A Study on Decreasing Effects of Ultra-fine Particles (PM2.5) by Structures in a Roadside Buffer Green - A Buffer Green in Songpa-gu, Seoul - (도로변 완충녹지의 식재구조에 따른 초미세먼지(PM2.5)농도 저감효과 연구 - 서울 송파구 완충녹지를 대상으로 -)

  • This study aims to verify the effect of green buffers, built as urban planning facilities on the reduction of ultra-fine particulate($PM_{2.5}$) and analyze changes in ultra-fine particles by structure, green volume and planting types of wayside green buffers, thus drawing the factors that can be used when green buffers are built to reduce ultra-fine particulate based on the results. This study selected Songpa-gu, and investigated 16 sites on 5 green buffers adjacent to two of Songpa-gu's main roads, 'Yangjaedaero' and 'Songpadaero'. This study divided all the green spaces into three different types-slope type, plain type and mounding type, and analyzed the mean green volume. As a result of measuring the concentration of $PM_{2.5}$, this study found that it was $55.5{\mu}g/m^3$ on average in winter, which was a harmful level according to the integrated environmental index provided by Seoul City, saying that levels above $50{\mu}g/m^3$ may have a harmful effect on sensitive groups of people. Particularly, the concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ was $38.6{\mu}g/m^3$ on average in spring, which exceeded the mean concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ in Seoul City in 2015. The mean concentrations of $PM_{2.5}$ in every investigation spot were $46.6{\mu}g/m^3$ for sidewalks, $45.5{\mu}g/m^3$ for green spaces and $42.9{\mu}g/m^3$ for residential areas, all of which were lower than $53.2{\mu}g/m^3$ for roads, regardless of the season. The concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ for residential areas was the lowest. In the stage of confirming the effect of green buffers, this study analyzed the correlation between the green volume of vegetation and the fluctuated rate of ultra-fine particles. As a result, it was found that the green coverage rate of trees and shrubs was related to the crown volume in every investigation spot but were mutually and complexly affected by each other. Therefore, this study judged that the greater the number of layers of shrubs that are made, the more effective it is in reducing the concentration of $PM_{2.5}$. As for seasonal characteristics, this study analyzed the correlation between the concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ for residential areas in winter and the green coverage rate of each green space type. As a result, this study found that there was a negative correlation showing that the higher the shrub green coverage rate is, the lower the concentration value becomes in all the slope-type, plain-type and mounding-type green spaces. This study confirmed that the number of tree rows and the number of shrub layers have negative correlations with the fluctuated concentration rate of $PM_{2.5}$. Especially, it was judged that the shrub green volume has greater effect than any other factor, and each green space type shows a negative correlation with the shrub coverage rate in winter.

  • $^{57}Fe_xCu_{1-x}O$(x = 0.0, 0.02) powders were prepared by sol-gel method and their crystallographic and magnetic hyperfine properties have been studied using X-ray diffraction and $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectroscopy (MS). The crystal structure of the samples is found to be monoclinic without any secondary phases and their lattice parameters increase with increasing annealing temperature ($T_A$), which is attributed to an increase in oxygen-vacancy content. MS measurements at room temperature indicate that $Fe^{3+}$ ions substitute $Cu^{2+}$ sites and ferromagnetic phase grow with increasing $T_A$. Magnetic hyperfine and quadrupole interactions of $^{57}Fe_{0.02}Cu_{0.98}O$ ($T_A=500^{\circ}C$) in the antiferromagnetic state at 17 K have been studied, yielding the following results: $H_{hf}=426.94\;kOe$, ${\Delta}E_Q=-3.67\;mm/s$, I.S.=0.32 mm/s, ${\theta}=65^{\circ}$, ${\phi}=0^{\circ}$, and ${\eta}=0.6$.

Coupling Intensity Effects in Ladder-type Electromagnetically Induced Transparency of Rb atoms (결합광 세기에 따른 Rb 원자의 사다리형 전자기 유도 투과)

  • We have studied the polarization effects and the coupling intensity effects of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) in the 5S$_{1}$2-/5P$_{3}$2-/5D$_{5}$2/ ladder system of Rb. We obtained the EIT spectrum with the hyperfine structure of 5D$_{5}$2/ transitions and the minimal width of the measured EIT spectrum was 6.5 MHz. We observed the change of the relative magnitudes of the hyperfine structure of EIT according to not only the polarizations of lasers but also the intensity of the coupling laser. The cause of the coupling intensity effects is that the EIT signal nonlinearly increases to the coupling intensity.

I2-Saturated Absorption Spectroscopy for Frequency-Stabilization of He-Ne Laser at 543 nm (543 nm 헬륨네온 레이저의 주파수 안정화를 위한 I2 포화흡수분광)

  • We have designed and assembled a saturated absorption-spectroscopy system of $^{127}I_2$ for the frequency stabilization of the 543 nm He-Ne laser. The frequency of a internal-mirror 543 nm He-Ne laser was swept by utilizing the temperature and PZT change of the laser cavity length. Frequency modulation was applied to the output laser mirror with a PZT modulator for the third harmonic signal. A portion of the hyperfine spectrum originated from the R(12)26-0 and R(106)28-0 transitions of the B-X system of $^{127}I_2$ was observed as the third-derivative signal using a saturated absorption spectroscopy. The signal-to-noise ratio of a typical hyperfine spectrum signal was estimated to be 30:1.

