  • Sixth-generation (6G) networks may allow to evolve from everything connected to everything sensed. Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) requires the higher frequencies, wider bands, and more advanced antenna technology offered by 6G technology. We analyze advanced beamforming techniques to overcome the poor propagation characteristics of millimeter and terahertz waves as well as new waveforms designed to include sensing. This paper is intended to provide communication researchers with short summaries of ISAC, use cases, and standardization initiatives as guidelines for exploring new research and development directions.

Analysis of Burned Areas in North Korea Using Satellite-based Wildfire Damage Indices (위성기반 산불피해지수를 이용한 북한지역 산불피해지 분석)

  • Recent climate change can increase the frequency and damage of wildfires worldwide. It can also lead to the deterioration of the forest ecosystem and increase casualties and economic loss. Satellite-based indices for forest damage can facilitate an objective and rapid examination of burned areas and help analyze inaccessible places like North Korea. In this letter, we conducted a detection of burned areas in North Korea using the traditional Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR), the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to represent vegetation vitality, and the Fire Burn Index (FBI) and Forest Withering Index (FWI) that were recently developed. Also, we suggested a strategy for the satellite-based detection of burned areas in the Korean Peninsula as a result of comparing the four indices. Future work requires the examination of small-size wildfires and the applicability of deep learning technologies.

  • Six sigma has been evolved into three generations. The first generation focused on eliminating or reducing defects as Motorola originally developed and applied. The second generation focused on reducing costs and improving process efficiency as GE extended the first generation. The next generation of six sigma such as D2MAIC(Discovery, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and ICRA(Innovate, Configure, Realize, Attenuate) has been discussed since the beginning of the 21st century. Although the third generation of six sigma emphasizes value creation, but there are few specific tools for its implementation. In this thesis, some tools for finding opportunities for value creation are suggested. It is explained and discussed with examples how the tools can be applied.

  • To maximize the operational efficiency of production and operations systems, Six Sigma and Lean Production System have been widely used. The main focus of Six Sigma is reducing variations, whereas that of Lean Production System is eliminating losses. To take advantage of the two approaches Six Sigma and Lean Production System was integrated into Lean Six Sigma, and the integrated approach has been used in recent years. In the implementation of Lean Six Sigma, the problems under consideration have often physical or technical contradictions which are difficult to be solved by conventional methods. To solve such contradictions TRIZ is useful in many cases. In this thesis, it is considered that how TRIZ can be applied to Lean Six Sigma. An integrated road-map of Lean Six Sigma and TRIZ is suggested and some cases are reviewed.

Replantation for Amputation of the Finger by a Dog Bite (견교상에 의한 수지 절단의 재접합술)

  • We present the case of a 49-year-old man with a dog bite on his right index finger at the mid-phalanx level. The finger was severely contaminated by the dog bite but, the amputation margin was clean. We replantated the stump. His finger was recovered very successfully 12 months later. It is recommended that in these types of cases, replantation of the severed finger should proceed even if the amputated finger was contaminated by the dog bite, unless there are other factors that prevent replantation.

  • 무선 센서네트워크 환경에서 대칭형 암호화 알고리즘을 적용하는 경우에 제한된 자원과 키 길이로 인하여 다양한 보안 공격에 취약하다. 이러한 문제해결을 위해 온라인상에서 중앙 키 관리 센터를 통해 정기적으로 사용 중인 키를 갱신하는 메커니즘이 필요하다. 여기서 제안된 프로토콜은 정기적인 키 갱신 및 키 정보 인증을 실시하며, 송신자는 키 정보를 암호화하지 않고 공개된 하나의 랜덤 비트 패턴으로 방송한다. 또한 간단하고 빠른 비트위주 XOR 연산을 사용한다. 제안된 키 관리 프로토콜이 네트워크의 성능 측면에서 다른 프로토콜보다 우수함을 보이기 위해 기존의 대칭키 암호화 프로토콜, 마스터 키 기반 SPINS 프로토콜과 비교분석한다.

Trend Analysis of Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture Study based on the Korean Traditional Medicine (국내논문검색서비스를 이용한 안면부 한방 미용 성형 관련 침 치료의 연구 동향 분석: 임상연구와 문헌연구를 중심으로)

  • Objectives : In order to help establish the scientific research methods to prove the effects of facial cosmetic acupuncture, we investigated the trend of facial cosmetic acupuncture study based on the Korean traditional medicine. Methods : We researched the papers which were associated with the facial cosmetic acupuncture in Korean journals. The research date was 5th August 2013. Results : 27 papers about facial cosmetic acupuncture were found. 17 papers were literature research, and 10 papers were clinical research. Almost half of papers were written the years of 2008 and 2009. Most of papers were written in the Journal of Korean Acupuncture & Moxibustion Society. Conclusions : We need more systematic research in order to prove the effects of facial cosmetic acupuncture and use extensively.

Effects of Fatigue Reduction Program on Female Employees in One Food Production Company (식료품 제조업 여성 근로자를 위한 피로감소 프로그램의 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test effects of fatigue reduction program for women workers at a food production company. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was conducted. Eighteen workers in vitamin E group, 16 workers in vitamin E and stretching group, and 18 workers in stretching only group participated. Participants were evaluated at baseline and 8 weeks. Results: The results showed that stretching only group had a significant impact on reducing of fatigue level compared to those of a vitamin E group. Conclusion: Although vitamin E supplement has not shown decreasing fatigue level, the positive effect of stretching exercise may have high applicability to a workplace.

Effect of Sanyeoleumja on Inflammatory Response of RAW 264.7 Cells (RAW 264.7 cell의 염증반응에 대한 산열음자(散熱飮子)의 항염증 효과)

  • Sanyeoleumja (SY) is the traditional Korean medicinal prescription for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of eyes. In this study, the anti-inflammatory effects of SY water extract were investigated. To measure the anti-inflammatory effects of SY, we examined the productions of inflammatory factor including nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cells. SY inhibited NO and PGE2 production in a dose dependent manner and decreased the protein and mRNA expression of iNOS and COX-2. Also, SY decreased the mRNA expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β). In conclusion, SY downregulated LPS-induced inflammatory factor productions, which could be a clinical basis for inflammatory diseases.

  • The Halliwick concept was developed by James McMillan over 50 years ago, and began as a method for teaching swimming to children with physical disables. After that the Halliwcik concept was developed as a specific strategy(called the Ten-Point Program) for teaching swimming to children with disabilities. Soon after the changes in the physical and emotional behavior were attributed to a unique teaching/learning philosophy and a psycho-sensory-motor learning program that is enhanced by hydrodynamics. Recognizing the therapeutic effects of the Ten-Pont Program adapted the program as a therapeutic intervention called Water Specific Therapy or the Logic Approach to Therapy in Water.
