Design-Based Learning for Computational Thinking (Computational Thinking 향상을 위한 디자인기반 학습)

  • In this paper, we studied a design-based learning for Computational Thinking in Computational Literacy. The design-based learning for computational thinking in computational literacy education started from a MIT media laboratory in 2011. We revised the design-based learning and applied it to educational field. We considered educational strategies and derived the implications, after teaching fourth grade gifted students. Moreover we conducted and analyzed a questionnaire survey, observations and interviews. As the result, the design-based learning in computational literacy is effective for creative computational thinking that students create their ideas and make a meaningful artifacts from it. We expect that this study provides the basic data to apply a design-based learning for computational thinking to Computer education.

  • 신배전정보시스템(NDIS, New Distribution Information System)은 범국가적으로 진행 중에 있는 지리정보시스템(GIS, Geographic Information System)을 한전의 업무특성에 맞게 적용한 시스템이다. 계획, 설계, 공사관리, 설비운영의 단계로 순환하는 배전업무의 특성을 분석하여 적합한 정보체계를 수립하고 이를 근거로 수집된 정보의 종합분석을 통해 경제적이고 합리적인 투자와 보수계획 수립을 가능하도록 지원하는 관리시스템이다. 또한 배전 기동보수업무는 배전선로의 순시점검과 설비의 개 보수, 각종 측정과 점검, 사고와 고장 처리, 설비와 부하관리 등을 포함하는 중요한 업무 중의 하나이다. 그러므로 이런 업무를 이동 컴퓨팅 환경을 토대로 시스템화함으로써 기동보수업무를 체계적이고 종합적으로 관리하는 것이 가능해진다. 또한 기동보수시스템을 신배전정보시스템(이하 NDIS)과 연계함으로써 상호간에 정보공유를 통한 더 유용한 시스템으로 발전할 것이다. 본 시스템 개발 완료후 현장 활용시 업무생산성 및 담당자의 편리성이 증대될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 웹(WEB)의 발전과 더불어 대부분의 이용자 지원 시스템들이 웹을 기반으로 개발되거나 변경되어지고 있다. 또한, SOA, 클라우딩 컴퓨팅 등 현재 이슈가 되는 대부분의 정보서비스 관련 부분들이 서비스 중심으로 사고하고 구현할 수 있는 체제로 바뀌어 가고 있으며, 정보서비스를 구현하기 위해 개발자는 물리적인 하드웨어 혹은 전산 장비가 무엇인지 알 필요 없이 해당 서비스를 설계하고 지원 받기를 원한다. 본 논문에서는 전산실에서 보유하고 있는 서버, 스토리지, 네트워크 장비 등의 자원을 서비스 이용자에게 효율적으로 제공하고 관리할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하여, 이용자의 요구 사항을 효과적으로 지원하는 내용을 다루며, 이를 위해 정보서비스 지원 신청서 및 수행되는 작업 프로세스를 정의한다.

  • Complex disasters make greater damage and higher losses unexpected than the past. To prevent these disasters, it needs to prepare a plan for handling unexpected results. Especially an accident at a facility like an atomic power plant makes a big problem cause of climate change. A simulation needs to do preliminary researches based on diverse situations. In this research we define the basic component techniques to design and implement the disaster management system. Basically a hierarchical system design method is to build on the resources provided from high performance computing(HPC) and large-scale storage systems. To develop the system, it is considered middleware as well as application studies, data studies and decision making services in convergence areas.

  • The rapidly changing 21st-century knowledge and information society is emphasizing converged education that crosses various academic fields. In particular, the society expected the cultivation of the talent who balance scientific creativity and artistic sensitivity by adding arts to the existing converged education revolving around science and technology. However, at present, most STEAM education has been actively conducted with a focus on science and technology, whereas the subject of arts has been regarded or utilized as a supplementary means. Its problem is that the educational characteristics and values of art education have not been effectively utilized in educational terms and this could lead to superficial integrated education. In this respect, this study had the knowledge of various fields, such as science, technology, and mathematics, utilized usefully during the process of experiencing and creating arts. Accordingly, this study designed an education programs as with the case of Nam-Jun Baek who expanded the dominion of arts by creatively utilizing his own time's scientific technologies. In this educational process, the target program was developed in a manner that enables EPL to be utilized essentially as the study's knowledge-based tool and medium. The results of applying this educational program in 5th-grade elementary school students showed that the program has positive effects on the creative attributes of the students.

