Dental Office Manager Current Conditions by Scale of Korean Dental Clinic (치과병(의)원의 규모에 따른 중간관리자의 현황)

  • The present study examined factors for current conditions of dental office manager in Korean dental clinic. 108 randomly selected members of Korean dental office manager responded to a questionnaire. A survey was conducted for a month from 1, June 2008, and the chi-square test and ANOVA were used in the statistical analysis. The findings of the study were as follows: The number of members depending on the type of occupation dental hospital was the highest number of members, members of the dental hygienist at the dental hospital number significantly higher. The career of dental office manager followed by 1-5 year in dental hospital, 5-10 year in dental network, 1-5 year in dental clinic accounting for 48%, 52.9%, 69.4%. The difficulty during duty performance are high expectation of owner in dental hospital, learning of dental office manager duty in dental clinic. The duty of dental office manager followed by customer service, appointment scheduling, telephone etiquette, treatment plan. Henceforth, it needs to standardize the Korean name of dental office manager and duty. Also, it have to an official certification system.

Relationship between Degree of Clinical Satisfaction and Experience on Performance for Dental Hygiene Students (치위생(학)과 학생들의 임상만족도와 수행경험과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between degree of satisfaction and experience on performance in accordance with the characteristics for the dental hygiene students. Dental hygiene students to 480 people from November to December 2014 and analyzed by conducting a survey. The higher grade students were more satisfied with the degree of satisfaction on experience for clinical test performance and clinical practice organization rather than the lower grade students. Also, the degree of satisfaction on major for the higher grade students has been shown as relatively higher than the lower grade students. The factors that affecting the experience for clinical performance and the degree of satisfaction for clinical practice were shown as grade, satisfaction for major and period for practice. In order to enhance the degree of satisfaction on the clinical performance for students, it should be established the system for practice management considering the characteristics of clinical practice by relevant organizations. Also, the dental hygienist who is responsible for dental education should manage his/her practice for students actively. Meanwhile, the practice organization should improve and update the content of education through the consistent alliance with colleges continuously.

A Study on the Patient's Expectation Toward Quality Care of Dental Services (치과의료서비스 향상을 위한 환자 기대도 조사연구)

  • The objection of this present study are (1) measurement of patient's expectation toward quality care of dental services. (2) Analysis of differential expectation of dental service by the patient characteristics and (3) presentation of measurement implication for better dental service at the dental clinic. The data used in the study were collected from April 25 to June 9, 2001 and for 77 patients of university dental hospital and 102 patients of dental clinic. The study found, in general, that patient's expectation on the clinic environmental factor was most highly scored followed by dental human factors. The convenience of transportation from the patient's residence to the clinic was highly concerned as be an important factor in dental service utilization.

Convergent Relationship between Organizational commitment, Empowerment, Work Environment of Dental Hygienist (치과위생사의 조직몰입도, 내부역량, 근무환경의 융합적 관련성)

  • This study aims to measure between organizational commitment, empowerment and working environment of dental hygienists. The subjects of the study were surveyed by 245 dental hygienists in Daegu and some areas of Gyeongbuk from May 2019 to October 2019. Technical statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. The results of organizational commitment, empowerment and relevance to the working environment showed a positive correlation, indicating that the higher the organizational commitment among dental hygienists, the higher the individual's empowerment and the better the working environment. The medical institution has proposed measures to improve the empowerment and organizational commitment of dental hygienists, and suggests the need to develop programs to improve the work environment of dental clinic.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to compare results of dental satisfaction at different type of character and provide basic materials for making the valuable strategies of dental service. Methods : Data was obtained from 256 patients using questionnaire from September 5 to October 13, 2007. Self-administered questionnaires was utilized to assess their types of personal psychological variable and find out its influential factors upon dental consumers and their intent of revisit. The data was analyzed with t-test, one-way ANOVA and logistic regression using the SPSS 14.0 Windows. Results : There is no meaningful difference in dental satisfaction as for character types and factors. Considering the difference of dental satisfaction according to general characteristics, there was a meaningful difference between groups of gender. Also interpersonal relationship as well as level of skill is significantly high in periodical dental visit. Conclusion : The results of this study indicated that environment and facility, cost is the most important influencing factor in determining whether or not the patient will visit a dental clinic repeatedly. In the future, more precise and in-depth questionnaires should be developed to analyze dental consumers.

