  • 미분양 증가와 고유가.원자재가 인상 등으로 건설 경기가 침체된 가운데 부도를 맞은 건설사들이 늘고 있는 상황에서 건설.금융 업계에 악성 루머가 돌고 있다. 추석 이후 미국발 금융 위기가 터지면서 금융 기관이 자금 대출 규모를 축소하자 건설사들이 돈 구할 곳을 찾지 못해 부도 위기에 처했다는 것이다. 악성 루머에 시달리고 있는 건설 업계의 현황과 속사정을 살펴보았다.

Effects of Mowing (Beolcho) Timing and Height on Growth Characteristics of Zoysia japonica and Z. matrella before Chuseok (추석 전 잔디 깍기(벌초) 시기 및 높이에 따른 들잔디와 금잔디의 생육)

  • In Korea, mowing the grass of a grave (Beolcho) is a very important event preceded by Chuseok (Korean thanks giving day) and Si-Hyang (annual ancestral feast). Because Beolcho usually takes place one or two weeks before Chuseok, the traffic accidents on roads are getting worse and safety accidents are getting more and more. Erroneous Beolcho methods can cause the soil to be exposed and cause the loss of soil or the low shoot density of graveyard grass or weed occurrence. Therefore, the dispersion of the Beolcho timing and the approprite method can be import issues. The present study assessed the effects of grass mowing timing and height before Chuseok on the growth of Zoysia japonica and Z. matrella. The mowing timing was evaluated at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks before Chuseok, and the mowing height differently according to the two type of grass. In Z. japonica, the faster mowing before Chuseok, the longer the plant height, and the coverage rate and shoot density were higher. In Z. matrella, the faster mowing, the longer the shoot length, but the coverage rate and shoot density did not show any difference or tendency. As compared to Z. japonica, the plant height of Z. matrella was kept short regardless of the time of mowing. In both grasses, the plant height was shortened when mowing was done at low cutting height, but the coverage rate and shoot density were decreased. In addition, it was shown that it is advantageous to maintain the shoot density of graveyard lawn by 40-50 mm or 30-40 mm cutting above the ground for Z. japonica or Z. matrella, respectively.

A Study on the Foods of Annual Custom in Cheongju Area (청주지역(淸州地域) 세시음식(歲時飮食)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • A study on the foods of annual custom in Cheongju area was done to know the present practices and compare with Dongkooksesiki (동국세시기(東國歲時記)), Youlyangsesiki (열양세시기(洌陽歲時記)), Kyoungdojabji (경도잡지(京都雜誌)), and the results of a study on the gala foods in Kangweon province. Those annual custom which are celebrated in Cheongju area are Seolnal (New Year's Day) (100%), Chuseok (Harvest Moon Day) (100%), Daeboreum (the 15th of January) (92.6%), Dongji (the winter solstice) (75.2%), and Sambok (the period of summer heat) (67.4%) in the order of higher percentages. No subjects for this survey are keeping on celebrating Junghwa (servants day), Jungwon (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month), and Nabpyoung. Foods of annual custom on Chuseok and Seolnal had a greater variety, compared with those enjoyed on other annual custom. Foods of annual custom such as Ddugguk, Mandoo on Seolnal, Ogokbab, Mugeunnamul, and Buryum on Daeboreum, Songpyun on Chuseok, Patjuk on Dongji were being enjoyed by most people. But the other foods of annual custom are enjoyed in a lower percentage or almost forgotten.

Satellite Image Analysis of Convective Cell in the Chuseok Heavy Rain of 21 September 2010 (2010년 9월 21일 추석 호우와 관련된 대류 세포의 위성 영상 분석)

  • On 21 September 2010, one of Chuseok holidays in Korea, localized heavy rainfalls occurred over the midwestern region of the Korean peninsula. In this study MTSAT-2 infrared and water vapor channel imagery are examined to find out some features which are obvious in each stage of the life cycle of convective cell for this heavy rain event. Also the kinematic and thermodynamic features probably associated with them are investigated. The first clouds related with the Chuseok heavy rain are detected as low-level multicell cloud (brightness temperature: $-15{\sim}0^{\circ}C$) in the middle of the Yellow sea at 1630~1900 UTC on 20 Sept., which are probably associated with the convergence at 1000 hPa. Convective cells are initiated in the vicinity of Shantung peninsula at 1933 UTC 20, which have developed around the edge of the dark region in water vapor images. At two times of 0033 and 0433 UTC 21 the merging of two convective cells happens near midwestern coast of the peninsula and then they have developed rapidly. From 0430 to 1000 UTC 21, key features of convective cell include repeated formation of secondary cell, slow horizontal cloud motion, persistence of lower brightness temperature ($-75{\sim}-65^{\circ}C$), and relatively small cloud size (${\leq}-50^{\circ}C$) of about $30,000km^2$. Radar analysis showed that this heavy rain is featured by a narrow line-shaped rainband with locally heavy rainrate (${\geq}50$ mm/hr), which is located in the south-western edge of the convective cell. However there are no distinct features in the associated synoptic-scale dynamic forcing. After 1000 UTC 21 the convective cell grows up quickly in cloud size and then is dissipated. These satellite features may be employed for very short range forecast and nowcasting of mesoscale heavy rain system.
