Surface Modification of Polypropylene by Low Temperature Plasma Polymerization( I ) ―hydrophilicity― (저온 Plasma 중합에 의한 Polypropylene의 표면 개질 (I) -친수성-)

  • This research was attempted to improve the hydrophilicity of polypropylene(PP) by using low temperature plasma polymerization of acrylic acid(AA) as a starting material. The results of the present study were as follows: The PP films deposited with AA plasma polymer showed excellent hydrophilicity, that the polar parts were about 20 dyn/cm, and also that the surface tensions were about 55 dyn/cm, whereas the disperse parts were not changed. Work of adhesions of the PP films deposited with AA plasma polymer were above 100 erg/ $cm^{2}$. AA plasma polymer formed by low temperature plasma polymerization of acrylic acid(AA) was even thin layer which contained many -OH groups.

  • Swelling and subsequent deformation of membranes by water wetting are regarded as a prime drawback of hydrophilic polyurethane breathable film. Fluoroalkylated surface was prepared by reacting the film with hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI) and 2-perfluorohexyl ethanol. IR spectra and XPS results showed that the fluoroalkyl group was successfully introduced to the film surface with hexamethylene linkage. Water contact angle was increased from $68.7^{\circ}$ up to $144.2^{\circ}$ with the degree of fluoroalkylation. Decrease in water-vapor permeability was minimized even for the film of highest fluoroalkylation.

  • Recently, an energy-saving due to the energy utilisation efficiency enhancement is important. In order to improve the heat efficiency of the general residential boiler, We performed an experiment of condensation heat transfer to air pre-heat exchanger adhered to the condensing boiler. In this research, We analyze the heat transfer performance through the hydrophilic surface treatment(plasma, etching). The results of the research, On plasma and etching treated surface, Overall heat transfer coefficient is displayed the tendency to increase.

Wetting Characteristic of Single Droplet Impinging on Hole-Patterned Texture Surfaces (홀 패턴 텍스쳐 표면에서 충돌하는 단일 액적의 젖음 특성)

  • This study presents the dynamic wetting characteristics of an impact droplet on hole-patterned textured surfaces. The flat surfaces were manufactured by a drilling machine to generate the micro-order holes, leading to make the surface hydrophobic. Other flat surfaces were fabricated by the anodizing technique to make hydrophilic texture surfaces with a nanometer order. For hydrophilic and hydrophobic textured surfaces with similar texture area fractions, the impinging droplet experiments were conducted and compared with flat surface cases. As results, an anodized textured surface decreases apparent equilibrium contact angle and increases contact diameters, because of increase in contact area and surface energy. This is attributed to more penetration inside holes from larger capillary pressure on nanometer-order holes. On the other hand, temporal evolution of the contact diameter is smaller for the hydrophobic textured surface from less penetration on the micro-order holes.

  • 섬유 강화 고분자 복합재료에서 강화재인 섬유와 매트릭스의 계면은 복합재료의 물성에 지대한 영향을 미친다. 섬유와 매트릭스의 물성 차이 즉, 탄성율, 열팽창 계수, 경화시의 수축, 결정화도 등의 차이뿐만 아니라 하중이 가해질 때 응력 집중 (stress concentration) 현상이 계면에서 일어난다[1]. 유리섬유를 강화재로 사용한 복합재료에서 유리섬유는 표면이 hydroxyl기로 덮여 있기 때문에 친수성이 매우 크고 또한 마찰이나 정전기에 의해 손상을 받기 쉬운 단점이 있다. 따라서 매트릭스 수지와의 계면 접착력을 향상시키고 제조 공정 중에 섬유를 마찰이나 정전기로부터 보호하기 위한 처리가 필요하며 이들 "sizing" 이라고 한다[2,3].고 한다[2,3].

