Theoretical Analysis on the Synthesis of Ultrafine TiO2 Particles by Combustion Reaction (연소반응을 이용한 TiO2 초미립자 제조 공정에 대한 이론적 연구)

  • A numerical model has been proposed for a diffusion flame reactor to manufacture ultrafine $TiO_2$ powders. The model equations such as mass balance equation, the 0th, 1st, and 2nd moment equations of aerosols were considered. The phenomena such as $TiCl_4$ reaction rate, $TiO_2$ nucleation rate and the coagulation of $TiO_2$ powders were included in the aerosol dynamic equation. It is found that the $TiO_2$ particle concentration becomes higher, as the inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration and the total gas flow rate increase, and also as the flame temperature decreases. The $TiO_2$ particle size increases, as the flame temperature and the inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration increase and the total gas flow rate decreases.

  • Ferrite is widely used in the material of magnetic head, but is difficult of grinding because of their brittleness and hardness. Therefore, diamond wheel with superabrasive is required for surface grinding of this brittle material. But the conventional dressing method can not apply to the diamond wheel with superabrasive. In this study describes a newly proposed method for carrying out effective inprocess dressing of diamond wheel with superabrasive. Using the IEDD the surface roughness of workpiece was improved and grinding force was very low. Resently IEDD is good method to obtain the efficiency grinding and surface grinding of brittle materials.

  • Fine mullite powder was prepared by colloidal sol-gel route. Boehmite as a starting material of Al2O3 and silica sol or fumed silica as a starting material of SiO2 were used. $\alpha$-Al2O3, TiO2 and ZrO2 were used as seeding materials. The combination of boehmite and silica was found to be the stoichiometric mullite powder. Techniques for drying used were spray drying, freeze drying, reduced pressure evaporation and drying in a oven. The gelled powder was heated at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 100min and was attrition-milled for 1~3hrs. The mullite powder obtained was composed of submicrometer, uniform and spherical particles with a narrow size distribution. The mullite powder was characterized by BET, SEM, XRD and IR spectroscopy.

  • An optical sensor was developed to detect nanoparticles, turbid materials and microorganisms in water simultaneously. Three different light sources like UV-LED, NIR-LED and laser diode have been employed to develop the optical sensor based on the scattering light and fluorescence light. The sensor system has high selectivity and sensitivity, that it can be used to monitor the quality of drinking water.

  • Almost all concrete structures have many inevitable cracks for various reasons such as drying shrinkage, heat liberation of cement, fatigues or repeating loads and movements. Conventionally, they are repaired with epoxy materials. The Epoxy resins used by repair materials are different from properties of the base concrete materials such as thermal and mechanical properties - thermal expansion coefficients, bending strength. And the epoxy resin cannot release the water inside the concrete structure and cause corrosion of the steel bars. In this study, before the experiment got launched, we had analyzed cement and slag. Then We blended the two grades of ultra fine cement using high blaine cement and slag. And the cement slurry was produced by water and suprplasticizer to each blended ultra fine cement in various conditions. The slurry produced by each conditions was evaluated with flow properties such as viscosity, dropping time, segregation and observation of dry surface after injection.

  • The deposition characteristics of ultrafine $SiO_2$ particles were investigated in a tube furnace reactor theoretically and experimentally controlling tube wall temperature in deposition zone. The model equations such as mass and energy balance equations and aerosol dynamic equations inside reactor and deposition tube were solved to predict the particle growth and deposition. The particle size and deposition efficiencies of $SiO_2$ particles were calculated, changing the process conditions such as tube furnace setting temperature, total gas flow rate inlet $SiCl_4$ concentration and were compared with the experimental results.

  • We have investigated the fabrication of Si nanoparticles and $C_{60}$ thin films by pulsed laser ablation. By atomic force microscopy(AFM), the laser-deposited $C_{60}$ thin film was verified to have surface far smoother than the surfaces of films produced by the conventional evaporation method. The Si deposited at a He atmosphere of 0.2 Torr was with about $60{\AA}$ height of the Si nanoparticles, suggesting that it was uniformly deposited. We observed visible green emissions spectra in the $Si/C_{60}$ multilayer films after laser annealing. It is considered that this green emissions is occurred from SiC particles, which is produced reaction of Si nanoparticles with $C_{60}$ by laser annealing.

  • In recent years, grinding techniques for precision machining of stainless steel used in shaft, screw parts and clear value have been improved by using the superabrasive wheel and precision grinding machine. The completion of optimum dressing of superabrasive wheel makes possible the effective precision grinding of stainless steel. However, the present dressing system cannot have control of optimum dressing of the superabrasive wheel. In this study, a new system and the grinding mechanism of optimum in-process dressing of superabrasive wheel. Therefore, the optimum in-process electrolytic dressing is a good method to obtain the efficiency and mirror-like grinding of stainless steel (STS304)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속도로 대형 추돌사고의 원인이 되는 안개로 인한 시정거리 악화를 개선하기 위한 방법으로 염화칼슘 연소탄, 초미립자 살포기, 강풍기, 건조공기 등을 이용한 안개소산 시스템에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 국내 환경에 적합한 안개소산 시스템을 개발하기 위해 다양한 안개소산 방법에 대한 현장 성능실험을 통해 검증하였고 강풍기와 열풍기를 결합하여 생성한 건조공기를 통해 공기중의 상대습도를 떨어뜨려 안개를 소산하는 방식이 시정거리 개선효과가 우수하였으며 이를 통해 고속도로 및 터널의 출입구 등 안개 발생으로 운전자의 시정거리가 낮아져 발생하는 사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • This study is aimed to obtain fundamental knowledge of pulse laser welding phenomena the authors investigated the structure and composition of evaporated particles of Al alloys in air and in the Ar atmosphere during pulsed laser welding. The ultra-fine particles of 5 to 100nm diameter in a globular or irregular shape were formed in laser-induced plasma and the main structure was $MgAl_2O_4$ The composition of particles was ifferent depending on the power density of a laser beam; namely under the low power density conditions magnesium was predominant in the parti-cles while aluminium content increased with an increase in the power density. These results were attributed to evaporation phenomena of metals with different boiling points and latent heats of vaporization. On the other hand the number density of laser-induced plasma species was obtained by Saha's equation. it was confirmed that the number density depends upon the plasma tempera-ture and total pressures.
