Judgment about the Usefulness of Automatically Extracted Temporal Information from News Articles for Event Detection and Tracking (사건 탐지 및 추적을 위해 신문기사에서 자동 추출된 시간정보의 유용성 판단)

  • Temporal information plays an important role in natural language processing (NLP) applications such as information extraction, discourse analysis, automatic summarization, and question-answering. In the topic detection and tracking (TDT) area, the temporal information often used is the publication date of a message, which is readily available but limited in its usefulness. We developed a relatively simple NLP method of extracting temporal information from Korean news articles, with the goal of improving performance of TDT tasks. To extract temporal information, we make use of finite state automata and a lexicon containing time-revealing vocabulary. Extracted information is converted into a canonicalized representation of a time point or a time duration. We first evaluated the extraction and canonicalization methods for their accuracy and investigated on the extent to which temporal information extracted as such can help TDT tasks. The experimental results show that time information extracted from text indeed helps improve both precision and recall significantly.

A Fast and Accurate Face Detection and Tracking Method by using Depth Information (깊이정보를 이용한 고속 고정밀 얼굴검출 및 추적 방법)

  • This paper proposes a fast face detection and tracking method which uses depth images as well as RGB images. It consists of the face detection procedure and the face tracking procedure. The face detection method basically uses an existing method, Adaboost, but it reduces the size of the search area by using the depth image. The proposed face tracking method uses a template matching technique and incorporates an early-termination scheme to reduce the execution time further. The results from implementing and experimenting the proposed methods showed that the proposed face detection method takes only about 39% of the execution time of the existing method. The proposed tracking method takes only 2.48ms per frame with $640{\times}480$ resolution. For the exactness, the proposed detection method showed a little lower in detection ratio but in the error ratio, which is for the cases when a detected one as a face is not really a face, the proposed method showed only about 38% of that of the previous method. The proposed face tracking method turned out to have a trade-off relationship between the execution time and the exactness. In all the cases except a special one, the tracking error ratio is as low as about 1%. Therefore, we expect the proposed face detection and tracking methods can be used individually or in combined for many applications that need fast execution and exact detection or tracking.

  • In this abstract, the FPGA system using solar tracking is introduced. Solar tracking system combined with sensor tracking and solar altitude programming is utilized. The sensor tracking system consists of image sensor, light sensor, and the programs for sun altitude received by the computer. The sun altitude is received from the national weather database by wireless communication. The goal is to have maximum energy generation efficiency using bi-directional tracking and mixed tracking with FPGAs that are relatively inexpensive in terms of developing and programming the system.

Accuracy Enhancement for UWB Indoor Positioning Using Ray Tracing (광선 추적법에 의한 초광대역 실내 위치인식의 성능 개선 방법)

  • The Presence of a line-of-sight(LoS) blockage can degrade the UWB positioning accuracy for two reasons. Firstly, it makes estimation of the time of arrival(ToA) of the direct path signal difficult by complicating the multipath structure of the propagation channel. Secondly, the higher dielectric constant of the LoS blocking material than that of free space introduces excess propagation delay which will bias the range estimation. In this paper, methods based on ray tracing to reduce the ranging error resulting from the second reason are Posed. We take two different approaches; a statistical approach and a map-aided method. In the statistical approach, we establish a conditional distribution of the excess propagation delay caused by LoS blockages using a ray tracing technique. The lo6wer bound of the ranging performance based on this model is estimated. Ine ray tracing method is also used for the map-aided ToA positioning approach. UWB propagation measurement data taken in an office environment is used to examine the performance of this method.

  • 모바일 환경에서 평면기반 카메라 추적을 이용해서 가상 물체를 증강시킬 때 강건함과 실시간성은 매우 중요하면서도 서로 상반관계에 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 인접한 프레임 사이의 시간일관성을 이용한다. 즉, 카메라 움직임이 크지 않다고 가정하고, 이전 프레임의 정보로부터 현재 프레임에서의 초기 카메라 포즈를 쉽게 얻을 수 있으며, 이를 이용함으로써 좀더 강건하면서 빠른 평면기반 카메라 추적 방법을 제안한다. 또한, 특징점 추적을 보다 효율적인 방법으로 대체함으로써, 속도 개선을 극대화한다. 실험을 통해서 제안된 방법이 50%정도의 시간이 절약되면서도 강건함이 보장된다는 것을 확인하였다.

A Simplified Time Domain Channel Tracking Scheme in OFDM Systems with Null Sub-Carriers (Null 부반송파를 갖는 OFDM 시스템에서 단순화된 시간영역 채널 추적 방식)

  • This paper proposes a scheme to track channel response in OFDM systems with null sub-carriers. The proposed channel tracking scheme estimates the channel response first in the frequency domain by using the decision directed data. The time domain channel estimation is then performed to remove additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) components further. Due to the channel estimation in the frequency domain, no inverse matrix calculation is required in the time domain channel estimation. Computational reduction in the proposed method is about 93%, compared with the conventional time domain channel estimation method. Mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) performances are evaluated by using computer simulation. The proposed method shows the same performance as that of the conventional time domain channel estimation even though the significant computational reduction.

Mutiple Target Angle Tracking Algorithm Based on measurement Fusion (측정치 융합에 기반을 둔 다중표적 방위각 추적 알고리즘)

  • Ryu et al. proposed a multiple target angle tracking algorithm using the angular measurement obtained from the signal subspace estimated by the output of sensor array. Ryu's algorithm has good features that it has no data association problem and simple structure. But its performance is seriously degraded in the low signal-to-noise ratio, and it uses the angular measurement obtained from the signal subspace of sampling time, even though the signal subspace is continuously updated by the output of sensor array. For improving the tracking performance of Ryu's algorithm, a measurement fusion method is derived based on ML(Maximum Likelihood) in this paper, and it admits us to use the angular measurements obtained form the adjacent signal subspaces as well as the signal subspace of sampling time. The new target angle tracking algorithm is proposed using the derived measurement fusion method. The proposed algorithm has a better tracking performance than that of Ryu's algorithm and it sustains the good features of Ryu's algorithm.

  • 항공기, 차량, 고속의 비행체 등과 같은 동적인 플랫폼에서 표적을 추적하기 위한 영상 추적 시스템은 시선을 안정화하는 외부의 추적루프와 내부의 안정화 루프를 포함하는 구조로 되어 있다. 2축 김발을 사용하는 영상 추적 시스템의 추적루프는 크게 영상 추적기, 추적 제어기, 안정화 루프 등으로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상 추적 시스템의 추적 제어기를 설계하여 성능을 분석하고, 또한 설계된 제어기를 적용하여 영상 추적기의 시간지연에 의한 추적 루프 특성을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 설계된 추적 제어기를 영상 추적 시스템 시뮬레이터에 적용하여 고기동 고속의 비행체 환경에서 추적 루프 성능을 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a model based moving object tracking algorithm In dynamic scenes To adapt shape change of the moving object, the Hausdorff distance is applied as the measurement of similarity between model and image To reduce processing time, 2D logarithmic search method is applied for locate the position of moving object Experiments on a running vehicle and motorcycle, the result showed that the mean square error of real position and tracking result is 1150 and 1845; matching times are reduced average 1125times and 523 times than existing algorithm for vehicle image and motorcycle image, respectively It showed that the proposed algorithm could track the moving object accurately.
