Transhumanism and Life-World: From the Perspective of Husserl's Phenomenology (트랜스휴머니즘과 생활세계: 후설 현상학의 관점에서)

  • With the dramatic development of science and technology since the twentieth century, attempts to overcome human's natural and physical limitations through technology have actually reached a peak. Transhumanism is a movement that strongly affirms these human technological attempts. However, this optimistic belief of transhumanism in technology meets the strong resistance of opponents contending that transhumanism might destroy human nature and severely undermine human values and rights. The focus of the transhumanism debate lies in what technology means to humans. However, in order to exactly grasp the essence of transhumanism, we should first consider our 'life-world', where technology and humans are closely intertwined. The word 'life-world(Lebenswelt)' which originally comes from Husserl, is an open and universal world as a horizon that is the basis of all human practical activities and at the same time encompasses its products in itself. According to Husserl, the process of incorporating human products into the life-world is a kind of 'familiarization' process through which specific theories and techniques are harmonized with our lives in the life-world. Such harmonization and familiarization of technology could be also considered a humanization of technology. It is a process in which technology is assimilated and corresponds to the finiteness of human and the life-world. In this sense, we could say that the transhumanistic attempts are just a natural expression of human desire to be perfect in the life-world and that they should not be overly concerned or overestimated.

  • Wal-Mart, Carrfour, Makro, Tesco, Costco... 언뜻 보기에는 세계적 유통업체의 순위를 나열한 것 같지만, 실은 국내 영업을 통해 이미 친숙해진 브랜드들이다. 국제화가 기업의 시장확장 전략의 하나라고는 하지만, 5-6년 새에 국내 유통 시장이 이러한 세계적 업체들의 각축장이 되었다는 사실은 여러 가지를 의미한다. 논의의 포커스는 먼저 이들 업체들이 진입하기 위한 충분 조건 즉, 국내 시장의 매력도에 맞춰질 수도 있고, 또 다른 시각에서는 왜 이러한 업체들이 시장확장을 해야만 했는가의 관점, 즉 필요조건에 포인트를 둘 수도 있다. 실제로 지금까지 진행된 소매 기업의 국제화 전개에 대한 논의는 대부분이 이와 같은 범주에서 양자를 모두 다루는 형태로 이루어졌다. 그러나, 국내 소매시장이 어떻게 국제화의 길을 걷게 되었는가를 살펴보는 본고는 후자인 필요조건 쪽 논의에 초점을 맞추고자한다.(중략)

  • The area of informatization in small business industry consists of production automation. management automation, and network. This paper mainly deals with the management automation which uses management information systems. Functionally speaking, there are four broad categories such as manufacturing, marketing. human resource, and accounting. However, since most of small business industries emphasize more on the manufacturing and marketing, an integrated information system with these two core processes has been developed based on object-oriented methodology. The system, one of the important steps in the stage model this paper proposes, has not only simple and essential features ensuring easy implementation, but also friendly interface and good modularity based on the object-oriented paradigm.

  • 대중을 대상으로 한 과학정보의 연계체계를 구축하면서 과학분야별, 기관단체별 보유 과학대중화 자료(문헌, 영상, 음성자료)를 조사 및 목록화하고 한국과학문화재단 보유 자료를 포함한 각 기관-단체 발간 문헌자료를 디지털화 시키면서, 기존의 TEXT 위주의 DB에서 사용자가 보다 쉽고 친숙하게 정보를 이용할 수 있도록 DB를 멀티미디어화하여 구축 하므로써 기존의 TEXT 위주의RDB를 택하지 않고, ORDB를 지원하는DBMS중 개발과 운영 및 타DB와 호환이 용이한 DBMS를 도입함으로써 과학분야별로 일반인이 이해하기 쉬운 형태의 자료(텍스트 및 디지털 영상, 음성, 애니메이션, 가상실험등)를 활용한 분야 소개 정보를 구축했다.

