  • Moisture Index time series derived from NOAA/AVHRR data have showed to be useful for humid and arid states. The humid/arid states of the Geum river basin are classified by means of the moisture index estimated from the climatic water budget model. Validations showed that the moisture index has excellent ability to detect humid/arid conditions and to measure time of its onset, intensity and duration. In this study, a simple method to classify the moisture index is proposed by statistical distribution condition. Also, the moisture index is compared with the regional actual state to detect drought area.

  • The extensive Snake River floodplain in Northwest United States has experienced major changes in water channels and vegetation types due to floodings. To detect the change of wetland cover-types for the period of 1985 and 1988, post-classification comparison and image differencing change detection techniques were evaluated using Landsat-5 TM digital data. Differenced infrared-band images indicated better accuracy indices than any visible-band images. A thresholding technique was applied to identify the change and no change categories from the transformed images produced by image differencing. The problems in using different accuracy indices, including the Kappa coefficient of agreement, overall accuracy, producer's accuracy, user's accuracy, and average accuracy(based on both the producer's and user's accuracy approaches) in determining an optimal threshold level, were examined.

  • On January 1, 2024, an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.5 occurred on the Noto Peninsula in Japan. The earthquake caused significant surface displacement on the Noto Peninsula. The surface displacement is measured by global navigation satellite system (GNSS) base stations, but there are limitations in obtaining information in areas where base stations do not exist. Therefore, in this study, we aim to determine the horizontal land surface displacement across the Noto Peninsula using offset tracking, which can detect rapidly occurring displacement. As a result of analyzing the Noto Peninsula using the offset tracking technique, it was found that more horizontal surface displacement occurred in the northwest region than in the northeast region of the Noto Peninsula, where the epicenter was located, and the surface displacement value reached a maximum of 2.9 m. The results of this study can be used to calculate surface displacement values in areas where surface displacement data are not available through ground GNSS base stations.

  • Very high resolution (VHR) satellite imagery provide valuable information on urban change monitoring due to multi-temporal observation over large areas. Recently, there has been increased interest in the urban change detection technique using VHR Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging system, because it can take images regardless of solar illumination and weather condition. In this paper, we proposed a texture-based urban change detection method using the VHR SAR texture features generated from Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM). In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method, the result was compared, visually and quantitatively, with the result of Non-Coherent Change Detection (NCCD) which is widely used for the change detection of VHR SAR image. The experimental results showed the greater detection accuracy and the visually satisfactory result compared with the NCCD method. In conclusion, the proposed method has shown a great potential for the extraction of urban change information from VHR SAR imagery.

  • Information of target changes in inaccessible areas is very important in terms of national security. Fast and accurate change detection of targets is very important to respond quickly. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar can acquire images with high accuracy regardless of weather conditions and solar altitude. With the recent increase in the number of SAR satellites, it is possible to acquire images with less than one day temporal resolution for the same area. This advantage greatly increases the availability of change detection for inaccessible areas. Commonly available information in satellite SAR is amplitude and phase information, and change detection techniques have been developed based on each technology. Those are amplitude Change Detection (ACD), Coherence Change Detection (CCD). Each algorithm differs in the preprocessing process for accurate automatic classification technique according to the difference of information characteristics and the final detection result of each algorithm. Therefore, by analyzing the academic research trends for ACD and CCD, each technologies can be complemented. The goal of this paper is identifying current issues of SAR change detection techniques by collecting research papers. This study would help to find the prerequisites for SAR change detection and use it to conduct periodic detection research on inaccessible areas.

  • A comparative study was conducted for alternative consecutive procedures of detection of cloud-contaminated pixels and gap-filling and smoothing of time-series data to produce high-quality gapless satellite vegetation index (i.e. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, NDVI). Performances of five alternative methods for detecting cloud contaminations were tested with ground-observed cloudiness data. The data gap was filled with a simple linear interpolation and then, it was applied two alternative smoothing methods (i.e. Savitzky-Golay and Wavelet transform). Moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) data were used in this study. Among the alternative cloud detection methods, a criterion of MODIS Band 3 reflectance over 10% showed best accuracy with an agreement rate of 85%, which was followed by criteria of MODIS Quality assessment (82%) and Band 3 reflectance over 20% (81%), respectively. In smoothing process, the Savitzky-Golay filter was better performed to retain original NDVI patterns than the wavelet transform. This study demonstrated an operational framework of gapdetection, filling, and smoothing to produce high-quality satellite vegetation index.

  • Online game-bots are already known for a lot of persons by various ways. It leads to problems such as declining game player's interest, in-game financial crisis, etc. Detecting and restricting of game-bot is now essential. Because both publishers and players get disadvantages from their long term abnormal working. But it is not easy to restrict, because of false restriction risks. Game publishers need to distinguish game-bot from server-side game logs. At last, it should can make reasons for game-bot restriction. In this paper, we classified game-bot users by using daily separated game logs for testing data. For daily-driven detection, we separated total dataset into one day logs. Preliminary detects game-bots with one day logs, and determines total results by using these data. Daily driven detection advantages on detection which contains combined game playing style. Which shows like normal user and game-bot. These methodology shows better F1-score, which one of indicator which demonstrate classification accuracy. It increases from 0.898 to 0.945 by using Random Forest classifier.

  • The Detection Model is the model to find the result of a certain purpose using artificial intelligent, data mining, intelligent algorithms In Cyber Security, it usually uses to detect intrusion, malwares, cyber incident, and attacks etc. There are an amount of unlabeled data that are collected in a real environment such as security data. Since the most of data are not defined the class labels, it is difficult to know type of data. Therefore, the label determination process is required to detect and analysis with accuracy. In this paper, we proposed a KDFL(K-means and D-S Fusion based Labeling) method using D-S inference and k-means(unsupervised) algorithms to decide label of data records by fusion, and a detection model architecture using a proposed labeling method. A proposed method has shown better performance on detection rate, accuracy, F1-measure index than other methods. In addition, since it has shown the improved results in error rate, we have verified good performance of our proposed method.

  • In this paper, spatially-adaptive denormalization (SPADE) based U-Net is proposed to detect changes by using high-resolution satellite images. The proposed network is to preserve spatial information using SPADE. Change detection methods using high-resolution satellite images can be used to resolve various urban problems such as city planning and forecasting. For using pixel-based change detection, which is a conventional method such as Iteratively Reweighted-Multivariate Alteration Detection (IR-MAD), unchanged areas will be detected as changing areas because changes in pixels are sensitive to the state of the environment such as seasonal changes between images. Therefore, in this paper, to precisely detect the changes of the objects that consist of the city in time-series satellite images, the semantic spatial objects that consist of the city are defined, extracted through deep learning based image segmentation, and then analyzed the changes between areas to carry out change detection. The semantic objects for analyzing changes were defined as six classes: building, road, farmland, vinyl house, forest area, and waterside area. Each network model learned with KOMPSAT-3A satellite images performs a change detection for the time-series KOMPSAT-3 satellite images. For objective assessments for change detection, we use F1-score, kappa. We found that the proposed method gives a better performance compared to U-Net and UNet++ by achieving an average F1-score of 0.77, kappa of 77.29.
