Foreign Cruise Ship Passengers' Satisfaction with the Korean Port of Calls Focused on the Passengers Visiting Busan, Incheon, and Cheju Ports (외래 크루즈선 승객의 기항지 만족도 - 부산, 인천, 제주항 입항 크루즈선 승객을 중심으로 -)

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the effects of major factors influencing cruise ship passengers' satisfaction with a port of call on overall satisfaction with it and the differences in satisfaction with the domestic port of calls. To achieve these objectives, as a conceptual framework of the study, cruise tourism and tourist satisfaction were reviewed, and the empirical studies on cruise ship passengers's perceptions toward the Korean port of calls were conducted. According to the findings of this study, the following suggestions were presented to the local governments with the port of calls. The local governments are required to improve the food services provided around the port of call areas, and in addition, in case of Cheju, improvement of tourism information service which is verified as the most significant factor affecting passenger's overall satisfaction with the port of call is needed as well.

  • This study introduces a new cruise ship design model with residence concept by carrying out a specific design procedure on the regionally and culturally characterized cruise model. Cruise ship design requires a combined approach with architectural design skills, shipbuilding techniques and even the knowledge of business management. Contrary to the traditional cargo ship design in which the design of residence area on the top of cruise ship is performed first and then the lower part of the ship structure is determined as a final step, a top-down procedure for the conceptual ship design is adopted.

  • Lab scale experiment study was carried out for biological process development on cruise. SBR(Sequence Bath Reactor), MBR(Membrane Bioreactor), and MSBR(Membrane Sequence Bath Reactor) system were investigated for practical application on shipboard sewage treatment. From the results it was suggested that MSBR system might be suitable process for cruise in terms of pollutant removal efficiency, maintenance and special environmental conditions of cruise. Based on Res. MEPC.159(55) the MSBR system was qualified for the required regulations.

  • Recently, the number of tourists using cruise ships in Korea is increasing. and an big cruise ship with an gross tonnage of 160,000 tons or more has entered the domestic ports. Therefore, the government has been making a lot of efforts to confirm the cruise infrastructure for revitalization of the domestic cruise industry. However, there are no standards for cruise ship specifications and water facilities in the domestic port and fishery design standards. Currently, construction of dedicated cruise facilities is under way in major domestic ports. However, due to lack of specifications and domestic standards for cruise ships, it is difficult to design and license special facilities. Therefore, in this study, PIANC rule and domestic harbor and designing standard of fishing port were compared and analyzed in order to present the standard specification of cruise ships. And analyzed the representative linearity of cruises currently being operated. As a result of the ship characteristics analysis, There was a difference in coastal passenger ship in specifications and ship maneuverability. Therefore, in order to design facilities dedicated to cruising, the specifications of the target ship must be included in the domestic design standard. In addition, in order to calculate the scope of the target ship, I applied the coverage rate of 75% to the average specification value of the cruise ship and presented the standards of the cruise ship and the standard of the water area facilities.

제주 강정항 선박조종시뮬레이션 결과 분석 및 평가

  • 제주 강정항 대상선박인 15만톤급 초대형 크루즈선(Queen Mary 2)의 안전 입출항 여부를 판별하기 위하여 항로 중심선 교각을 30도로 변경 풍속을 최대 27노트까지 적용하여 선박조종시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션 분석 결과 남방파제 부두는 별다른 문제없이 초대형 크루즈선의 안전한 입출항이 가능하였다. 서방파제 부두는 풍속 20knots까지는 안전성이 확보 되었으나, 풍속 27노트 조건에서는 서측 돌제부두를 축소 조정하거나 가변식으로 변경할 경우 안전성이 더욱 향상되는 것으로 판별되었다. 또한 현행 1.5L 미만에서도 충분하게 180도 선회가 가능함이 검증되었고, 자력으로 안전하게 운항할 수 있는 풍속 범위는 20노트로 판별되었으나 비상사태에 신속하게 대응하고 안전성 향상 차원에서 상시 대마력 예선 2척을 운용할 필요가 있다.

  • 특수선(FPSO, Drillship)의 거주구역이나, 대형 여객선(크루즈선) 공간의 70% 이상을 차지하는 수용시설(accommodation) 즉, 객실, 라운지, 공공장소, 창고 등은 24시간 사람이 상주하는 구역임으로 화재로부터 완벽하게 보호되어야 한다. 이를 위해 국제해사기구(IMO)에서는 SOLAS II-2 Reg. 10.6과 FSS code Ch. 8에 적합한 미분무수 소화설비를 설치할 것을 강제화하고 있다. 이러한 미분무수 소화설비는 미분무수 노즐, 압력용기, 섹션밸브, 펌프유닛 등으로 구성되는데 특히 핵심부품인 미분무수 노즐은 IMO Res. MSC 265(84)에 따라 노즐성능시험 및 화재진압성능시험을 통해 형식승인을 득해야 한다. 본 연구에서 이러한 기준에 만족하는 미분무수 노즐을 개발하고자 선실 및 복도에 대한 화재시험에 이어 공공장소 화재시험을 수행하였으며, 두 가지 천장 높이에 대한 화재진압성능을 평가하였다.

The Study for Evaluation of Thermal Comfort in Passenger Cabin on Cruise Ship (크루즈선 객실의 공조 쾌적성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The present work focuses on the evaluation of thermal comfort in passenger cabin of a cruise ship. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD(Airpak)) is used to calculate air velocity and temperature distribution in the passenger cabin as well as PMV and PPD. The CFD is used to simulate two different cases, room unit system and wardrobe duct system. Both of cases are simulated in summer environment condition. The room unit system and wardrobe duct system are compared and evaluated by ISO 7730 thermal comfort categories. The performance of room unit system is shown to be more effective for this typical case of passenger cabin.
