  • With the advancement of computers, opening title sequences in movies are continuously improving. Initially, titles and opening credits were created using what is called the optical method, whereby text was photographed on separate film and then copied onto the movies film negative. In contemporary movie making, however, the title sequence may be seamlessly integrated into the beginning of the movie by an insertion method that not only allows for more diverse technical expression, including the use of both 2D and 3D graphics, but also for its emergence as an independent art form. As such a title sequence, in as little as 50 seconds or up to 10 minutes, is able to convey the films concept while also suggesting more implicit intricacies of plot and thereby eliciting greater interest in the movie. Moreover, according to the directors intent and for a variety of purposes, the title sequence, while maintaining its autonomy, is inseparable from the movie as an organic whole; therefore, it is possible to create works that are highly original in nature. The purpose of this study is to analyze the kinetic typography that appears in title sequences of ten films produced by the Korean entertainment industry in 2012. Production techniques are analyzed in a variety of ways in order to predict the future direction of opening title sequences, as well as present aesthetic and technical models for their creation.

  • Recently augmented reality contents are variously used in public such as advertisements or exhibits as well as children's books. Therefore, it is certain that the market, development of augmented reality contents, is gradually growing. Those who are the producer of augmented reality may be familiar with the skill where those images are used as a marker which is created by image recognition technique. In case of using image recognition technique, they usually use the augmented reality marker platform from Qualcomm since it is able to recognize self-produced images and 3-dimensional figures at no cost. This study was started when undergraduate students began to use those general techniques in their contents producing process. AR majoring students in Namseoul University applied image recognition technique to 3 AR contents exhibited in Sejong Center. Creating 3 different images, they have registered images at Image Target Manager provided by Vuforia to use as a marker. Moreover, they have modified the image producing method to raise the recognition rate by research. The higher recognition rate brings the more stable use of augmented reality contents. To achieve the satisfied rate, they have compared the elements of color contrast, pattern and etc. in the use of platform. Thus, the effective image creation method has been drawn. This study is aiming to suggest the production of stable contents by recognizing smart devices' limitation and producing educational contents. The purpose of this study is to help practically augmented reality contents developers by illustrating the application of augmented reality contents which are based on image recognition technique and also its effectiveness at the same time.

  • 'Beauty and the Beast' was generated as a novel in 1740 and descended to date with the musical movie in 2017. This study is to understand what contents has been derived and expanded from one story for 277 years upon analyzing 'Beauty and the Beast' with the background of the times. Due to the limitation to include all the folktales and stories, the subjects of this study are limited with the contents that had been known and recorded as 'Beauty and the Beast.' 'Beauty and the Beast' has been expanded to 7 types of contents including novel, fairytale, movie, drama, animation, musical and film opera. It was created as a novel in the eighteenth century, made as a fairytale, and developed as a movie by Jean Cocteau, a movie director. With Industrial Revolution and the development of science, 'Beauty and the Beast' which derived into animation, drama, and musical contents, has been developed as the film opera thanks to the new trial of Philip Glass and the development of music industry. 'Beauty and the Beast' is still regenerating with a variety of contents continuously upon the development of computer technology and the fad of global remake. With anticipation of further analytical studies on 'Beauty and the Beast,' it is expected that the data of this study can be contributed as a reference in the other studies.

  • See and feel the emotion recognition is the image of a person variously changed according to the environment, personal disposition. Thus, the image recognition has been focused on the emotional sensibilities computer you want to control the number studies. However, existing emotional computing model is numbered and the objective is clearly insufficient measurement conditions. Thus, through quantifiable image Emotion Recognition and emotion computing, is a study of the situation requires an objective assessment scheme. In this paper, the sensitivity was represented by numbered sizes quantified according to the image recognition calculation emotion. So apply the principal attributes of the color image emotion recognition as a configuration parameter. In addition, in calculating the color sensitivity by applying a digital computing focused research. Image color emotion computing research approach is the color of emotion attribute, brightness, and saturation reflects the weighted according to importance to the emotional scores. And free-degree by applying the sensitivity point to the image sensitivity formula (X), the tone (Y-axis) is calculated as a number system. There pleasure degree (X-axis), the tension and position the position of the image point that the sensitivity of the emotional coordinate crossing (Y-axis). Photon Mapping-Based Rendering Technique for Smoke Particles (연기 파티클에 대한 포톤 매핑 기반의 렌더링 기법)