  • 상수관망의 수질사고와 이상상황 발생시 대응을 위해서는 급수구역에 설치되어 있는 자동수질측정기, 정밀여과장치, 재염소주입설비, 자동드레인 등의 계측·제어설비들 간의 유기적인 정보공유를 통한 제어를 필요로 한다. 스마트 상수관망 운영플랫폼은 이러한 인프라 시설의 운영방안을 고려하여 분산되어 있는 계측데이터를 통합감시 및 제어하는 시스템으로 개발되었다. 상수관망 운영플랫폼은 능동형 분석 제어기술을 도입하여, 스마트 상수관망 인프라 설비를 최적제어할 수 있도록 구현하였다. 통합운영 플랫폼은 PostgreSQL, PostGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers 등의 기술을 활용하여 개발하였다. 플랫폼은 계측감시, 시설관리, 운영제어 등의 기능으로 구성되며, 상수도 업무지원을 위한 관망해석 및 네트워크 분석 기능을 지원한다. 본 시스템은 스마트 상수도 구축사업을 통해 구축한 유량·수질모니터링 장비와 수질관리를 위해 도입된 재염소, 자동드레인 설비의 운영상태를 실시간 조회하는 모니터링 프로그램과, 관망해석 프로그램 그리고 대상설비의 최적제어를 위한 운영관리 프로그램으로 구성되어 있다. 모니터링 프로그램은 현장에서 측정되고 있는 유량, 수압, 수질, 펌프운전 등의 상태를 실시간으로 감시하고 클라우드 데이터베이스에 저장·관리하는 기능을 수행한다. 관망해석 프로그램은 EPA_Net모형과 연계되어 관망수리·수질해석을 수행하는 부분으로 재염소설비의 염소 추가주입이나 자동드레인을 통한 배제시 나타나게되는 관의 수리·수질변화를 클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 분석하고 결과를 가시화 하는 기능을 갖고 있다. 운영관리 프로그램은 재염소 주입이 필요할 경우 주입량의 산정하는 부분과 관망 파손이나 수질사고 발생시 최적 단수예상지역을 도출하는 기능을 보유하고 있다. 향후 스마트 상수관망의 능동형 수질관리를 추진하는 지자체에 도입하여 인프라운영관리 기술 확보 및 수질관리 능력 개선과 실시간 감시 및 위기 대응능력 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Analysis of Scratch code for Student Assessment about Computational Thinking Capability (Computational Thinking 역량에 대한 학습자 평가를 위한 스크래치 코드 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest the method of code analysis for evaluating learners' projects in computational thinking(CT) education. Recently, block programming tools are applied to K-12 SW education, this study considered the assessment method for evaluating students' levels and learning about CT concepts through analyzing codes of the Scratch projects that students created. As a result from the analysis of 45 projects of novices, it showed the bad coding patterns of novices and verified that it is possible to evaluate students' learning about CT concepts through the analysis of their codes. The higher learner's level, the greater scores of logical thinking, synchronization, flow control, and data representation. This result is able to apply to student assessment of CT concepts in K-12 SW education.

  • As coding education is ubiquitous in elementary or higher school curriculum, puzzle-based coding platforms such as Scratch or Entry have been popularly deployed and employed by many Korean coding educational institutions. In this article, we propose a quantitative students' coding assessment methodology and discuss several issues of the method. Besides, we show its usefulness through case studies shown in our proprietary coding platform called "CodingPuzzle" system. Additionally, we describe detailed design and implementation issues of our coding assessment system that has already been ported to the CodingPuzzle system and is currently under operation.

An Analysis on the Mathematical Creativity and Computational Thinking of Elementary School Mathematical Gifted Students in the Convergence Class Programs (융합 수업 프로그램에서 나타나는 초등 수학 영재들의 수학적 창의성과 컴퓨팅 사고 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students through a convergence class using programming and to identify what it means to provide the convergence class using Python for the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students. To this end, the content of the nine sessions of the Python-applied convergence programs were developed, exploratory and heuristic case study was conducted to observe and analyze the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students. The subject of this study was a single group of sixteen students from the mathematics and science gifted class, and the content of the nine sessions of the Python convergence class was recorded on their tablets. Additional data was collected through audio recording, observation. In fact, in order to solve a given problem creatively, students not only naturally organized and formalized existing mathematical concepts, mathematical symbols, and programming instructions, but also showed divergent thinking to solve problems flexibly from various perspectives. In addition, students experienced abstraction, iterative thinking, and critical thinking through activities to remove unnecessary elements, extract key elements, analyze mathematical concepts, and decompose problems into small components, and math gifted students showed a sense of achievement and challenge.

Designing the Instructional Framework and Cognitive Learning Environment for Artificial Intelligence Education through Computational Thinking (Computational Thinking 기반의 인공지능교육 프레임워크 및 인지적학습환경 설계)

  • The purpose of this study is to design an instructional framework and cognitive learning environment for AI education based on computational thinking in order to ground the theoretical rationale for AI education. Based on the literature review, the learning model is proposed to select the algorithms and problem-solving models through the abstraction process at the stage of data collection and discovery. Meanwhile, the instructional model of AI education through computational thinking is suggested to enhance the problem-solving ability using the AI by performing the processes of problem-solving and prediction based on the stages of automating and evaluating the selected algorithms. By analyzing the research related to the cognitive learning environment for AI education, the instructional framework was composed mainly of abstraction which is the core thinking process of computational thinking through the transition from the stage of the agency to modeling. The instructional framework of AI education and the process of constructing the cognitive learning environment presented in this study are characterized in that they are based on computational thinking, and those are expected to be the basis of further research for the instructional design of AI education.
