According to the arbitration mechanism among the peers in the network, the P2P networking environments can be classified into hybrid P2P networking environments and pure P2P networking environments. In hybrid P2P networking environments, each peer gets continual services from the servers that arc operational most of the time, and so, network isolation does not occur because every peer can always keep connection to the server. In pure P2P networking environments, however, every peer directly connects to another peer without server intervention, and so, network isolation can occur when the per mediating the connection is terminated. In this paper, we propose a scheme for each peer to keep connection information of other peers by maintaining IDs of its neighbor peers, to reconnect to another peers when the mediating peer fails to work. and, for efficiency. to balance the number of connections that should be maintained by each peer. With our mechanism, each pier in the network can continuously maintain connection to the network and get seamless services from other peers. Through the simulation, we ascer-tained that network isolation does not occur in the pure P2P network adopting our mechanism and that our mechanism distributes and balances the connections that are maintained by each peer. We also analyzed the total network traffic and the mean number of hops for the connections made by each peer according to the recommended number of connections that is established at system setup time.
Normalization transform is very useful for finding the overall trend of the time-series data since it enables finding sequences with similar fluctuation patterns. The previous subsequence matching method with normalization transform, however, would incur index overhead both in storage space and in update maintenance since it should build multiple indexes for supporting arbitrary length of query sequences. To solve this problem, we propose a single index approach for the normalization transformed subsequence matching that supports arbitrary length of query sequences. For the single index approach, we first provide the notion of inclusion-normalization transform by generalizing the original definition of normalization transform. The inclusion-normalization transform normalizes a window by using the mean and the standard deviation of a subsequence that includes the window. Next, we formally prove correctness of the proposed method that uses the inclusion-normalization transform for the normalization transformed subsequence matching. We then propose subsequence matching and index building algorithms to implement the proposed method. Experimental results for real stock data show that our method improves performance by up to $2.5{\sim}2.8$ times over the previous method. Our approach has an additional advantage of being generalized to support many sorts of other transforms as well as normalization transform. Therefore, we believe our work will be widely used in many sorts of transform-based subsequence matching methods.

When a DEV associates with an existing WPAN, the PNC checks the capabilities of the new DEV to see if it is more capable to be the PNC of the piconet based on the criteria defined in the IEEE Std 802.15. If the new DEV is more capable and the current security policies allow it, then the PNC has the option of handing over control of the piconet to the DEV that has just joined. And, If the PNC is shutting down or wants to leave the WPAN, it also uses the handover process to give control to another DEV in the piconet. However, IEEE 802.15.3 checks only DEV capability information for more PNC capable. For PNC selection, it should consider the radio coverage of new PNC capable DEVs. So, we propose the method of PNC selection with accessibility check. This method manages PNC candidate list in the current piconet. In this paper, we analyze accessibility problems for PNC selection in section 2. In section 3, we explain CI(Configuration Inquiry) process which is proposed by Sony Corporation and propose PCI(PNC Candidate Inquiry) process. Also, we perform numerical analysis to compare PCI process with CI process in section 4. Finally, we conclude in section 5.
Digital Video Library System which manages a large amount of multimedia information requires efficient and effective retrieval methods. In this paper, we propose and implement a new video search and retrieval algorithm that compares the query video shot with the video shots in the archives in terms of foreground object, background image, audio, and its context. The foreground object is the region of the video image that has been changed in the successive frames of the shot, the background image is the remaining region of the video image, and the context is the relationship between the low-level features of the adjacent shots. Comparing these features is a result of reflecting the process of filming a moving picture, and it helps the user to submit a query focused on the desired features of the target video clips easily by adjusting their weights in the comparing process. Although the proposed search and retrieval algorithm could not totally reflect the high level semantics of the submitted query video, it tries to reflect the users' requirements as much as possible by considering the context of video clips and by adjusting its weight in the comparing process.
It was the 1900s that the damaged materials of stone heritages began to be preserved and managed for the purpose of reuse, especially since cement, an inorganic material, began to be used during the Japanese colonial period. Epoxy resin, an organic material, was introduced to architecture around the turn of the 1990s, and has been being used across the board. In particular, filler mixtures began to be aggressively used for the structural reinforcement of severed materials. The problem was metal stiffeners used for structural reinforcement. The anchorage length varied depending in different conservation scientists, and as a result the secondary damage was apt to occur in the materials. In this study, hereat, a calculation was made of the most effective anchorage length with the minimization of material damage. The results were as in the following: the anchorage length of an 8-milimeter-across (ø8) metal stiffener was found to be most effective at 60.88mm. Those of ø12 and ø16 were 60.88mm and 91.32mm respectively. In the case of other calibers, the anchorage length was calculated by a formula ${\ell}_d=a_tf_y/u{\Sigma}_0$. In the experiment, helically-threaded round bars were used as metal stiffeners in order that they could bear surcharge loads such as bending, shear and constriction.
The Unhyungung Water Container in the possession of the Seoul Museum of History in Korea is consisted of a calcareous marble developed laminated bedding and numerous argillaceous veinlets. This monument should need to conservation treatment because of black discoloration and seriously numerous cracks. Vertical and horizontal cracks in the monument are developed following stratification and argillaceous veinlets that are relatively low coherence between the rock materials. We have proved that the material inducing discoloration on the surface is carbon which is formed by deposited organic matters. As the result of the ultrasonic measurements, although highly surface weathering degree, the physical properties of the Unhyungung Water Container is confirmed slightly weathered state. The depths of cracks in the monument are calculated at maximum 60mm in some cracks completely penetrating into the wall and at minimum 9mm in the other crack. The cracks, developed following veinlet, are revealed that there penetrate from an outer wall to an inside wall for the monument. And most depths of cracks, developed following stratification, are calculated 20 to 30mm. This result will offer a significant data for conservation of the Unhyungung Water Container.

