Analysis of Bar in Coil's Application to Rebar Work (철근공사의 코일철근(Bar in Coil) 적용타당성 분석)

  • The proportion of rebar factory manufacturing which has been settled down in Korea recently seems to increase because of their strength such as high decreasing rate of rebar loss and manufacturing accuracy and the external factors such as an increase of downtown projects and a decrease of skilled workers. However, factory manufacturing using straight rebars causes a certain amount of rebar loss and an environmental problem including $CO_2$ emissions. To solve these problems, Bar in coil (BIC) has been introduced; however its application is very rare because it has not been produced so far in Korea and manufacturing machines of BIC are very expensive. Also, although BIC's application is expected to expand due to its strengths, few analysis of its application has been conducted. Therefore in this study, analysis of the BIC's characteristics and the influence to the rebar manufacturing industry are conducted for the advancement of rebar work as a basic research. To achieve this, inquiry on the present condition of rebar manufacturing industry in Korea is implemented. Then, the validation of BIC's applications by aspects of industry and the analysis of stakeholders' economical profit and loss are conducted.

Experimental Evaluation on Bond Strengths of Reinforcing Bar in Coils with Improved Machinability during Straightening Process (직선화 가공성을 고려한 코일철근의 실험적 부착강도 평가)

  • A new deformation of reinforcing bar in coils was proposed to improve a machinability of straightening process, which has crescent-shaped transverse ribs with an inclination angle of 50 degrees, a crest width of $0.15d_b$, and a flank inclination of 55 degrees. The proposed deformation can increase contact area between a surface of re-bar and a groove of a roller during a straightening process and, therefore, it might reduce a damage of ribs, improve a final straightness, and enhance an efficiency of the straightening process. Splice tests were conducted to evaluate bond strengths of three types of re-bar in coils including the proposed re-bar, of which the inclination angles of transverse ribs were 50, 60, and 90 degrees, respectively. Test results show that the re-bars in coils have higher bond strengths than predicted strengths by equations of Orangun et al., ACI 408, and KCI by at least 10%. Correlation coefficients of bond strengths between a straight bar and re-bars in coils are 0.94 and more. Consequently, equations of the KCI code for determining development and splice lengths can be applied to the tested re-bars in coils.

Signal Characteristics of Multi-coil Probe for the Test of Reinforcement Embedded in Concrete (다중 코일에 의한 콘크리트내의 철근 탐지 시 신호 특성)

  • This study suggests a rebar detection technique for simultaneous detection of size and cover of embedded reinforcement in concrete. The structure of the probe made in this study is somewhat different from commercial ones. This probe has three sensing coils. Rebar size and cover depth can be evaluated by detecting and analyzing the signal from them. Amplitude and phase variation of each coil in the probe was investigated using an impedance analyzer and the loci of transfer functions of the coils were analyzed. The locus of transfer function from the sensing coil positioned inside excitation coil was simple as well known, but the others from the coils outside excitation coil were not so. Actual experiment on rebar detection was performed with our probe and an eddy current test system for various rebar sizes and depths. The signal shape according to variation of cover depths showed the same tendency with the transfer function loci acquired by impedance analyzer. The different variation pattern of signal enabled to evaluate rebar size and cover depth simultaneously.

An Evaluation Technique of Surface Roughness of Corroded Reinforcing Bar-in-Coils (코일철근의 표면 거칠기 물리량 평가 기술)

  • This paper discusses the surface roughness of corroded reinforcement rebar-in-coil focusing on the quantitative measurement technique using 3D scanner. Reinforcement rebar-in-coil was stacked in site for 0 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days and 21 days. And rebar-in-coil was corroded 0.04%, 0.3367%, 0.6157%, 0.7898%, and 1.1965% respectively. Using 3-dimensional scanner, each surface profile of reinforcement rebar-in-coil was established, and surface roughness was measured. Through the tests and analyses of corroded rebar-in-coil, the increase of fractal dimension for each rebar-in-coil was measured as 0.0216, 0.0235, 0.028, 0.0319, and 0.0455 for different stacked periods. Therefore, surface assessment technique using fractal dimension showed similar results with the actual corrosion rate.

냉음극방전등의 기동특성에 미치는 Co$^{60}$ 의 조사효과에 관한 연구 제1보

  • 본 연구는 냉음극방전등의 기동특성에 방사성동위원소의 이온화작용을 이용하여 기동특성의 개량을 시도하려는 것이다. 냉음극이나 열음극방전등을 막론하고 일반으로 사용되는 것은 상용전압인 저전압에서는 직접 점등이 불능하기 때문에 순시 또는 한시적인 승압장치가 필요하나. 예컨데 네온 관과 같는 냉음극방전등에서는 한시적인 승압 및 방전전류의 제한때문에 누설변압기를 사용하고 또 형광방전관 및 저압수은방전관과 같은 열음극방전관은 저전압기동을 위한 음극의 가열과 순시적인 승압장치로 점등관 및 쵸크코일등을 사용하고 있다.이와같이 방전등에서는 고전압기동으로 말미암은 승압장치 때문에 경제적 부담과 전력의 손실을 초래하고 있다. 그러기 때문에 저전압기동을 해결하는 것과 방전등의 방전개시전압의 부정으로 인한 방전개시전압의 시간적인 변동을 해결하는 것이 중요한 방전등 기동특성의 개량이다. 그리고 일반방전등에서는 그다지 문제되여 있지 않지만 방전이 늦임도 기동의 한 요소로 되어있다.