  • To realistically produce fluids such as smoke for the visual effects in the films or animations, we need two main processes: a physics-based modeling of smoke and a rendering of smoke simulation data, based on light transport theory. In the computer graphics community, the physics-based fluids simulation is generally adopted for smoke modeling. Recently, the interest of the particle-based Lagrangian simulation methods is increasing due to the advantages at simulation time, instead of the grid-based Eulerian simulation methods which was widely used. As a result, because the smoke rendering technique depends heavily on the modeling method, the research for rendering of the particle-based smoke data still remains challenging while the research for rendering of the grid-based smoke data is actively in progress. This paper focuses on realistic rendering technique for the smoke particles produced by Lagrangian simulation method. This paper introduces a technique which is called particle map, that is the expansion and modification of photon mapping technique for the particle data. And then, this paper suggests the novel particle map technique and shows the differences and improvements, compared to previous work. In addition, this paper presents irradiance map technique which is the pre-calculation of the multiple scattering term in the volume rendering equation to enhance efficiency at rendering time.

Interactive Motion Retargeting for Humanoid in Constrained Environment (제한된 환경 속에서 휴머노이드를 위한 인터랙티브 모션 리타겟팅)

  • In this paper, we introduce a technique to retarget human motion data to the humanoid body in a constrained environment. We assume that the given motion data includes detailed interactions such as holding the object by hand or avoiding obstacles. In addition, we assume that the humanoid joint structure is different from the human joint structure, and the shape of the surrounding environment is different from that at the time of the original motion. Under such a condition, it is also difficult to preserve the context of the interaction shown in the original motion data, if the retargeting technique that considers only the change of the body shape. Our approach is to separate the problem into two smaller problems and solve them independently. One is to retarget motion data to a new skeleton, and the other is to preserve the context of interactions. We first retarget the given human motion data to the target humanoid body ignoring the interaction with the environment. Then, we precisely deform the shape of the environmental model to match with the humanoid motion so that the original interaction is reproduced. Finally, we set spatial constraints between the humanoid body and the environmental model, and restore the environmental model to the original shape. To demonstrate the usefulness of our method, we conducted an experiment by using the Boston Dynamic's Atlas robot. We expected that out method can help the humanoid motion tracking problem in the future.

Design of a multimedia interface for the description of human error caused nuclear power plant trips (인적오류로 인한 원자력발전소 고장정지 사건묘사를 위한 멀티미디어 인터페이스 설계)