  • Eikenella corrodens is Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, and rod-shaped bacterium. It is a part of the normal human mucosal flora that can cause several systemic diseases such as endocarditis, liver abscess, and intracranial bacterial infection. E. corrodens KCOM 3110 (= JS217) was isolated from human subgingival dental plaque of periodontitis lesion. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of E. corrodens KCOM 3110.

A Study on Patterns or Reality of Oral Health: Government Employees and Private School Employees (구강건강행태 및 실태에 대한 조사연구 (공무원 및 사립학교 교직원 중심으로))

  • Our study shows the following results of the patterns and reality of oral health of 862 Government employees and private school employees who had received oral examinations from April to May, 2000. For the exposition of each group to dental service, the male groups(37.4%) were more exposed than the female ones(30.0%, p<0.05), while the scaling experience results indicated that more ages mean more scaling(the over 50 year group 27.1%, 41-50 group 23.9%, 31-40 group 20.5%, 21-30 group 10.8%, p<0.001). The data involving sweet food and refreshments revealed that 'positive respondents' in the male groups were 19.7% with 12.5% positive in the female ones, and 'negative respondents' were 32.3% and 51.0% in the male and female groups respectively(p<0.001). For the oral odor, the male groups(37.9%) are more severe than the female ones(25.5%, p<0.01). The results of dental caries revealed that 19.1% of the male and 13.9% of the female said 'yes'(p<0.05), with 25.1% of the male and 11.1% of the female suffering from missing teeth(p<0.001); 77.4% of the male and 51.0% of the female from periodontal disease (p<0.001).

  • Agenesis of permanent tooth in adolescent patients can be treated either by orthodontic treatment for space closure or by maintaining the space until implant restoration can be carried out in adult. However, gradual atrophy of alveolar bone width makes it difficult to restore the prosthesis in the future or may cause unaesthetic results. Therefore, maintaining of not only the missing space but also the alveolar bone width should be considered. This case is a treatment whereby a temporary replacement of missing 2 mandibular incisors in adolescent patient was carried out using 2 temporary anchorage devices (TADs). Two TADs were placed horizontally 2 - 3 mm below the top of alveolar ridge, and fixed with artificial teeth by stainless steel wires extended. During the 2 year follow-up, neither gingival inflammation nor loss of the TADs have occurred. In the radiographic evaluation, the growth of the adjacent alveolar bone was not inhibited, and the width of the alveolar bone was maintained.

Vocational Competency Constituents Affecting the Professionalism of Dental Hygienists (치과위생사의 전문직업성에 영향을 미치는 직업기초능력요소)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the constituents of vocational competency affecting the professionalism of dental hygienists. The subjects in this study were 230 dental hygienists who worked in university hospitals, dental hospitals, dental clinics and public dental clinics. A survey was conducted from December, 2013, to February, 2014. To assess their vocational competency and professionalism by general characteristics, one-way ANOVA and t-test were utilized, and the level of significance was set at p<0.05. To determine what elements of vocational competency affected their professionalism, multiple regression analysis was made, and standardized regression coefficients were calculated to represent the influence of the elements. As a result, it's found that the professionalism of the dental hygienists were under the influence of their self-development skills, organizational understanding and mathematical ability. To foster self-development skills, discussion method should be utilized, and team teaching should be used to improve organizational understanding. Besides, internship and on-the-job training should be managed in a more systematic way.

The Correlation between Conflict Level within the Organization and Job Satisfaction of the Dental Hygienist (치과위생사의 조직 내 갈등수준과 직무만족도간의 관련성)

  • This research was attempted in order to investigate the correlation of the conflict level and job satisfaction of the dental hygienists in the dental clinic agency. The subjects were 249 dental hygienists working with more than five dental hygienists at dental clinics in Daegu, eight dental clinics were randomly chosen, the researcher visited them personally and the data was obtained by self-administrated questionnaires from March 2 to March 31, 2011. In conclusion, the higher ages, monthly income and total career were, the higher levels of conflict were, and job satisfaction was significantly high when monthly income and total career were higher. Correlation between level of conflict and job satisfaction showed as level of conflict are lower, job satisfaction was significantly high. Regression analysis of the factors affecting job satisfaction, it was significantly high as monthly income was higher, friction of view and ignorance was lower. Therefore, the conflict level is reduced, the job satisfaction degree of the dental hygienist is enhanced, the dental hygienist duty efficiency is enhanced and dental service of the good quality is provided.
