Constructed wetlands are considered as an important tool for wastewater treatment, wastewater management and flooding control. In addition, one of the most promising technologies for application in many countries seems to be constructed wetlands due to their properties such as utilization of natural processes, simple construction, operation and maintenance, process stability, cost effectiveness, etc. This research is performed to find the possibility for treating livestock wastewater using a constructed wetland. The removal efficiencies of CODcr, TN, TP, SS, and color were 97.9%, 97.8%, 97.2%, 99.1%, and 84.9%, respectively. In particular, SS was completely removed. In conclusion, constructed wetlands could be applied to livestock wastewater treatment. Further, it needs time for stabilization to reduce the pollutants accumulated in soil.
The aim of this study was to determine the interactive effects of BSA and EGF on the viability and development of porcine diploid parthenotes developing in vitro. The addition of 0.1 and 0.4% BSA to the culture medium enhanced the development of 4-cell parthenotes to the blastocyst stage but EGF had no effect. However, while BSA also increased cell numbers, it did so only when EGF was also present. Either agent on its own had no effect. Similarly, apoptosis in the blastocysts was not influenced by either agent on its own but was reduced when both BSA and EGF were present. Furthermore, semi-quantitative reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) revealed that EGF enhanced the mRNA expression of BclxL in the presence of 0.4% BSA but BSA and EGF alone had no effect. EGF and/or BSA did not influence Bak gene expression in the blastocyst stage parthenotes. These results suggest that BSA has both beneficial and detrimental effects on the viability of porcine diploid parthenotes developing in vitro and that exogenous EGF may block some of the detrimental effects of BSA, possibly by inhibiting the BSA-induced apoptosis by increasing Bcl-xL expression. This results in a net increase in cell numbers in porcine diploid parthenotes developing in vitro.
This study was conducted to develop a lignite coal heater which can be used to livestock facilities and to test performance of the heater developed. Experimental results are as following: 1. Heating capacity of the heater was 85,000 kcal/h. 2. The concentrations of CO gas in the exhaust gas were the maximum of 759 ppm and the average of 319 ppm; for the concentrations of NOx, the maximum of 212 ppm and the average of 57 ppm ; for the concentrations of SO2 gas, the maximum of 302 ppm and the average of 99 ppm. As the values were less than the allowable concentration limites, they did not violate the air environment law. 3. Problems such as frequent interruption of fuel supply and bridge state were happened. Therefore, it was required that these should be resolved in the future.

Recently, Korea has been affected by extreme weather events including extended summers and increased temperatures caused by global warming and climate change. Environmental temperature is especially important to the livestock industry because it is closely related to livestock productivity. This study was conducted to investigate the influence of different environmental temperatures on respiration rate, rectal temperature and body-surface temperature in finishing pigs. Pigs ($98.3{\pm}6.6kg$) were housed in individual cages inside an experimental chamber and exposed continuously to one of five environmental treatments ($22^{\circ}C$, $24^{\circ}C$, $26^{\circ}C$, $28^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$) for 10 days without providing additional rest time. Feed and water intake, respiration rate, rectal temperature and body-surface (head, ear, neck, back, side) temperature were measured two times daily during the experimental period. A significant increase in respiration rate from $26^{\circ}C$ and in body-surface temperature from $24^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05) was observed. At $30^{\circ}C$, the respiration rate had almost doubled and the body-surface temperature increased by about $5^{\circ}C-7^{\circ}C$. Moreover, ear skin temperature was very sensitive to environmental temperature. However, feed intake, water intake and rectal temperature did not change significantly during the experiment.

Mixing effect on anaerobic digestion of livestock wastewater was different results depending on the researchers have been reported. The purpose of this study was to understand application of Korea livestock waste it was necessary to determine the effect of mixing. 4 anaerobic reactors were operated mesophilic and thermophilic temperature with continuous mixing or non mixing condition, respectively. Experimental result showed If temperature was same, TCOD removal efficiency of continuous mixing reactor was 0.11-0.58% higher than non mixing reactor. Different mesophilic and thermophilic temperature, there was no significant difference of TCOD removal efficiency. Continuously mixed digester gas production was 1.7-4.6% higher than non mixed digester. In addition, mesophilic digester gas production was 29.1-32.1% higher than the thermophilic digester. It was due to the thermophilic digester believe the inhibition of ammonia. This study suggest that the optimized operation condition of anaerobic digestion for livestock wastewater treatment was mesophilic continuous mixing state.
Since COVID-19, the world's food shortage population has more than doubled from 130 million to 270 million. In addition, as various issues related to the food industry such as climate change arise, the importance of agriculture and livestock is increasing. In particular, it is still difficult to utilize data generated in these field. Therefore, the objective of this study was to explain the limitations of using data based on fragmentary analysis and the necessity of Digital Twin. The additional objective was to propose an architecture and necessary technologies of a Digital Twin platform suitable for agricultural and livestock. It also proposed a Digital Twin-based service that could be used in the near future, such as labor reduction, productivity improvement, personalized consumption, transportation, and distribution by incorporating intelligent information convergence technology into facility horticulture and livestock farming.