Steel pipe piles have been used as various deep foundation materials for a long time. Recent increase in steel material cost has made engineers reluctant in using it even with its good quality and ease of construction. Therefore when constructing with steel pipe pile, the decision to reuse the excessive pile length that is cut off from the designed pile head elevation after pile driving can be cost saving. This has caused many constructors to reuse the pile leftovers with new piles, but the absence of quantitative structural capacity behaviors of steel pipe pile after pile driving or appropriate countermeasures and standards in reusing steel pipe pile has resulted in wrong applications, pile structural integrity problems, inappropriate limitation of reusable pile length, etc. The structural performance analysis between a new pile and a pile that has undergone working state and ultimate state stress level during pile driving was performed in this research by means of comparing the results between the dynamic pile load test, tensile load test, charpy energy test and fatigue test for high strength steel of $440N/mm^2$ yield strength. Test results show that under working load conditions the yield strength variation is less than 2% and for ultimate load conditions the variation is less than 5% for maximum total blow count of 3000. The results have been statistically analyzed to check the sensitivity of each factors involved. From the test results, reusability of steel pipe pile lies not in the main pipe yield strength deviation but in the reduction of absorb energy, strength changes and quality control at the welded section, shape deformation and local buckling during pile driving.
Displacement of dams by various instrumentations has been monitored for its safety management and analyzing the behavior after a dam collapse accident. However, unknown displacement of dam has frequently been occurred and it's difficult to analyze behavior of dams more accurately. In this study, improvement of reliabilities for displacement of dams measured by a total station was suggested by calibrating the monitoring system. The position of total station was initially measured through 2-3 given points and the coordinate of the total station was considered as an absolute value. Also, base horizontal and vertical angles had not been considered even if they are important factors when displacement was estimated. In this study, location of the total station and variations of base horizontal and vertical angles were investigated during measuring displacements of targeting points. From the results of this study, they are important factors which are affecting measurements of dam displacements. Before the calibrating, the displacement at 50 m from total station was ${\pm}20mm$. After the calibrating, the displacement was decreased by ${\pm}5mm$.

This study aimed to provide the basic data to establish measures for the management of the public toilets and reduction of the offensive odor through the air dilution olfactory method and instrumental analysis about offensive odor dilution rate of public toilets, focusing on the Dong-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City, Korea. The offensive odor intensities ranged from 10 degree to 669 degrees in the urinal toilets and from 31 to 464 in closet bowl toilets. Meanwhile, toilets that had offensive odor of more than 2.5, of which a civil complaint can be filed, were researched 6 (33%). Offensive odor intensities were different according to the closet bowl toilets of the flush, fermented and conventional methods and the year of their installation, but not according to the area of the toilets. As a result of the instrumental analysis targeting 6 public toilets to identify the offensive odor substance, the maximal concentration of $NH_3$ was 2.04 ppm and the average concentration was 0.67 ppm, but $H_2S$, $CH_3SH$ and $(CH_3)_3N$ were not detected. In the fermented and conventional public toilets were not soaps, air fresheners and wastebaskets. Just 50% of the flush toilets had toilet tissue.
Changwon City first constructed riverbank filtration plants in Book-Myeon and Daesan-Myeon in Korea in the year 2001. This study evaluated hydrogeological characteristics and groundwater flow simulation between the Nakdong River and the fluvial aquifers adjacent to the river in Book-Myeon, Changwon City. The groundwater simulation calculated the influx rate from the Nakdong River and the fluvial aquifers to pumping wells through the riverbank filtration system. The groundwater flow model utilized drilling, grain size analysis, pumping test, groundwater level measurements, river water discharge and rainfall data. Hydraulic heads calculated by the steady-state model closely matched measured heads in pumping and observation wells. According to the transient flow model, using a total pumping amount of 14,000 $m^3$/day, the flux into the pumping wells from the Nakdong River accounts for 8,390 $m^3$/day (60%), 590 $m^3$/day (4%) is from the aquifer in the rectilinea. direction to the Nakdong River, and 5,020 $m^3$/day (36%) is from the aquifer in the parallel direction to the Nakdong River. The particle tracking analysis shows that a particle from the Nakdong River moves toward the pumping wells at a rate of about 1.85 m/day and a particle from the aquifer moves toward the pumping wells at a rate of about 0.75 m/day. This study contributes to surface water/groundwater management modeling, and helps in understanding, how seasonal change affects pumping rates, water quality, and natural recharge.
