To get vibration responses, a camshaft is modelled as an unbalanced multiple rotor bearing system. Because of complex geometry and complicated load conditions, the finite element method is used. After the finite element equation of the system is constructed, Newmark's method is used to get the vibration responses. Whirl vibration responses of a V-8 engine camshaft are estimated and compared with measured responses. After the fluctuating stresses are obtained, fatigue analysis is performed based upon the modified Goodman's equation. Stress concentration effects are considered. In the whirl vibration of camshafts, the bending effect is dominant, and the bending deformation is dependent upon the span length between the adjacent bearing journals. For high speeds, the fluctuations of excitation forces are large, and it is known that nonlinear time varying bearing coefficients should be used for analysis.

A dynamic model of direct-acting OHC valve train system has been used to determine the load conditions in the system. The modified equations for calculating the friction forces between cam and HLA, and at a camshaft bearing have been defined considering the lubrication conditions. Then, to understand the frictional characteristics in the system, a parameter study has been performed. As the results of the analysis, valve spring stiffness and preload have great effects on the friction in the system, but the effects of other parameters are negligible. So, how to design the valve train system with respect to the reduction of friction is to minimize the valve spring stiffness and preload in the limit of satisfying the dynamic constraints.

This paper introduces the development of the analysis and design program of valve train system. In order to verify the stability of design and improve the performance of system efficiently, it is required that integrated and interactive simulation program. The presented program is developed in the base of the object-oriented, capsulation, modulization, OLE (objected linking and embedding) and various design theory. It contains the expandability and flexibility of the structure. In addition to that, it is programmed to make the convenient user interface by using the visualization programming. This program can support the modification of the valve element as well as the development of the valve train system in the beginning of design. It is expected to save the cost and time for the design of valve train system.

This study investigates the fatigue life and the damage possibility of cam shaft by the fatigue tool of Ansys. Among nonconstant fatigue loads, the case of 'SAE Bracket History' which is severest at the variation of load tends to be most unstable. The maximum relative damage in case of 'SAE Bracket History' is occurred near the average stress '0' and this case can be shown to have the possibility to take more damage than other cases. The case of 'Sample History' which becomes a little slow at the variation of load tends to be most stable. But there is most damaged possibility of 5% as 7 times at the range of mean stress from 0Pa to -104MPa and amplitude stress from 0MPa to 104MPa than the case of 'SAE Bracket History' or 'SAE Transmission'.

This paper focused on the dynamic behavior of camshaft in a direct acting type valve train system. To investigate camshaft behavior, transient vibration analysis is performed by using the transfer matrix method. The camshaft is treated as a lumped mass system supported by spring and damper, From the presented analytical model, we could predict dynamic behavior of camshaft, shaft locus within bearing and bearing load. The presented model and results will be very helpful to design the optimal camshaft and valve train system.

In this paper, We have studied internal quality incluiding chemical compositions, microscopic structure and nonmetalic inclusion of test material. We have analyzed dynamic characteristics of cutting resistence and compared chip treatment of the test material. In analyzing internal quality, all of the test material have typical ferrite+pearlite structure. But, nonmetallic inclusion has oxide and sulfide inclusion has oxide and sulfide inclusion in medium carbon steel, mainly sulfide inclusion is existed in S-free cutting steel. In Ca+S-free cutting steel, calcium aluminate and sulfide complex inclusion, had low-melting point, as deformation of sulfide and oxide inclusion is existed. Machining characteristics, cutting resistence is maximum in medium carbon steel. Chip treatement are excellent in S-free cutting steel, similar to the Ca+S free cutting steel and medium carbon steel.
This paper is a purpose to Analyze and study the failure examples for a engine oil leakage of camshaft bearing seal, poor contact by computer connector fin damage and vaporizer inferiority on LPG automotive. The first example, when the researcher disassembled the cylinder head of engine to establish the cause for oil leakage, he confirmed the engine oil leakage by damaged between the engine intake camshaft bearing and seal part. The second example, the connector fin of power source line that control the starting of a car supplied with engine computer. As a result, it found the fact that the engine operation stopped because of cutting of the power source by connector fin damage. The third example, it verified the engine incongruity phe cutting of the power source by connector fin damage. The third example, it verified the engine incongruity phenomenon as thd gas didn't flow the vaporizer by foreign substance deposit. Finally, it supplied a small quantity gas from vaporizer to mix. As the computer controlling mix opening condition supplied a air as opening signal, the air and fuel became rarefied state. it knew that the engine didn't produce prpper power. Therefore, a car have to throughtly inspect not in order to arise the failure symptoms.
The common rail diesel engine used in this study uses mechanically driven camshaft for the operation of intake and exhaust valves, and the timing of valve opening and closing is fixed according to the operating conditions of the vehicle. However, the electric generator engine operates at a constant speed and partial load. Therefore, in order to optimize the design of common rail diesel engine for power generation, the characteristics of diesel combustion and emissions according to the change of valve timing were examined and calculated in terms of fuel economy. The valve timing of the diesel engine influenced the combustion characteristics by changing the intake and exhaust flow and it was considered that the fuel efficiency of the generator could be improved.

In order to meet the current emission regulations (EURO-6), it is necessary to significantly reduce $CH_4$ and $NO_X$ emissions. This study investigated the effect of a reduction in the valve overlap on the combustion and emission characteristics of a hydrogen-compressed natural gas engine under a part-load operating condition. The combustion and emission characteristics were analyzed for each fuel using the original camshaft and an altered camshaft with reduced valve overlap. The results showed that the thermal efficiency was decreased and the fuel flow was increased when using the altered camshaft. The $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ emissions were increased as a result of the reduced thermal efficiency. Under lean operating conditions, the $NO_X$ emission was decreased compared with one of the conventional camshaft. Thus, under the same fuels and operating conditions, it had a harmful influence on the emission characteristics and thermal efficiency.

Metal Powder Metallurgy is a manufacturing technology that makes unique model parts or a certain type of product by using a hardening phenomenon when a powder of metal or metal oxide is put it into a mold and compression-molded by a press and then heated and sintered at a high temperature. Powder metallurgical press equipment is mainly used to make the parts of automobile, electronic parts and so on, and most of them are manufactured using precise servo motor. The intelligent precision servo control powder molding press system which is designed and implemented in this paper has advantages of lowering the price and maintaining the precision by using the mechanical camshaft for the upper ram part and precisely controlling the lower ram part using the high precision servo system. In addition, OPC-based monitoring and process data collection systems are designed and implemented to provide scalability that can be applied to smart manufacturing management systems that utilize Big Data in the future.