  • 원자력발전소에서 발생하는 고장정지 사건에 내포된 인적오류의 발생내용을 흥미있고 현장감 있게 묘사시킴과 동시에 종사원들의 인적오류를 저감시키기 위한 새로운 교육훈련방 법으로써 멀티미디어 기술의 사용을 고려하였다. 즉, 컴퓨터 환경하에서 숫자와 텍스트, 음 향 및 음성, 그래픽, 애니메이션, 화상 등의 미디어를 사용하여 인적오류로 인한 고장정지 사건발생의 내용을 전달하는 새로운 교육훈련 방법을 사용하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 고장정 지 사건과 관련한 원자력발전소 구성정보와 종사원의 활동정보를 입출력하기 위한 멀티미디어 인터페이스를 설계하였다. 설계는 멀티미디어 제공환경 구축과 인터페이스 운영논리 설정의 두단계로 구성한 절차에 따라 수행하였다. 멀티미디어 인터페이스는 원자력발전소 구성정보를 설계하여 저장시켜둔 퍼스널 컴퓨터 환경하에서 운영되며, 입력 및 출력의 두가지 인터페이스 를 갖는다. 입력 인터페이스는 인적 오류를 포함한 고장정지 사건의 발생내용을 숫자, 텍스트, 음성 미디어로 받아들여 출력 인터페이스에서 사용될 수 있도록 미디어 결합을 수행하고, 컴퓨터 저장장치에 저장하는 기능을 수행한다. 출력 인터페이스는 저장장치에 기록된 내용을 판독하여 고장정지의 진행경위와 인적오류의 발생내용을 숫자, 문자, 텍스트, 음성, 음향, 그래픽 애니메 이션, 정지화상으로 원자력발전소 종사원들에게 출력시켜 주는 기능을 수행한다. 멀티미디어 출력정보는 사용자가 CRT 화면에 제공되는 버튼 또는 Click Touch 메뉴를 사용함에 따라 이전, 이후의 출력정보로 전이할 수 있도록 하였다.상대적으로 중요한 검사 항목으로 나타났다. 또한 상대적 중요도 결과를 적용한 적성검사 성적이 적용하지 않은 적성검사 성적에 비해 비행성적에 대한 예측 능력이 좋은 것으로 평가되었다.al age)가 있다는 것을 의미하는 것이다. 한편, 생산현장에서는 자동화, 기계화가 진보되어 육체적인 노동이 경감된 결과, 중고령자라도 할 수 있는 작업이 많아지고 있다. 또, VDT (Visual Dislay Terminal) 작업과 같은 정보처리 작업의 수요가 증가하여 그 인재의 부족이 지적되고 있다. 따라서 중고령자의 기능을 조사하여 어떠한 작업에 적합한가를 판단하는 것이 중요한 과제로 되었다. 그러나 노동에는 많은 기능이 관여 하고, 그 내용에 따라서 요구되는 기능이 서로 다르기 때문에 노동적응능력의 기본적인 기능으로 보여지는 것에 좁혀서 작업능력의 연령증가 변화에 대하여다원적 평가를 하는 것이 실제적이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인간이 가지고 있는 다수의 기능중에서 수지교 치성과 연령증가와의 관계를 조사한다. 만약 연령증가 만으로 수지교치성을 평가 할 수 없는 경우에는 어떠한 요인이 수지기민성의 변화에 영향을 미치는가를 검토한다.t list)에서 자동적으로 사건들의 순서가 결정되도록 확장하였으며, 설비 제어방식에 있어서도 FIFO, LIFO, 우선 순위 방식등을 선택할 수 있도록 확장하였다.   • Recently, the number of children of multi-cultural family is increasing and the achievement gap between city and farming village is getting larger. It will be alternatives to develop e-learning contents which students can study by themselves where there are internet connected computers. As one of the solutions to improve students' writing ability, we developed animation e-learning contents about manuscript paper usage and sentence signs. As a result of applying e-learning contents to students, we can make sure that e-learning contents are more effective than existing means such as workbook-centered education and web contents persuaded by text in academic interesting, satisfaction and achievement. Consequently, we offer this training methods as alternatives which can increase academic performance for multi-cultural family and Korean students who are behind the other students in language ability.

  • Motion capture means the recording of movement of objects such as human beings, animals, creatures, machines, etc in a form applicable to computer. Since the motion capture system can be introduced to the fields where realistic movement of human beings and animals, which cannot be attained with an existing key frame method is required, large scale is necessary or economical burden exists, it has a merit and possibility of new expression. For these reasons, this method is increasingly used in the field of digital entertainment such as movie, TV, advertisement, documentary, music video, etc centering around the game. However, in spite of such an advantage, problems such as too much advance preparation work in digital image expressions using motion capture, marker attachment, compensation of motion data, motion retargeting and lack of professional human resources, etc. are becoming a prominent figure. Accordingly, this study intends to suggest the way of more effective production of motion capture digital image through finding the problems and their draft possible solutions in the production process based on the image production examples using motion capture.

The Influences of Computer-Assisted Instruction Emphasizing the Particulate Nature of Matter and Problem-Solving Strategy on High School Students' Learning in Chemistry (물질의 입자성과 문제 해결 전략을 강조한 컴퓨터 보조 수업이 고등학생들의 화학 학습에 미치는 효과)

  • This study examined the influences of computer-assisted instruction(CAl) upon high school students' conceptual understanding, algorithmic problem solving ability, learning motivation, and attitudes toward chemistry instruction. CAl programs were designed to supply animated molecular motions for emphasizing the particulate dynamic nature of matter and immediate feedbacks according to students' response types at each stage of four stage problem-solving strategy(understanding, planning, solving, and reviewing). The CAl and control groups (2 classes) were selected from a girls high school in Seoul, and taught about gas law for four class hours. Data analysis indicated that the students at the CAl group scored significantly higher than those at the control group in the tests on conceptual understanding and algorithmic problem solving ability. In addition, the students at the CAl group performed significantly better in the tests on the learning motivation and attitudes toward chemistry instruction.
