  • Identity authentication is an important technology that has long been used in society to identify individuals and provide appropriate services. With the development of the Internet infrastructure, many areas have expanded into online areas, and identity authentication technologies have also expanded online. However, there is still a limit to identity authentication technology that relies entirely on trusted third parties like the government. A centralized identity management system makes the identification process between agencies with different identity management systems very complex, resulting in a waste of money and time for users. In particular, the limits of the centralized identity management system were clearly revealed in the face mask shortage in the 2020 COVID-19 crisis. A Decentralized Identity (DID) is a way for users to manage their identity on their own, and recently, a number of DID platform based on blockchain technology have been proposed. In this paper, we analyze the limitations of the existing centralized identity management system and propose a DID system that can be utilized in future national emergency situations such as COVID-19.

  • Decentralized approaches are extensively researched by academia and industry in order to cover up the flaws of existing systems in terms of data privacy. Blockchain and decentralized learning are prominent representatives of a deconcentrated approach. Blockchain is secure by design since the data record is irrevocable, tamper-resistant, consensus-based decision making, and inexpensive of overall transactions. On the other hand, decentralized learning empowers a number of devices collectively in improving a deep learning model without exposing the dataset publicly. To motivate participants to use their resources in building models, a decent and proportional incentive system is a necessity. A centralized incentive mechanism is likely inconvenient to be adopted in decentralized learning since it relies on the middleman that still suffers from bottleneck issues. Therefore, we design an incentive model for decentralized learning applications by leveraging the Ethereum smart contract. The simulation results satisfy the design goals. We also outline the concerns in implementing the presented scheme for sensitive data regarding privacy and data leakage.

  • This study leads to the shortcoming that the RSSI distance measurement method is easily affected by the external environment and the position error is large, leading to the problem of optimizing the distance values measured by the RSSI distance measurement nodes in this three-dimensional configuration environment. We proposed the CA-PSO-BP algorithm, which is an improved version of the CA-PSO algorithm. The proposed algorithm allows setting unknown nodes in WSN 3D space. In addition, since CA-PSO was applied to the BP neural network, it was possible to shorten the learning time of the BP network and improve the convergence speed of the algorithm through learning. Through the algorithm proposed in this study, it was proved that the precision of the network location can be increased significantly (15%), and significant results were obtained.

SIP-based Session Management Architecture between Gateways and Servers on Mobius IoT Platform (모비우스 IoT 플랫폼에서 게이트웨이와 서버간 SIP 기반 세션 관리 구조)

  • The service structure of the Mobius IoT platform, which has been developed on the basis of the oneM2M standard, connects servers and gateways directly to exchange data using HTTP or MQTT. Such structure may cause problems not to operate IoT services safely. In this paper, we propose an effective structure to manage sessions between gateways (or devices) and server using SIP safely and stably. In addition, we provide the way to implement the proposed method on Mobius IoT platform. To verify the operation of the proposed method, we actually implement the proposed method on Mobius IoT platform, and construct a testbed for a typical IoT application service environment with SIP servers. The results of the experiment show that the proposed method works normally, and it can contribute to the stable operation of IoT services.

  • To cope with traffic congestion, traffic accidents and lack of parking facilities, caused by dramatic increase in total vehicle number, vigorous researches on managing vehicles efficiently are done, both domestically and internationally. The vehicle license plate recognition makes effective management of traffic possible, with its wide application in many fields, covering from speed enforcement, collecting toll, stolen vehicle detection to parking management. The vehicle license plate recognition system causes high cost for collecting training data. Many researches are done by using the virtual sample method, which can be effective for utilizing limited number of training data by generating virtual sample. This paper investigates techniques to improve the performance of vehicle license plate recognition by using the training data's annexation. Also, popular methods for virtual sample creation used for text recognition algorithm are analyzed and their effectiveness is verified.

