We try to look for optimum conditions of pre-reductants like L-Cysteine, KI and $FeSO_4$ when analyzing inorganic arsenic by using hydride generation-atomic absorption spectrometry, and run a comparative study of effect in the analysis of them. Also, we separated and analyzed only inorganic arsenic by using $H_2SO_4$-trap to eliminate organic arsenic which are MMA(monomethylarsonate) and DMA(dimethylarsinate). Under the conditions of mixture acid of 1.8 M HCl and 0.08 M $HNO_3$, arsenic standard solution of 20 ppb have more higher absorbance than without adding acid. In case of L-Cysteine, As(V) completely reduces into As(III) when 0.5 g of L-Cysteine is reacted more than 30 mins. in weak acid condition of approximately 0.07 M $HNO_3$ or HCl. In the event of KI, As(V) completely reduces into As(III) when 3 g of KI is reacted more than 1hour in acid condition of 0.8 M $HNO_3$. On the occasion of $FeSO_4$, the inside of tube is blocked by precipitation by mixture reaction of $NaBH_4$ and $Fe^{2+}$, therefore, comparing to other pre-reductants, reproducibility of efficiency of reducing As(V) to As(III) is low. To evaluate the accuracy of the analytical results, we use NIST SRM 1643C Trace Elements in Water ($82.1{\pm}1.2ng/mL$). The results are satisfactory.
This review article summarizes the recent progress of quantum dot (QD)-sensitized solar cells based on mesoporous $TiO_2$ thin films. From the intrinsic characteristics of nanoscale inorganic QDs with various compositions, it was possible to construct a variety of 3rd-generation thin film solar cells by solution process. Depending on preparation methods, colloidal QD sensitizers are pre-prepared for later deposition onto the surface of $TiO_2$ or in-situ deposition of QDs from chemical bath is done for direct growth of QD sensitizers over substrates. Recently, colloidal QD sensitizers have shown an overall power conversion efficiency of ~7% by a very precise control of composition while a representative CdS/CdSe from chemical bath deposition have done ~5% with polysulfide electrolytes. In the near future, it is necessary to carry out systematic investigations for developing new hole-conducting materials and controlling interfaces within the cell, thus leading to an enhancement of both open-circuit voltage and fill factor while keeping the current high value of photocurrents from QDs towards more efficient and stable QD-sensitized solar cells.
A crystalline alkaline pretense- producing Streptomyce sp. YSA-130 was isolated from soil in alkaline medium(pH 10.5). The optimum culture condition of Streptomyce sp. YSA-130 for the production of alkaline protease was as follows; 2.0% soluble starch, 1.0% soytone, 0.3% $K_2$HPO$_4$, 0.02% MgSO$_4$.7$H_2O$, 0.8% Na$_2$CO$_3$, pH 10.5, 3$0^{\circ}C$, and 12 hr. The alkaline pretense from the culture broth of Streptomyce sp. YSA-130 was purified about 24 folds by ammonium sulfate precipitation , dialysis, DEAE-cellulose ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration on Sephadex G-15 and crystallization. Optimum temperature and pH of purified enzyme were 6$0^{\circ}C$, and 11.5. Temperature and pH stability of purified enzyme were 5$0^{\circ}C$, and 5.5-12.0. Calcium ion was effective to stabilize the enzyme at higher temperature. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was approximately 30,000. The purified enzyme was inactivated by diisopropyl flurophosphate(DFP) but not affected by metal ion, EDTA, sulfhydryl reagent and stable detergent.
The Mireuksaji stone pagoda in Iksan is the largest stone pagoda existing in Eastern Asia. It was assumed that originally it had been established in the shape of nine-storied pagoda but as time went by only six-storied pagoda remained partially due to collapsing, repair and reconstruction. According to the reference, we can't make sure when its modification happened. The form that the pagoda is having now, was modified with concrete by the Japanese during the 1910s. The materials mixed in concrete were mixture of Portland cement, all sorts of stone, sand, and a little bit of new building stone, additive and compound. And also these materials were applied to cultural assets without any experiment at the time of 1910s as maintenance, which are still used recently. To prevent the change of its shape, the west side, south side and the north side which is partially destructed was rebuilt and reinforced with concrete and some of the deformed parts were also filled. The amounts of concrete used were about 200 tons. Such method had prevented the pagoda from destructing, however, by choosing a wrong repair method, its surface of the stone has secondary contaminants and precipitation caused by concrete. This kind of contamination speeds up the weathering which accelerates the aging mechanism of the stone to make it even harder to revive the absence of historical nature. Therefore, we are to find the best cleaning method to remove the secondary hazard contaminants.
Among 12 kinds of ginsenosides in ginseng saponin, ginsenoside-Rb$_1$was contained the most abundantly. But ginsenoside-Rd which is similar to ginsenoside-Rb$_1$in structure, was known to be superior to ginsenoside-Rb$_1$pharmaceutically. In order to convert ginsenoside-Rb$_1$into ginsenoside-Rd by microbial enzyme treatment, a Rhizopus sp. was selected among various strais of molds found in rotten ginseng roots. Enzyme was prepared from the extract of wheat bran koji culture by ammonium sulfate precipitation (1.0 sat'd) and succeeding ammonium sulfate fractionation method (0.6-0.9 sat'd). For the purpose of use as substrate, saponins were purified by the several purification steps from alcohol extract of red ginseng roots. We obtained the total saponin which was composed of 36.5% of ginsenoside Rb$_1$, 12.2% of ginsenoside-Rd and other ginsenosides. For increase of ginsenoside-Rb$_1$ component ratio, we also obtained further purified ginsenoside-Rb group saponin containing 54.5% of ginsenoside-Rb$_1$, 1.1% of ginsenoside- Rd and other ginsenosides from purified the total saponin. In the enzymatic reaction system including the total saponin or the ginsenoside-Rb group saponin, we confirmed the specific conversion of ginsenoside-Rb$_1$to ginsenoside-Rd proportionally and no change of any other ginsenoside patterns by thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography.

