An Efficient Encryption Scheme Combining PRNG and Permutation for Mobile Multimedia Data (모바일 멀티미디어 데이타를 위한, 의사난수생성기와 순열 기법을 결합한 효율적인 암호화 기법)

  • In Digital Right Management, symmetric cipher is used for content encryption to reduce encryption cost, AES, advanced encryption standard is usually used to multimedia encryption under desktop environment because of its reasonable security level and computation cost. But mobile handheld device often uses slow speed processor and operates under battery-powered environment. Therefore it requires low computation cost and low energy consumption. This paper proposes new stream cipher scheme which combines pseudo random number generator(PRNG) and dynamically generated permutations. Proposed scheme activates PRNG and generates original key streams. Then it generates extended key streams by applying permutation to original sequence. These extended key streams are XORed with plaintext and generate ciphertext. Proposed scheme reduces the usage of PRNG. Therefore this scheme is fast and consumes less energy in comparison with normal stream cipher. Especially, this scheme shows great speed up (almost 2 times) than normal stream cipher scheme in random access.

  • A literature analysis for the planning and realization of the multimedia meta database and digital library's integrated information system was carried out to establish the various oceanographic resources in the Oceanographic Information Center, the first in Korea. The study targeted from printed matter, network resources, full-text and to VOD. The focus of the analysis lies in the providing practical integrated information retrieval service for oceanographic resources based on the framework of effective MODS metadata with network resources description. The analyses included oceanographic resources, multimedia information processing, MODS metadata descriptive elements, metadata classification, system organization, and retrieval for planning and implementation of the multimedia meta database system.

  • XML is becoming a new developing tool of web technology because of its ability of data management and flexibility in data presentation. So it's well researched that the reusability and integration with learning objects such as text, image, sound, video and plug-in programs of web contents in computer education. But the research for storing, extracting and integrating metadata about learning object was needed prior to implementing online learning system to integrate and manage it. Therefore this study propose a new method of using web service of DBMS for extracting learning object's metadata in database server which located in 3-tier system. To evaluate the efficiency of proposed method, The test server and two DBMSs(MS SQL Server 2000 and Oracle 9i) which have 30 metadata was implemented and the response time of it was measured. The response time of it was short, but in order to using this method the additional programming with SAX/DOM was necessary.

Development of Electoronic Book of Korea Standard (한국 전자책 문서표준(EBKS)의 개발)

  • Generally, a paper book that is digitalized or a method of giving information to user in a form of paper book after digitalization is called ebook. Due to the rapid spread of internet and development of digital information technology, ebook has become an important issue globally. Not only can ebook send information efficiently but the price is low and compared to paper books it is more effective in sending information by using technologies like multimedia. However, ebook markets have problems to grow because there are different ebook formats. In this study, we will explain about the development of Electronic Book of Korea Standard(EBKS) to solve the problems. The purpose of EBKS is the exact exchange for ebook contents. To archive this purpose, we define the explict logical structure for documents and recommend metadata for doemetic enviroments and XSL-FO to provide high-quality layout. We expect that the establishment of EBKS will greatly contribute to growth of ebook markets by preventing the duplicable investment for contents and technologies.

  • The development of information system and communication gave us new education model, called remote education. And the remote education, being free from constraint of time and space and using various multimedia resources, has helped and substituted public educations, and has enlarged the area because of a lot of advantages and educational possibility compared to public educations. But it is very insufficient to study on analysis system which can analyze the learner and improve the educational process compared to various contents and education methods. In this study, we realized web-based item pool system which can remove the inefficiency of making duplicated and one-time used questions and which can manage and evaluate learners' achievements more efficiently. This program can give us quality improvement of remote education by raising efficiency of production with various pattern of paper making and item pool type management of items made and by executing high quality analysis with various pattern to the learner.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the 6 sigma technique in construction projects, and to review the possibility of 6 sigma introduction. DMAIC (Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology was used to increase the utilization of TIMS (Technology Information Management System). The results of this study were as follows. The introduction of the 6 sigma technique was very effective in the construction industry, but there were many difficulties in its application because of the characteristics of construction. As the 6 sigma technique emphasizes management based on data, it is essential to accumulate historical data and to achieve the standardization of the construction business process. Furthermore, it is necessary to apply 6 sigma for the competitiveness of the construction industry, and the development of suitable 6 sigma methodology for the construction industry is required.

  • IR(Institutional Repository) is an indispensable instrument for not only long time preservation of intellectual products but also for shifting commercial publishing company-dominated academic communication stream. In Korea, dCollection project of Ministry of education, science and technology has contributed on immediate, integrated circulation of distributed research products. dCollection is already one of the few integrating instrument for distributed academic resources, but it has not been university's voluntary instrument to announce their research accomplishments and to realize open access. On the other hand, Japanese government has promoted universities' IR operation through "Next generation infrastructure construction project." Even though distributing speed is relatively low, each university made ripe operating skill by their selves and realize its own purpose. This study comparatively analyzed policy and current status of Institutional Repository in Korea and Japan from various viewpoints. And also it proposed directions of development about Korean Institutional Repositories.

MPEG-21 Event Reporting Message Structure based on digital data broadcasting use case scenarios (디지털 데이터 방송 유즈케이스 시나리오에 기반한 MPEG-21 이벤트 리포팅 구조 설계)

  • In this paper, we present an Event Reporting which is one of the major items of MPEG-21 and exemplify two digital data broadcasting use case scenarios, and according1y we propose the Event Reporting message structure for MPEG-21 broadcasting contents that is based on these use case scenarios. Every interaction with a Digital Item in the multimedia framework can be called an Event. The need to standardize Event Reporting within the Multimedia Framework arise from the need to monitor and communicate amongst Peers and Users the Events relating to Digital Items and/or the programs and devices that operate on them at any given time. However, there are a number of difficulties in providing an accurate report about an Event. Different observers of the Event may have vastly different perspectives. In this paper, we describe a structure and vision of the Event Reporting. Besides we show the activities on MPEG-21 Event Reporting standardization.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness and necessity of improvement for the currently implemented education and training in order to cultivate and secure excellent construction engineers of domestic construction companies, and to suggest future improvement measures. The conclusions obtained through this study are as follows. The overall satisfaction of construction engineers at the construction site was high, and it was found to be effective in improving job skills, but the educational content, educational methods, and educational environment need to be improved. In order to improve the educational content, it is urgent to introduce a practical-oriented educational curriculum to respond to technological development. In order to increase the educational effect of online education methods, it is very important to develop excellent educational content. In order to improve the educational environment, it is necessary to expand customized practice spaces, establish educational facilities by region, and operate shuttle buses.

A study on Satisfaction with Treatment in Medically vulnerable areas based on DRM (DRM기반 의료취약지 진료만족도 조사 연구)

  • A policy is needed to provide appropriate medical services to rural residents living in medically vulnerable areas and to resolve imbalances in health and medical resources through this. In general, a survey method is used to secure medical services to the residents, and a security policy is needed to distribute and collect the questionnaire type and personal information between the investigator and the participant as digital contents. The proposed thesis introduces DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology as a way to safely manage the questionnaire type of the investigator and the personal information of the participants, and improves the problem that the existing License Server issues, renews, and cancels licenses to all domains. In order to do this, it provides convenience to the DRM-based survey policy that only DMs bundled with the family domain performs license management after the certificate is issued.
