Hydrogen Embrittlement of Zr-2.5Nb Pressure Tube at Room Temperature by Precipitated Hydride (수소화물에 의한 Zr-2.5Nb 압력관의 상온 수소취화 거동)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the hydrogen embrittlement of Zr-2.5Nb CANDU pressure tube at room temperature. The transverse tensile and fracture toughness tests were performed at various hydrogen concentrations using transverse tensile specimens and CCT (curved compact tension) specimens. These specimens were directly machined from the pressure tube retaining original curvatures. Based on the results of these tests. the hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon was clearly observed and fracture toughness parameters of Zr-2.5Nb pressure tube materials such as, $K_{J(0.2)}$.$J_{ML}$.dJ/da, were dramatically decreased with the increasement of the hydrogen concentration. From microscopic observation by SEM and TEM, it was also revealed that various shapes dimples, fissures and quasi-cleavage were found at the hydrogen-absorbed materials with hydrides while traditional shape dimples were generally located at the as-received materials Through the comparison of the hydride and fissure lengths with the hydrogen concentration the new evaluation method of hydrogen embrittlement was suggested.

Improvement on the Corrosion Resistance and Stress Corrosion Cracking of Ultra-high Strenght AISI 4340 Steel (초강인 AISI 4340 강의 부식 저항성 향상 및 응력부식균열)

  • 초강인 AISI 4340강을 85$0^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 동안 오스테나이징 처리 후 수냉하고, 250, 400, $600^{\circ}C$에서 각각 2시간 동안 템퍼링 처리를 하였다. AISI 4340강의 인장 특성은 상온에서 측정되었다. AISI 4340강 위에 니켈 전해도금된 것과 도금되지 않은 시편의 분극 특성이 3.5wt%NaCI 수용액과 인공해수에서 측정되었다. AISI 4340강위에 니켈 전해도금된 시편은 500mV(vs. Ag/AgCI)이하의 전위에서 부식 저항이 크게 향상되었다. 그러나 1A/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 전류밀도에서 30분 이상 니켈 전해도금된 시편은 도금층에 불순물과 기공이 형성되었기 때문에 AISI 4340강의 부식 저항은 감소되었다. AISI 4340강의 수소취화형 응력부식균열을 여러 작용 응력과 음극인가전력에서 U-bend 시편을 이용하여 IN 3.5 wt% NaCI 수용액에서 조사되었고, 수소취화형 응력부식균열 거동은 주사전자현미경으로 조사되었다.

Local brittle zone of offshore structural steel welds (해양구조용 강재의 국부취화영역에 관한 연구)

  • This study is concerned with a correlation of microstructure and local brittle zone (LBZ) in offshore structural steel welds. The influence of the LBZ on fracture toughness was investigated by means of simulated heat-affected zone (HAZ) tests as well as welded joint tests. Micromechanical processes involved in void and cleavage microcrack formation were also identified using notched round tensile tests and subsequent SEM observations. The LBZ in the HAZ of a multiphase welded joint is the interstitially reheated coarse grained HAZ, which is influenced by metallurgical factors such as effective grain size, the major matrix structure and the amount of high-carbon martensite-austenite (M-A) constituents. The experimental results indicate that Chirpy energy was found to scale monotonically with the amount of M-A constituents, confirming that the M-A constituent is the major microstructural factor controlling the HAZ toughness. In addition, voids and microcracks are observed to initiate at M-A constituents by the shear cracking process. Thus, the M-A constituent played an important role in initiating the voids and microcracks, and consequently caused brittle fracture.

A Study of Hydrogen Embrittlement on a Material of CNG Storage Tank (CNG 저장용기 재료의 수소취성에 관한 연구)

  • A set of test was conducted on a SA-372 steel for CNG storage tank to study the effect of hydrogen embrittlement. Tensile tests were carried out several conditions such as CNG, HCNG and H2 gas environment including air and Ar under the 35 MPa. Also, the test speed was set at 4*10^-4/s and 4*10^-5/s respectively. To maintain the high pressure for environmental gas during test process, we chose MTS which was installed autoclave. Test results showed that tensile stress, elongation rate and cross sectional contraction under Ar and CNG charging condition were similar to that of reference of air. And there was little bit change with test speed variations. However, hydrogen added conditions such as HCNG and H2 were revealed noticeable change in elongation rate and cross sectional contraction. Tensile stress was still uniform for all conditions. From the results, the effect of hydrogen embrittlement was confirmed on the hydrogen enriched conditions. Also its effect was showed more strong with much hydrogen concentration and slower test speed.

Thermal and UV Resistance of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Bulked Continuous Filament (PTT BCF) dyed with Vat Dye via Pad-steam Method and its Dyeing Properties (Pad-steam 법을 활용한 PTT BCF에 대한 vat 염료의 염색 특성과 내열성 및 내광성 효과)

  • This study investigated the thermal degradation and fading behavior of PTT dyed with vat dye and its dyeing ability. The PTT sample was dyed with vat dye using an acid treatment and pad-steam method to improve the dyeing performance. This method made dye particle nanosize and allowed it to penetrate the polymer material easily. The sample dyed using the pad-steam method showed level dyeing and enhanced dyeing affinity, compared to the batch-dyeing method. The degradation behavior of PTT dyed with vat dye after each heat and UV treatment was examined with the change in tensile strength or K/S value on the sample. The tensile strength and K/S values of the sample dyed with vat dye after the heat and UV treatment decreased with increasing temperature and exposure time. Although they showed high degradation under severe conditions, its rate constant was improved compared to the samples dyed with disperse dye. Consequently, acid treatment and the pad-steam method resulted in the introduction of vat dye on PTT. In addition, the PTT dyed with vat dye showed enhanced thermal and UV resistance because of their high molecular weight and chemical structure for stable adsorption behavior.

  • 수영이 현대인들에게 보편화되면서, 수영복은 디자인 뿐만 아니라 소재 면에서도 여러 가지 성능이 요구되어지고 있다. 수영복 소재가 갖추어야할 주요 성능으로는 신축성, 내구성, 염색견뢰도, 속건성 등이 있다. 최근 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 수영복 소재는 나일론이나 PET이고, 주로 20-25%정도의 스판덱스가 혼용되어 사용되어지고 있다 하지만 이들은 염소수, 해수, 일광에 의해 취화되는 단점을 가지고 있다. (중략)

  • 오-스테나이트계 스테인레스강을 용접육성한 강판의 박리균열의 원인에 대하여 강중의 수소거동을 중심으로 고찰해 보았다. 강중의 수소온도 분포를 추정하는데는 확산 방정식을 기초로하여 수치해석이 유력하며 그 기초적사항에 대해 제문헌을 인용하여 설명했으며, 또 시험편에 대하여 계산과 실험치의 결과를 이용하여 비교하였다. 이들로부터 박리균열의 발생에 대한 미시적 임계조건을 도출하여, 이들이 한정된 실험의 범위내이지만 실증할 수 있음을 나타내었다. 그러나 박리균열의 원인의 하나인 잔류응력에 대해서는 아직 불명한 점이 많으나, 냉각속도에 따라 변화하며 그것이 수소농도라고 하는 관점에서 미시적 임계조건에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.