To utilize the oyster shell containing a lot of calcium, we investigated the bioavailability of calcium compounds from oyster shell. First, calcium oxide was prepared by burning of oyster shell at $1200^{\circ}C$. Its purity was approximately $98.5\%$. Calcium compounds, $CaCl_2$, and $CaHPO_4$, from the calcium oxide were prepared by chemical reaction. Effect on calcium absorption by the calcium compounds from oyster shell was improved using fish skin gelatin peptides.(FSGP), which was prepared by enzymatic hydrolysis of fish skin gelatin for 4hr with tuna pyloric caeca crude enzyme (TPCCE). in vitro experiment, calcium absorption by addition of FSGP in a mixture solution of calcium and phosphate was higher approximately $70\%$ than that by control. in vivo using calcium deficient rats, a group taken the diets with $3\%$ FSGP and $CaHPO_4$ was significantly improved amount of calcium and ash in femur and strength of femur. These results suggest that calcium compounds from oyster shell and FSGP could be used as an effective dietary calcium source.

Recycling technologies would be required in consideration of increasing demand in lithium ion batteries (LIBs). In this study, the leaching behavior of Ni, Co and Mn is investigated with ammoniacal medium for spent cathode active materials, which are separated from a commercial LIB pack in hybrid electric vehicles. The leaching behavior of each metal is analyzed in the presence of reducing agent and pH buffering agent. The existence of reducing agent is necessary to increase the leaching efficiency of Ni and Co. The leaching of Mn is insignificant even with the existence of reducing agent in contrast to Ni and Co. The most conspicuous difference between acid and ammoniacal leaching would be the selective leaching behavior between Ni/Co and Mn. The ammoniacal leaching can reduce the cost of basic reagent that makes the pH of leachate higher for the precipitation of leached metals in the acid leaching.

A fibrinolytic enzyme producing Bacillus sp. J-19 was isolated from the popular Korean seasoning, pickled anchovy. The fibrinolytic enzyme was purified to homogeneity by chromatographic methods including ethanol precipitation and gel-filtration using Sephadex G-50. Compared to the crude enzyme extract, the specific activity of the enzyme increased 1021-fold with a recovery of 23%. The purified enzyme was estimated to be approximately 45 kDa by SDS-PAGE. Especially, the amidolytic activity in the presence of the synthetic substrate for serine protease (H-D-Ile-Pro-Arg-pNA, S-2288) represented approximately 17 U/mg. In addition, more than the 60% activity of the 45 kDa fibrinolytic activity was maintained in the presence of up to 30% (w/v) sodium chloride. These findings could provide a unique fibrinolytic enzyme, leading to a potential thrombolytic agent.

Experiments in a pilot-scale hybrid multi-stage unit system (HMUS) combination of ATAD and EGSB followed by SBR process for pig slurry treatment were conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of using autothermal thermophilic aerobic digestion (ATAD) and expended granular sludge bed (EGSB) followed by sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. Contaminants in pig slurry with high organic matter, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) content were completely removed in the combined process. The highest removal rate for CODcr among contaminants in the feed pig slurry was attained by about 43.3% in ATAD unit process. Also TS removal rate of 96.5% was attained and the highest in the next coagulation unit process. The highest removal rate of CODcr under operating parameter conditions of OLR(organic loading rate), 3-6Kg $COD/m^3{\cdot}day$ and line velocity, 1.5-4m/h was earned at 3days of HRT. The disinfection of pathogens was effective at 50,000mg/L of TS in ATAD unit process. Biogas production per organic removal was $2.3{\sim}8.5m^3/kgTS{\cdot}d$ (average $5.2m^3/kgTS{\cdot}d$) in EGSB unit process. The average removal rates of CODcr 71.7%, TS 64.1%, TN 45.9%, and TP 50.4% were earned in the intermittent aeration SBR unit process.

The fiber wall filling(FWF) technology, which is based on Precipitatin of fillers in the micropores of the cell wall structure of never-dried chemical pulp fiber, has been developed to improve filling and loading process in papermaking. In presenting FWF technique here, micropores of pulp fiber are first impregnated with an ionic solution of water soluble salt and consecutively impregnated with the second salt solution. This procedure generates an insoluble precipitate within the micropores of cell wall by chemical interaction of these two ionic salt solutions This is the first attempts to use FWF technology for the quality of waste paper grade which is recycled in papermaking, even though this FWF technology has been impressively improved for never-dried chemical pulp in filling and loading process of papermaking. The precipitated amount of CaCO$_3$ and SrCO$_3$ reached 5-6% and 4-5% of the waste paper weight respectively, which was measured by ash content of the burned waste paper fiber. On the other way the precipitated amounts of those materials impregnated into never-dried chemical pulp fiber have reached 17-18% and 16-18% respectively. The micropore loading technique gives optical and physical properties to the handsheets formed with celt-wall-filled fibers which are better than those handsheet properties resulting from conventional loading. The papers made from the cell-wall-filled pulps are stronger than those with the customary location of filler between the fibers.
