  • This study examined the relationships among stress, childhood traumatic experience, ego-resilience, and life satisfaction of university students to explore the moderating effects of ego-resilience on those variables. The survey participants were 459 university students in Gyeonggi province. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression, and moderated multiple regression by SPSS. The results were as follows. Stress, childhood traumatic experience and ego resilience had correlations with the life satisfaction. Ego resilience and stress were significant effective variables on the life satisfaction. Moderated multiple regression analysis also showed that a positive future orientation, which is a sub factor of ego-resilience, influenced the stress level. Based on these findings, it is important to lower the stress levels to increase the students' life satisfaction level. To do so, a strategy to enhance the positive future orientation is recommended.

  • This paper attempts to estimate the diesel fuel demand function in Korea using panel data panel data of 16 major cities or provinces which consist of diesel demands, diesel market prices and gross value added from the year 1998 to 2015. I apply panel GLS(generalized least square) model, fixed effect model, random effect model and dynamic panel model to estimating the parameters of the diesel fuel demand function. The results show that short-run price elasticities of the diesel fuel demand are estimated to be -0.2146(panel GLS), -0.2886(fixed effect), -0.2854(random effect), -0.1905(dynamic panel) respectively. And short-run income elasticities of the diesel fuel demand are estimated to be 0.7379(panel GLS), 0.4119(fixed effect), 0.7260(random effect), 0.4166(dynamic panel) respectively. The short-run price and income elasticities explain that demand for diesel fuel is price- and income-inelastic. The long-run price and income elasticities are estimated to be -0.4784, 1.0461 by dynamic panel model, which means that demand for diesel fuel is price-inelastic but income-elastic in the long run. In addition I apply dummy variable model to estimate the effect of 16 major cities or provinces on diesel demands. The results show that diesel demands is affected 10 regions on the basis of Seoul.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of post-traumatic stress on the quality of life and effects of resilience in industrial accident patients. Participants in this study were 158 patients in an industrial hospital and general hospital in two metropolitan urban areas. Data were collected from July 1 to September 30, 2017 using self-report questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, hierarchical regression, and Sobel's test using SPSS 21.0. There were significant negative correlations post-traumatic stress, quality of life, effects of resilience and were significant positive correlations quality of life, effects of resilience. The effects of resilience showed partial mediating effects, but not moderating effects on post-traumatic stress and quality of life. Post-traumatic stress and resilience explained 45% of the effects of industrial accidents on quality of life, post-traumatic stress explained 23% of the effects on quality of life, and the mediating effect of resilience was 22%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop interventions that improve quality of life by reducing post-traumatic stress and increasing resilience among workers who experience industrial accidents.

  • In this study, we examine the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between grit and self-determination in college students in order to provide basic data for ensuring the positive development required for college students to understand their collective, as well as their individual, abilities. This study comprised college students sampled from three cities in Chungcheong province: Daejeon, Sejong, and Cheonan. The collected data were analyzed using AMOS 22.0 statistical software. The results of this study are as follows. First, firmness of mind and courage in the face of hardship (based on the resilience of college students) was found to have a statistically significant, positive effect on that resilience. Second, this grit in college students has a statistically significant, positive effect on their self-determination. Third, the resilience from college students' self-determination revealed that resilience has a statistically significant, positive impact on their self-determination. Fourth, we found after verifying the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between grit and self-determination of college students that resilience has a mediating effect in the relationship between grit and self-determination. This study is significant in that it provided empirical grounds for self-determination in college students by identifying the relationship between the motivational variables affecting their self-determination.