A Study on the Effect of Ratification of the Cape Town Agreement on Korean Deep-Sea Fishing Vessels (우리나라 원양어선의 케이프 타운 협정 비준 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Deep-sea fisheries in Korea play an essential role in supplying popular seafood and providing food security. Countries, as well as the IMO (International Maritime Organization), have attempted to establish an internationally harmonized safety standard for fishing vessels. However, starting with the adoption of 'The Torremolinos International Convention for the Safety of Fishing Vessel 1977', the '2012 Cape Town Agreement' was adopted, but the requirements for enforcement were not met. However, with the 2019 Torremolinos Declaration, the effect of the agreement became visible. Korea is also about to ratify the agreement, and deep-sea fishing vessels are subject to the agreement. The length of the hull or the gross tonnage can be selected as the criteria for applying the 2012 Cape Town Agreement, and this is also partially applied to the existing vessels. Analyzing 188 deep-sea fishing vessels registered as members of the Korea Overseas Fisheries Association to confirm the effect on the existing vessels showed that the application of gross tonnage had little impact on the ratification of the agreement. In addition, laws must be revised for the compulsorization of GMDSS facilities such as two-way VHF and radar transponders and for the safety familiarization of fishermen. In the industry, the facilities required by the agreement must be provided, and the fishermen must be familiarized with safety.

  • 중장년층의 스마트폰 사용 인구가 증가하고 있다. 중장년층 사용자는 피쳐폰과 달리 스마트폰 환경에 어려움을 느낀다. 그러므로 이들에게 친숙하며 대부분 규칙을 알고 있는 한국전통게임 윷놀이를 중장년층의 선호 모바일 플랫폼인 안드로이드에서 구현해본다. 게임 개발 도구는 최근 무료화되었으며 모바일 게임 환경에 최적화된 Unity 5를 기반으로 한다. 본 게임은 중장년층 사용자에게 직관적 UI, 간단한 규칙을 제공하여 이들의 안드로이드 플랫폼과 모바일 게임에 친숙함을 느낄 수 있도록 기여한다.

  • As the structure and operation method of MASS(Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship) are discussed accroding to the IMO degree, the interest and necessity for remote operators who manage and supervise the operation of MASS are increasing gradually. The form of MASS operation is clearly accompanied by various changes including new technologies and equipment in comparison with the current operation of ship. In IMO Degree 2 and 3, the capabilities that remote operators who will operate them must differ from those of existing seafarers(navigation officers, engineers and ratings). Regarding this remote operation, the NI(Nautical Institute) is the first in the world to present a syllabus and a curriculum of qualification for remote operator. Based on this, the paper introduces and compares the education model of MASS remote control operation and NI model, and further uses it as basic data for the creation of curriculum for future MASS remote operator.

Point Symbols on Tourist Maps: Cognitive Characteristics with Levels of Symbolization and Preference (관광지도 점기호의 상징수준과 선호도에 나타난 인지특성 연구)

  • This research deals with cognitive characteristics of point symbols on the current tourist maps in terms of the communication theory in considering levels of symbolization and those of preference. The levels of symbolization are examined on the basis of the meaning of point symbols between map-makers and map-users. Preferences of point symbols are investigated by the tourist objects. As a result, when point symbols are expressed in conciseness, the meaning and interpretation about those symbols are highly accorded. And the point symbols that have familiarity by visual experience are preferred. Also, the higher symbolical levels symbols have, the more likely they are preferred. Through that fact, familiarity from the visual experience, conciseness in expression, concreteness of figures expressed in maps, and representativeness of visualized properties were deduced as factors that affect preferences. Those factors work to affect preference complicatedly, but familiarity is prior to simplicity in preferences. Likewise, ways that visualize information, contents that are expressed as images and familiarity in terms of cognitive characteristics make a relative difference in preferences and the levels of symbolization. On the basis of those cognitive characteristics, visual complexity and ambiguity should be removed and the higher symbolical level of point symbols for efficiency of map-reading should be developed.

  • This study is to suggest the usefulness of visualization techniques to display web retrieval results. We described the concept of visualization techniques and evaluated the usability for the SearchCrystal and KartOO search engines which provide visualization techniques for displaying the retrieval results. As a result, Searchcrystal search engine had higher score than KartOO system in terms of usability check lists.

  • Modularity has merits in modifiability of product structure management and product arrangement. This feature helps consumer to expand the selection of products and to get customized products. Also consumers are drive satisfaction and reduce a post-purchase dissonance from role in a 'prosumer'. But expanding product's alternative would cause the overload confusion by rising complexity of information handling. Purpose of the study is to verify how interaction about option size and personal disposition are effected consumer's overload confusion. For this purpose we deducted 3 personal dispositions 'Regulatory focus', 'Product familiarity', 'Self-efficacy' that presented lead to potential effect of personal information handling by previous research. By statistical inquiry prevent focus group had perceived more overload confusion than promotion focus group in an expanding option size circumstances. And low Product familiarity and Self-efficacy group had perceived more overload confusion than high Product familiarity and Self-efficacy group in a expanding option size circumstances.
