  • During the medical ultrasound exercise at school, we randomly select parts of the ultrasound device and areas with the most contact in the abdominal phantom to detect bacteria that are above the probe and determine the number of pathogens. I want to find out. The experimental method was rubbed 20 times with the sterilized cotton swab for sterilization and then smeared on Lysogeny broth (LB) agar, put into the incubator and incubated for 48 hours, and the colony forming unit (CFU) count was measured. The bacterial distribution of probe handle and abdominal phantom was evaluated by evaluation. As a result, the CFU value is the lens was $3.0{\pm}0.87$, print button was $5.5{\pm}1.06$, freeze button was $8.0{\pm}4.95$, phantom was $20.0{\pm}2.78$, line was $23.5{\pm}2.50$, and probe handle was measured as $35.3{\pm}10.75$. In this study, it is expected that attention to infection control of equipment during practice during medical ultrasound practice can be highlighted and further contributed to the reduction of bacterial infection rate of ultrasound devices.

  • The examination needle used in ultrasound biopsy is a medical device used to determine whether there is an abnormality in the tissue. Typically, stainless steel is the standard material used for such needles; however, this study wanted to identify a material that could better enhance sound compared to traditional stainless steel. In this study, six types of needle materials available with the biopsy gun were inserted into pork and ultrasound images according to the curved probe and linear probe were evaluated using ultrasound equipment. The findings revealed significant improvements in ultrasound acoustic enhancement with alternative materials compared to stainless steel (p<0.05). The results regarding the depth of each ultrasound image using the curved probe showed that tungsten and brass had high sound enhancement(p<0.05), while with the linear probe, sound enhancement was high in brass, pla, aluminum, and copper(p<0.05). Due to these results, the previously used stainless needle showed lower ultrasound acoustic enhancement than the five types of materials being compared. Consequently, the outcomes of this study provide valuable insights for the development of new needle technologies aimed at minimizing patient risks and improving diagnostic accuracy.

  • Three-dimensional ultrasonic probes being applied to the medical imaging can be grouped into three depending on the scanning methods, which are a mechanical type system, a free-hand system, and 2D phased arrays system. A mechanical type scanner uses a mechanically driven transducer to acquire series of 2D plane images. By integrating these images, a 3-D medical image can be constructed. A motor driving mechanism is a conventional choice for mechanically driving a transducer assembly which picks the raw ultrasonic images up. In this paper we attempt to design a 3D ultrasonic probe which has a operating mechanism of s tilting 3-D scanning. The motion of a transducer assembly of the ultrasonic probe is analytically modelled. We propose a selection procedure for the diameter of a wire rope driving the transducer assembly and the size of torsional spring which gives an initial tension to wire ropes.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to measure the capacitances using not LCR meter but capacitance to voltage(C/V) conversion. And we design the analog MUX circuits that convert 192 channels to 6 MUX channels in order to implement the diagnosis of multi-channel ultrasonic probe. This paper derives the conversion function that converts the digital voltage of each MUX channel to the capacitance using the least squares method because the circuit characteristics that convert the voltage of each MUX channel to the capacitance are different. The developed prototype illustrates the performance test results that the measure times are measured by within 4sec and the measure error rates of maximum, minimum, and average values are within 5% in terms of the repeated measurements of all 192 channels.

  • Breast cancer is one of the top three most common cancers in modern women, and the incidence rate is increasing rapidly. Breast cancer has a high family history and a mortality rate of about 15%, making it a high-risk group. Therefore, breast cancer needs constant management after an early examination. Among the various equipment that can diagnose cancer, ultrasound has the advantage of low risk and being able to diagnose in real time. In addition, breast ultrasound will be more useful because Asian women's breasts are denser and less sensitive. However, the results of ultrasound examinations vary greatly depending on the technology of the examiner. To compensate for this, we intend to incorporate motion tracking technology. Motion tracking is a technology that specifies and analyzes a location according to the movement of an object in a three-dimensional space. Therefore, real-time control is possible, and complex and fast movements can be recorded in real time. We would like to present the production of an ultrasound examination guide using these advantages.

  • It is important to get clinical ultrasonic images of good quality for accurate diagnosis. In this study, it observed the change of ultrasonic images against setting frequency, dynamic range(DR) and type of probes on ultrasonic scanner. In the experiment it evaluated image of LCS (Low Contrast Sensitivity) targets(-15, -6, -3, +3, +6, +15 dB) of a standard ultrasonic test phantoms(539,551, ATS, USA) similar to solid and cystic lesions. Its imaged from convex (C3-7IM) and linear probe (L5-12IM) on SA-9900 (Medison Ltd, Korea) scanner. The images obtained altering the setting parameters which are frequency(gen, pen, res, harmonic) mode and DR($40{\sim}100\;dB$). The quality of images evaluated compare with the nominal LCS value of target and measured LCS value. The results show that there was no significant changing of quality images altering DR 40, 60, 80, 100 dB against frequency in Convex probe but the image being the highest in LCS target at DR 60 dB, harmonic of frequency mode in the -15 dB target close to cystic lesion. In Linear probe, DR 40 dB, harmonic mode at -15 dB LCS target close to nominal value. It discussed necessity of evaluation about ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristic) from the psychological viewpoint and limit of evaluation from quantified images.

  • Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor occurring in the prostate. Recently, the repetition rate is increasing. Image inspection method which we can check the prostate structure the most correctly is MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging), but it is hard to apply it to all the patients because of the cost. So, they use mostly TRUS(Transrectal Ultrasound) images acquired from prostate ultrasound inspection and which are cheap and easy to inspect the prostate in the process of treating and diagnosing the prostate cancer. Traditionally, in the hospital the doctors saw the TRUS images by their eyes and manually segmented the boundary between the prostate and nonprostate. But the manually segmenting process not only needed too much time but also had different boundaries according to the doctor. To cope the problems, some automatic segmentations of the prostate have been studied to generate the constant segmentation results and get the belief from patients. In this study, we propose an average shape model to segment the prostate boundary in TRUS prostate image. The method has 3 steps. First, it finds the probe using edge distribution. Next, it finds two straight lines connected with the probe. Finally it puts the shape model to the image using the position of the probe and straight lines.

  • In this paper a ultrasonic level meter for accurately and simply measuring oil levels of vehicle transmission is developed and its effectiveness is shown by experiments. By using a FPGA, all digital signal processes for the oil level calculation is fulfilled, and the programming on a FPGA project IDE enables very short developing time. And besides, analog circuits including a transmit/receive switch, multi-stage active filters and an envelope detect circuit are designed to process low-level ultrasonic echo signal. Under experiments, the designed level meter has proven to have the accuracy of about within 1[mm] scale.

  • Ultrasound is known to be harmless to the human body and is widely used in obstetrics and gynecology to confirm the diagnosis and development status of fetus. Diagnosis Although long - term use of ultrasound may cause changes in body temperature, studies on the uterine temperature changes due to ultrasound have been lacking. The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of temperature according to ultrasonic scanning time using a self - produced uterine model phantom. Ultrasound equipment and a 4MHz convex probe were used to construct the uterine model phantom similar to the human uterus using acrylic and pig uterus, which are tissue equivalents. Three probe type thermometers were installed to measure the inside of the acrylic water tank, the uterus, and the atmospheric temperature. The temperature of the uterine phantom was ascertained by measuring the temperature of the subject for 6 hours, 361 times. In this study, the possibility of human body temperature elevation due to ultrasound could be confirmed and this study will be used as the basic data of ultrasonic heat absorption study.
