Objectives : This study is to report the effect of Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture on two patients suffering from the pain of popliteal part. Methods : We treated the patients with the pain of popliteal part by acupuncture according to meridian(Taeyang and Soyang-Meridian), and we injected 0.1${\sim}$0.2cc of Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture to his pain site. And then we evaluated their pain by VAS(Visual Analog Scale). Results : 1. A combined treatment-Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture and Acupucture- had a very excellent effect on relieving pain of popliteal part originated from trigger point and referred pain of Popliteus or Biceps Femoris. 2. It appears that Scolopendrid Pharmacopuncture is very effective against trigger point of muscle and pain site fixed.

Objective : This study is to investigate the effect of 8 Constitution Acupuncture on allergic rhinitis patients Methods : We treated 3 allergic rhinitis patients diagnosed as Colonotonia with 8 Constitution Acupuncture by dry needle. The degree of improvement was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) Results & Conclusions : After taking 8 Constitution Acupuncture sessions, the symptoms of allergic rhinitis was improved. After 8 Constitution Diet, the effect of therapy was lingered. This study shows that the allergic rhinitis can possibly be treated not only with herb medicine, but also with acupuncture and diet.

A 2.9 kg, eight-year-old Yorkshire terrier bitch with anorexia and vomiting for 2 weeks was referred to the Seoul National University Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. The bitch was diagnosed as open cervix pyometra by clinical sign, radiography, ultrasonography and complete blood count. The owner didn't want surgery. So, we chose the electroacupuncture and antibiotics treatment. Electroacupuncture treatment was performed for 15 days at Zi-Gong-Shu and Luan-Chao-Shu acupoints with electrical stimulus at the frequency of 5 Hz, 2~4 volts and for 20 minutes twice a day and ciprofloxacin (5 mg/kg, IM) was administered once a day. At 15 days after treatment diameter of the uterus was contracted to 6.9 mm and total WBC count was 8.5$\times$10$^3$/㎣, progesteron concentration was 0.24 ng/dl and clinical signs including vaginal discharge were disappeared. The first estrus was detected 5 months after the last treatment. With this results, the electroacupuncture for canine open cervix pyometra was considered to be the useful alternative treatment.

Objectives : To review and summarize the existing evidence on acupuncture treatment for cancer and cancer related symptoms. Methods: Literature searches were made through domestic and international databases. Data were extracted according to pre-defined criteria. The methodological quality was assessed using the Modified Jadad scale. Results: Seven studies were included. Two of the studies were high in methodological quality. One study concerning acupuncture treatment for cancerous dyspnea reported insignificant differences between the treatment group and placebo group. The other study concerning auricular acupuncture for cancer related pain showed significant pain relief compared with the control group. All the other studies were non-blinded or uncontrolled trials. Conclusion : The hypothesis that acupuncture may be effective for the treatment of cancer is not supported by the data in recent clinical trials. More accurately designed randomized control trials (RCT) are needed.

Objectives: This sutdy aims to research the trend of the studies related with acupuncture treatment of asthma. Methods: We searched the electronic database and reviewed ReT studies comparing the effect of sham and real acupuncture published after 2000 Results: We selected eight articles. Effectiveness of asthma acupuncture treatment was generally insufficient. Three articles reported acupuncture to be effective in subjective symptoms and quality of life. Other three articles reported that acupucture treatment was moderately effective but, insignificant compared to sham acupuncture treatment. Some articles reported that acupucture treatment was significant in the decrease of drug dosage and immunologic regulation. Conclusion : For the study on acupuncture treatments in asthma, it is necessary that we conduct research on the various natures of acupuncture. More clinical data would be needed to prove the effects of acupuncture treatment in asthma.

Objective: To report the case of a patient suffering from Broca’s aphasia after cerebral infarction, which was improved by Korean medical treatments, especially five-element acupuncture.Methods: To relievesymptoms, Korean medicine treatments such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and herb medication were performed. To evaluate the effect of the treatments, articulation accuracy, vowel accuracy, and the sequential motion rate of articulator were checked.Result: After treatments for 28 days, the symptoms were improved.Conclusion: This report suggests that five-element acupuncture can be effectively used for patients with Broca’s aphasia after cerebral infarction.

The multiple acupuncture techniques have been used to relieve the pain of lateral ankle sprain. Recently, early functional rehabilitation is emphasized in rehabilitative concepts using active ROM, facilitated proprioception, alphabet exercise and so forth. Similarly, in oriental rehabilition medicine, traditional movement technique called 'Dong-Ki' has been used to relieve pain of ankle sprain. So we used 'Dong-Ki' technique with SSP(silver spike point) electrotherapy transformed from alphabet exercise and evaluated the effects in method of randomized controlled trials. 27 outpatients with lateral ankle sprains were randomized into two groups : 15 samples and 12 controls. Sample group was treated with 'Dong-Ki' technique(writing his name with foot) with SSP electrotherapy to relieve pain during additionally. 'Dong-Ki'. Outcomes were measured by 10cm VAS and ankle circumference(cm). In terms of VAS, Sample group had inclination of pain relieving but not significantly meaningful. In terms of ankle circumference measurement, Sample group showed significantly improved.

A clinical analysis was carried out for 37 patients who was treated for functional headache with HWANGRYUNHAEDOKTANG(黃連解毒湯) herb-acupuncture in Seoul Red-Cross Oriental Hospital. The results were as follows; 1. The effect of HWANGRYUNHAEDOKTANG(黃連解毒湯) herb-acupuncture for functional headache was turned out to be better effective the young and middle age than the old. 2. Man was better effective than woman 3. There were effective at tention headache and migraine. 4. There were effective within 6 monthes from onset. 5. There were availability in according with increasing treatment. Through the clinical consequences of therapy mentioned above, we came to confirm regular therapeutic effects for functional headache and hereafter, it is considered that a clinical comparative study on oriental cure and herb-acupuncture therapy for headache has to be more progressed than now.

Objectives The study was conducted to evaluate the recent treatment and study trends of tic disorder by reviewing domestic and international randomized controlled studies. Methods The acupuncture treatment on tic disorder randomized control study articles (published by June 10th, 2016) were selected from seven academic literature archives; NDSL, OASIS, KTKP, Pubmed, J-STAGE, CNKI, and CINAHL. Results Ten articles were identified after searching. These studies were analyzed by year, diagnostic criteria, intervention, evaluation criteria, treatment points, treatment effect, treatment duration, and 'Risk of Bias' assessment. Conclusions According to the articles, acupuncture was effective in treating tic disorder. However, additional well-designed randomized controlled studies will be required to justify the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment on tic disorder.