  • 재료의 종류 및 특성에 따른 전기 반응 약물방출 특성을 확인하기 위하여 전압을 이용한 약물방출 시스템을 설계 하였으며 각각의 재료의 특성에 따른 약물방출 특성을 확인하였다. 약물방출은 활성탄소섬유에 친수성 관능기를 도입할 경우 방출되는 약물의 양이 37% 감소하였다. 한편 PVA에 카본블랙을 첨가하여 전도성을 향상 시킨 경우 11%의 약물만을 방출하던 PVA가 대부분의 약물(98%)을 방출하였다.

  • This study presents the dynamic characteristics of an impinging droplet on hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces with various texture area fractions. The flat surface was fabricated by using the drilling technique to make micro-meter hole-patterned surfaces, which shows hydrophobic textured surfaces. Moreover, the hydrophilic textured surfaces were manufactured by anodizing technique on the micro-meter hole-patterned surfaces to generate multi-layer surfaces. Impinging droplet experiments were conducted for various hole-patterned surfaces, with changing impact velocity and texture area fractions. It is observed that an anodizing technique increases wettability by decrease in hole diameter on the textured surfaces. However, micro-drilled surfaces decreases wettability because the hole diameter was so large that air can be trapped under the holes. In addition, the maximum spreading diameter decreases with the texture area fraction for the micro-drilled surfaces because of decrease in wettability.

  • 나노 크기의 공간에서의 물질의 이동은 표면의 환경에 의해 영향을 받을 수 있다. 소수성그래핀과 친수성 실리콘 기판 사이의 계면에서의 물의 확산은 호기심을 자극할 뿐만 아니라 그래핀 소자의 특성을 좌우하는 전하도핑(charge doping) 현상을 이해하는데 중요한 모델이 된다. 본 연구에서는 라만 분광법과 원자 힘 현미경을 사용하여 그래핀/SiO2 계면 사이의 물의 확산 현상과 그에 따른 정공 밀도 변화를 탐구하였다. 열처리 된 그래핀은 기판과의 상호 작용에 의해 높은 밀도의 정공(electron hole)으로 도핑 되어 있으며, 이를 물에 담지 하였다. 본 실험에서는 이차원 라만 분광법을 통해 물 속에 담겨진 그래핀의 정공 밀도의 공간적인 분포를 확산 시간에 따라 조사하였다. 물의 확산은 시료에 따라 수 시간에서 수 일의 시간대에 걸쳐 그래핀 가장자리에서 중앙으로 이루어진다는 사실을 확인하였다. 또한 물의 계면 확산으로 인하여 전하 밀도가 감소한다는 사실은 열처리 된 그래핀의 정공 도핑을 유발하는 산소가 계면에 존재한다는 것을 증명한다.

  • The soundproof barrier used to reduce the traffic and rail noise is usually designed to the point of view of the acoustic performance such as absorption ratio and transmission loss. But, because the surface of soundproof barrier is polluted by the air pollutant or discharge gas of automobiles, so it's surface cleary maintained by the periodic washing with detergent. But in this case the environmental pollution and the working expenses are worried. So, the objective of this study is to develope the soundproof panel with the self-cleaning properties only by raining.

The Effect of Water Contact Angles of the Fin Surfaces of the Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers on the Water Hold-up (핀-관 열교환기에서의 핀의 물 접촉각이 응축잔수량에 미치는 영향)

  • An experimental study on the behavior of the water hold-up by condensation of a fin-and-tube heat exchanger with regard to the surface characteristics, i.e., contact angle, was conducted. The static and dynamic contact angles were measured, and condensation experiments were conducted. Flow patterns on the fins with different surface characteristics were visualized. Results showed that the static contact angle is proportional to the dynamic contact angle within the range of this study. The water hold-up of the heat exchanger increases as the static or dynamic contact angle of its surfaces increases. Existence of transition of flow patterns was found as the static or dynamic angle increase. Due to the transition in the flow patterns, changes in the gradient of the water hold-up is occurred around the static angle of 8$0^{\circ}C$.