Implementation of YOLO based Missing Person Search Al Application System (YOLO 기반 실종자 수색 AI 응용 시스템 구현)

  • It takes a lot of time and manpower to search for the missing. As part of the solution, a missing person search AI system was implemented using a YOLO-based model. In order to train object detection models, the model was learned by collecting recognition images (road fixation) of drone mobile objects from AI-Hub. Additional mountainous terrain datasets were also collected to evaluate performance in training datasets and other environments. In order to optimize the missing person search AI system, performance evaluation based on model size and hyperparameters and additional performance evaluation for concerns about overfitting were conducted. As a result of performance evaluation, it was confirmed that the YOLOv5-L model showed excellent performance, and the performance of the model was further improved by applying data augmentation techniques. Since then, the web service has been applied with the YOLOv5-L model that applies data augmentation techniques to increase the efficiency of searching for missing people.

  • Maritime safety is a critical factor in protecting lives from accidents at sea and fostering a safer marine environment. In this study, we developed a TPMS device aimed at enhancing maritime safety, providing technological solutions for detecting accidents at sea and enabling swift responses. The device utilizes a Tube Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to detect tube expansion and is designed to collect real-time data and communicate with surrounding devices for rapid responses. Experimental results confirm the effective detection of pressure by TPMS (Tube Pressure Monitoring System) and stable data transmission and reception with the main IoT device. Additionally, a mobile app capable of receiving emergency alert messages and accessing information for rapid responses in emergency situations was developed. The developed device and mobile app encompass technology applicable not only in the maritime safety field but also in various other application areas, with potential for expanded application in real-world scenarios in the future. These results are expected to contribute to enhancing safety in the marine environment.

  • 국내의 다음세대 컴퓨터 개발을 위한 VLSI 설계와 CAD 분야에 대한 연구 방향을 제시한다. 연구의 목표는 국제적으로 경쟁할 수 있는 VLSI 설계능력과 백만개 정도의 트랜지스터로 자성된 회로를 경제적으로 설계하기 위한 CAD 기술과 System의 확립이다. ·새로운 회로 구조와 알고리즘에 대한 연구 · CAD 도구와 언어의 개발에 관한 첨단 CAD 기술개발연구 · VLSI 설계에 필요한 CAD 도구 이용과 개발에 필요한 표준 인터페이스, 네트워킹, 컴퓨팅 하드웨어. 시스템 소프트웨어에 대한 연구등의 부분으로 크게 나눌 수 있다. 이용 가능한 CAD system을 평가하고 개선하며 첨단 CAD에 대한 소프트웨어와 하드웨어에 대해 · 컴퓨팅 하드웨어 · 프로그램 분위기 · 네트워킹 능력 ·자료 교환을 위한 표준인터페이스 등에 관해 조사분석도 병행한다.   • The purpose of this paper is to examine the possible benefits of combining transportation planning models with geographic information systems (GIS) in the hope that intergrating these systems can alleviate the inherent problems of transportation planning models such as user unfriendliness, labor intensiveness, and theoretical limitations. Specially, this paper focuses on the issue of incompatiblity between GIS and the conventional transportation planning models in dealing with network topologies. Resolving this conflict in topologies is a conerstone for eliminating the user-unfriendliness and labor-intensiveness issues. This paper presents the development of an algorithm that converts GIS topology into transportation network topology. The FORTRAN-based topology conversion algorithm generates transportation networks from the GIS cartographic file and establishes a communication charmel between the two systems.

A Study on the Sediment Transport using Radioisotope Tracer (방사성동위원소 추적자를 이용한 표사이동 추적실험)

  • On the basis of the radiotracer technology and the related equipments which have been developed for its industrial application through the nuclear long-term research project, a radiotracer study on sediment transport was carried out as a part of the development of the radiotracer technology for a coastal environment. The crystalline material doped with iridium having a similar composition and specific gravity as those of the bedload sand collected from the research area was produced by the oxide-route method. A radioisotope container was specially designed to inject the radiotracer from 1 m above the sea bedload without radioactive contamination during the transport from the nuclear reactor at KAERI. The position data from the DGPS and the radiation measurement data were collected concurrently and stored by means of the application software programmed with the LabVIEW of the National Instrument. The position data was reprocessed to represent the real position of the radiation probe under water and not that of the DGPS antenna on board. The time dependency of the spatial distribution of the sediment was studied in the area through three tracking measurements after the iridium glass was injected. This trial application showed the potential of the radiotracer technology as an important role for maintaining and developing the coastal environment in the future.
