  • Location privacy has been a serious concern for mobile users who use location-based services to acquire geographical location continuously. Spatial cloaking technique is a well-known privacy preserving method, which blurs an exact user location into a cloaked area to meet privacy requirements. However, cloaking for continuous moving object suffers from cloaked area size problem as it is unlikely for all objects travel in the same direction. In this paper, we propose a grid-based privacy preservation method with an improved Earth Mover's Distance(EMD) metric weight update scheme for semantic cloaking. We also define a representative cloaking area which protects continuous location privacy for moving users. Experimental implementation and evaluation exhibit that our proposed method renders good efficiency and scalability in cloaking processing time and area size control. We also show that our proposed method outperforms the existing method by successfully protects location privacy of continuous moving objects against various adversaries.

  • In this paper, we propose AMV scheme which supports k-anonymization by using vectors for mobile clients. AMV can produces the minimal cloaking area using motion vector information of users (clients). The main reason for minimizing cloaking area is a server has to send the object information to all users who request the spatial queries. The experimental results show that the proposed AMV has superior performance over existing methods.

  • Recent development in wireless communication technology like GPS as well as mobile equipments like PDA and cellular phone makes location-based services (LBSs) popular. However, because users request a query to LBS servers by using their exact locations while moving on the road network, users' privacy may not be protected in the LBSs. Therefore, a mechanism for users' privacy protection is required for the safe and comfortable use of LBSs by mobile users. For this, we, in this paper, propose a road network distance based cloaking scheme supporting user privacy protection in location-based services. The proposed scheme creates a cloaking area by considering road network distance, in order to support the efficient and safe LBSs on the road network. Finally, we show from our performance analysis that our cloaking scheme outperforms the existing cloaking scheme in terms of cloaking area and service time.

  • Call packing has been recognized as a routing scheme that significantly reduces the blocking probability of connection requests in a circuit-switched Clos multistage interconnection network. In this paper, for the first time, a general analytical model for the point-to-point blocking probability of the call-packing scheme applied to Clos networks is developed. By introducing a new parameter called the degree of call packing, the model can correctly estimate the blocking probability of both call-packing and random routing schemes. The model is verified by computer simulation for various size networks and traffic conditions.

  • In Location-Based Services (LBSs), users requesting a location-based query send their exact location to a database server and thus the location information of the users can be misused by adversaries. Therefore, a privacy protection method is required for using LBS in a safe way. In this paper, we propose a new cloaking region generation algorithm using grids for privacy protection in LBSs. The proposed algorithm creates a m inimum cloaking region by finding L buildings and then performs K-anonymity to search K users. For this, we make use of not only a grid-based index structure, but also an efficient pruning techniques. Finally, we show from a performance analysis that our cloaking region generation algorithm outperforms the existing algorithm in term of the size of cloaking region.

  • Recently with the rapid development of LBS (Location-based Services) technology, approaches of protecting user's location have gained tremendous attentions. For using LBS, users need to forward their real locations to LBS server. However, if the user sends his/her real location to LBS server, the server will have the all the information about user in LBS. Moreover, if the user opens it to LBS server for a long time, the trajectory of user may be released. In this paper, we propose GTC (Grid-based Trajectory Cloaking) method to address the privacy issue. Different from existing approaches, firstly the GTC method sets the predicting trajectory and divides the map into $2^n*2^n$ grid. After that we will generate cloaking regions according to user's desired privacy level. Finally the user sends them to LBS server randomly. The GTC method can make the cost of process less than sequential trajectory k-anonymity. Because of confusing the departure and destination, LBS server could not know the user's trajectory any more. Thus, we significantly improve the privacy level. evaluation results further verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our GTC method.

  • With the development of location-based applications such as smart phones and GPS navigation, active research is being conducted to protect location and trajectory privacy. To receive location-related services, users must disclose their exact location to the server. However, disclosure of users' location exposes not only their locations but also their trajectory to the server, which can lead to concerns of privacy violation. Furthermore, users request from the server not only location information but also multimedia information (photographs, reviews, etc. of the location), and this increases the processing cost of the server and the information to be received by the user. To solve these problems, this study proposes the EGTC (Enhanced Grid-based Trajectory Cloaking) technique. As with the existing GTC (Grid-based Trajectory Cloaking) technique, EGTC method divides the user trajectory into grids at the user privacy level (UPL) and creates a cloaking region in which a random query sequence is determined. In the next step, the necessary information is received as index by considering the sub-grid cell corresponding to the path through which the user wishes to move as c(x,y). The proposed method ensures the trajectory privacy as with the existing GTC method while reducing the amount of information the user must listen to. The excellence of the proposed method has been proven through experimental results.