Temporal and Spatial Variations of Size-structured Phytoplankton in the Asan Bay (아산만 식물플랑크톤 크기구조의 시.공간적 변동)

  • Samples were collected from five stations monthly from October 2003 to September 2004 to investigate seasonal variation of size structure of phytoplankton and relationship between size-fractionated phytoplankton and environmental factors in the Asan Bay. The contribution of large cells (microphytoplankton, $>20\;{\mu}m$) to total concentrations of chlorophyll $\alpha$ was higher than small cells (nanophytoplankton, $3\sim20\;{\mu}m$; picophytoplankton, $<3\;{\mu}m$) during the sampling period. Especially, large cells contributed 80% to the total chlorophyll a from February, 2004 to April 2004 when chlorophyll $\alpha$ concentrations were high. The size structure of phytoplankton shifted from micro-size class to nano-size class and picophytoplankton rapidly increased when phytoplankton biomass decreased in May 2004. Microphytoplankton exhibited a high biomass in the upper region during winter-spring season whereas nano- and picophytoplankton showed two peaks in the middle-lower regions (Station 3,5) during spring and summer. Microphytoplankton are most likely controlled by water temperature and nutrient supply during the cold season whereas nano- and picophytoplankton may be affected by stratification, light exposure during the warm season.

초미세 이중 금속 광공진기의 특성과 응용

  • 이 발표에서 우리는 수백 나노미터 크기인 두 개의 나노 금속 원반 또는 나노 블록이 백 나노미터 이하의 간격으로 결합된 초미세 이중 금속 플라즈몬 광공진기를 제안하고 그 응용을 살펴본다. 원반구조 경우, 반지름이 476 nm인 나노원반 두 개가 100 nm 두께의 유전체 원반의 양쪽에 위치하여 1550 nm 공진파장을 가진 표면 플라즈몬 whispering-gallery-mode (WGM)을 유전체 내에 형성한다. 유전체의 두께를 일정하게 유지할 경우, WGM의 공진파장은 원반의 반지름에 따라 줄어든다. 반면, 반지름이 일정할 때에는 두 금속 원반 사이의 유전체 두께가 줄어듦에 따라 두 금속 원반 사이에 작용하는 표면 플라즈몬의 결합이 강해져서 공진파장이 길어진다. 따라서, 일반적으로 공진기의 크기가 줄어듦에 따라 공진파장이 짧아지는 것과 달리, 제안된 원반구조에서 발생하는 WGM는 원반의 반지름과 유전체의 두께를 함께 줄여도 공진파장이 동일하게 유지되는 차별화된 특성을 가지고 있다. 최종적으로 같은 공진파장을 가지는 WGM를 반지름 88 m, 유전체 두께 10 nm의 공진기에서도 여기시킬 수 있음으로, 모드부피(V)를 1/160으로 줄일 수 있다. 이에 비해, 공진모드의 품위값(Q)은 증가된 금속의 흡수손실에 의해 1/3정도 줄어듦으로써, 공진기와 물질의 상호작용 정도를 보여주는 Q/V값은 크기가 줄어든 공진기에서 오히려 50배 가량 증가함을 확인할 수 있다. 이 같은 초미세 플라즈몬 공진기는 매우 작은 굴절율 센서로서 응용을 가지고 있으며, 1160 nm/(단위 굴절율 변화)의 높은 민감도를 보인다. 한편, $200{\times}150{\times}100nm3$의 크기를 가진 두 개의 금속 나노블록이 10 nm의 공기 간격을 가지고 결합된 나노 공진기는, 공기 간격 내에 강하게 집적된 838 nm의 공진파장을 가진 플라즈몬 공진기 모드를 여기시킨다. 제안된 공진모드는 공기간격이 줄어듦에 따라 공진파장이 급격하게 증가하는 특성을 가지므로 옹스토롬 정도의 분해능을 가진 두께 변화 센서로 응용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 공기간격 2 nm에서는 1A 두께 변화에 대해 공진파장 변화는 약 40 nm로 매우 민감하게 변화한다.

Mössbauer Study on Crystallographic and Magnetic Properties of Mechanical Alloying Fe-M(M=Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn) Powders (기계적 합금화한 Fe계 분말 특성에 관한 뫼스바우어 분광학적 연구)

  • Fe-based powders, Fe-M(M=Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn), were prepared in Ar gas by mechanical alloying and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction indicates that the cubic lattice parameter increases for the M substitution. The distance of closest approach around M can explained the increase of lattice constant in Fe-M powders. $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy measurements on Fe-M samples indicates the coexistence of ferromagnetic phases and paramagnetic phase that are created by the distribution of local environment M on Fe atom. On the other hand, The spread of line-width on $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectra can be explained by the distribution of hyperfine magnetic fields. The results of quadrupole shift and isomer shift revealed that M substitutions in Fe-M powders didn't change both structure and the local charge distribution around Fe atom severely.

Characterization of Supported Lipid Layers Using Atomic Force Microscopy (원자힘현미경을 이용한 지지 지질층의 특성규명)

  • The atomic force microscopy(AFM) has been used, as a powerful tool, to investigate physical properties of supported-lipid layers. Prior to the advent of the AFM, no observation was performed for the physical phenomena at the nanometer-scale. This microscope provides nanometer-scale morphology by scanning surfaces with the cantilever and presents force curve by monitoring the behavior of the cantilever that approaches to surface and retracts from the surface. From the morphology, the structures of the supported lipid layer and the effect of other molecules on the structures have been investigated. From the force curve, the surface properties-electrostatic and mechanical properties-of the supported lipid layers have been studied. In this article, characterization of the structure and surface properties of the supported lipid layer is explained. Future perspectives and direction are also discussed.
