visual C++. Our system was evaluated using the S/W test based on a user defined scenario. As a result, it was shown that it can generate a 3D model of a hot form die and its 2D drawings with hole tables about 29 times faster than the conventional manual method without any design errors.

  • The importance of NPC's role in computer games is increasing. An NPC must perform its tasks by perceiving obstacles and other characters and by moving through them. It has been proposed to plan a natural-looking path against fixed obstacles by using a generalized visibility graph. In this paper we develop the execution module for an NPC to move efficiently along the path planned on the generalized visibility graph. The planned path consists of line segments and arc segments, so we define steering behaviors such as linear behaviors, circular behaviors, and an arriving behavior for NPC's movements to be realistic and utilize them during execution. The execution module also includes the collision detection capability to be able to detect dynamic obstacles and uses a decision tree to react differently according to the detected obstacles. The execution module is tested through the simulation based on the example scenario in which an NPC interferes the other moving NPC.

Development of Fast-Time Simulator for Aircraft Surface Operation (항공기 지상 이동 Fast-Time 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Thisstudy presentsthe development of a fast-time airport surface simulator. The simulator usesthe output from a first-come first-served (FCFS) scheduler and has adopted one-dimensional dynamic model to simulate the movement of the aircraft on the surface. Higher collision risks situations in the airport surface traffic are analyzed to classify those situations into six cases. A conflict detection and resolution algorithm is implemented to maintain separation distance and to prevent deadlock. The simulator was tested with a scenario at the Incheon International Airport that contains 72 aircraft. Without the conflict detection and resolution, various conflict situations are identified. When the conflict detection and resolution algorithm is managing the traffic, it is confirmed that the conflicts are removed at the price of additional delays. In the conflict resolution algorithm, three prioritization strategies are implemented, and delayed aircraft count and average additional delays are compared. Prioritization based on remaining time or distance showed smaller total additional delay compared to choosing minimum delay priority for each situation.

  • Utilization of a driving simulator in the development of autonomous driving technology allows us to perform various tests effectively in criticial environments, thereby reducing the development cost and efforts. However, there exists a serious drawback that the driving simulator has a big difference from the real environment, so a problem occurs when the autonomous driving algorithm developed using the driving simulator is applied directly to the real vehicle system. This is defined as so-called Sim2Real problem and can be classified into scenarios, sensor modeling, and vehicle dynamics. This Paper presensts on a method to solve the Sim2Real problem in autonomous driving simulator focusing on IMU sensor. In order to reduce the difference between emulated virtual IMU sensor real IMU sensor, IMU sensor emulation techniques through precision error modeling of IMU sensor are introduced. The error model of IMU sensors takes into account bias, scale factor, misalignmnet, and random walk by IMU sensor grades.

  • As one of the most spotlighted research areas, these days, the Internet of Things (IoT) aims to provide users with various services through many devices. Since there exist so many devices in IoT environments, it is inefficient to manually configure the domain name system (DNS) names of such devices. Thus, for IPv6-based IoT environments, this paper proposes a scheme called the DNS Name Autoconfiguration (DNSNA) that autoconfigures an IoT device's DNS name and manages it. In the procedure for generating and registering an IoT device's DNS name, the standard protocols of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) are used. Since the proposed scheme resolves an IoT device's DNS name into an IPv6 address in unicast through a DNS server, it generates less traffic than multicast-based mDNS (Multicast DNS) which is a legacy DNS application for the DNS name service in the smart home. Thus, the proposed scheme is more appropriate in multi-hop IoT networks than mDNS. This paper explains the design of the proposed scheme and its service scenarios, such as smart home and smart road. It also explains the implementation and testing of the proposed scheme in the smart grid.

  • In recent, there has been a trend toward primarily utilizing data-driven models employing artificial intelligence technologies, such as machine learning, for flood prediction. These data-driven models offer the advantage of utilizing pre-training results, significantly reducing the required simulation time. However, it remains that a considerable amount of flood data is necessary for the pre-training in data-driven models, while the available observed data for application is often insufficient. As an alternative, validated simulation results from physically-based models are being employed as pre-training data alongside observed data. In this context, we developed a flood mapping accelerator to generate flood maps for pre-training. The proposed accelerator automates the entire process of flood mapping, i.e., estimating flood discharge using HEC-1, calculating water surface levels using HEC-RAS, simulating channel overflow and generating flood maps using RAS Mapper. With the accelerator, users can easily prepare a database for pre-training of data-driven models from hundreds to tens of thousands of rainfall scenarios. It includes various convenient menus containing a Graphic User Interface(GUI), and its practical applicability has been validated across 26 test-beds.