The present study investigated the effect of average daily gain (ADG) on carcass traits of Hanwoo steers. A total of 233 heads of Hanwoo steer slaughtered from 2017 to 2020 were employed in the analysis. Their body weight profiles during feedlot and carcass traits were used. The entire feedlot period is split into two periods. ADG during the first period (ADG1) was then defined as an independent variable in statistical analysis. In the meantime, it was examined that how the cutoff month for the period split altered the significance of the effect of ADG1 on carcass traits. Subsequently, steers were assigned to two groups (High vs. Low) based on the median of total ADG1, and we compared the carcass traits of each group using a linear mixed model. ADG1 during 10 to 23 months showed a significant effect on all carcass traits except the marbling score. ADG1 significantly influenced carcass weight and eye muscle area of Hanwoo steers. And it was found that greater ADG1 could get greater carcass weight and eye muscle area (p<0.001). The result of this study provides preliminary information for the target month in the calculation of ADG1 mostly influencing carcass performance, and feeding strategy of Hanwoo steer in terms of sustainability.
After detection of red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta) at Gamman port in Busan in September of 2017, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency has surveilled invasive ants in the area with a high invasion risk of ants. However, existing surveillance traps have several limitations such as captured ants could escape easily or it is very hard to set up the trap on a hard ground like concrete or asphalt. To solve these problems, we developed a new trap using multiple narrow tubes to attract ants to the inside of the trap and make it hard for ants to escape. The new trap can be easily set up under various conditions. The new trap has more than four times ant capturing efficacy compared to conventional pitfall traps. Our results confirmed that the new trap could prevent captured ants from escaping. We hope that this newly developed trap would contribute to the prevention of invasive ants.
This study was conducted to compare the stability between branched-chain amino acid (BCAA)-encapsulated liposome and double emulsion (DE). Liposome was produced by high-speed homogenization and ultrasonication whereas DE was prepared by homogenizing with surfactants. All samples were fixed at pH 4 and 7 and stored at 4, 25, and $40^{\circ}C$ for 5 days. Encapsulation efficiency and cumulative release rate were measured under $4^{\circ}C$ and at $25^{\circ}C$. The results showed that the size of BCAA-coated liposome was greater at pH 7 than at pH 4. The zeta-potential value of BCAA-coated liposome was greater at pH 4 than at pH 7. It was supposed that the negatively charged liposomes attracted the positively charged BCAAs at pH 4 resulting in the formation of the vesicle with smaller size. Particle size of DE was smaller than $100{\mu}m$. Encapsulation efficiencies of BCAA in DE or liposome were over 97%, approximately, and the cumulative release rates of them were below 30% for 5 days.

As a means to activate eco pastoral system in alpine grassland, the government can consider public pastures, which are currently unused, to scale them up into public ranches. Depending on ownership and operation, four management models proposed as follows: 1) Government-Owned and Operated with Balanced Profit and Loss 2) Government-Owned and Operated with Revenue Generation 3) Government-Owned but Privately Operated by Outsourced to Professional Manager 4) Full Privatization (Ownership and Operation by Private Individuals). The study outlined above proposes four management models for the activation of eco pastoral system in alpine grassland. It also suggests methods for the selection and performance evaluation of manager to establish a profitable structure. Additionally, the research provides management methods for the conservation of grazing ecology in pastoral ecosystems. Particularly, the adaptation of tools commonly used in South Korean business sector for the selection and performance evaluation of manager within the system of the proposed management models. This aspect is deemed valuable as it aligns these tools with the specific characteristics of eco pastoral system in alpine grassland, contributing not only to the effective implementation of the models but also to the enhancement of the revenue structure.
