  • This study is about the direction of how to compose the information domain curriculum in the domestic subject matter centered curriculum system. To this end, subject-centered and competency-centered curriculum were compared and analyzed, and how the information domain was organized in two types was suggested. In spite of emphasizing competency, the domestic curriculum was judged to be inclined to the subject-centered curriculum because it emphasized the presentation of national-level educational goals, a subject learning model, and textbooks. As examples of the information domain subject-centered curriculum, the information domain of the elementary practical subject and the middle school information curriculum were presented, and the SW convergence curriculum was presented as an example of a progressive curriculum. Under such circumstances, it was emphasized that in order for the learner to lead a life in an intelligent society in the future through the information domain including SWAI content, it must be explicitly described in a subject-centered perspective with computer science as the parent study.

  • This study has been historically reviewed the clothing and textiles education through references. The clothing and textiles education had been informally offered as a part of household skill, skill of daily life and home skill before the law of school education was established. Therefore, we have reviewed the changes in the clothing and textiles education by separating the prior period between the end of the old Korea and the liberation in 1945, from the later period from the liberation up to now. And also contents of clothing and textiles education between before and after the revision of the 7th curriculum were compared and analyzed. The clothing and textiles education had put emphasis on sewing, handicraft and household during the prior period from the end of the old Korea to the liberation, but after liberation, it became involved in Home Economics Education. The number of classes and the contents of clothing and textiles education had been increased and deepened from the 1st term to the 5th term of curriculum. In particular, the 4th and 5th term of curriculum became a turning point where home life section was intensified. Even though the number of classes was reduced during the 6th term of curriculum, with increase in target school grades for this education, and Home Economics in the middle school remained an independent subject matter. However, during the 7th term of curriculum, Technology-Home Economics Education in the middle school courses led to losing independent subject name and shrinking its contents. Through the revision in the 7th curriculum, the clothing and textiles education achieved great improvement and progress by gaining balance in distribution of contents among school grades and balance between theory and practice. However it still remains as an issue to be more studied and resolved how well the contents are matched with the interests and attention of students. We need to consider and reflect request of students under learner-centered curriculum. Considering enormous changes in the environment surrounding the clothing and textiles education, it is crystal clear that the gap between existing contents of education and teaching methods and our real life will be widened. Because students' perceptions of value have been diversified, it is our task to develop better contents and learning system in order to help students have interests, attention and desire in clothing and textiles life in line with social needs for desirable clothing and textiles education.

The factors of appropriateness were the amounts of learning, the degrees of understanding, interest and requirement on the educational content recognized by elementary, middle and high school students. The data collected from evaluation sheets were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, crossing analysis using SPSSWIN 12.0 program. Results were as follows; First. more than 50% of elementary, middle and high school students were recognized the amounts of tearing of clothing & textiles proper. But boy students of middle school recognized 'making clothes' in practice course too heavy. Second. It were from easy to difficult that the degrees of understanding on the educational contents of clothing & textiles recognized by elementary school students. Elementary school students understood both 'making cushion' and 'sewing machine theory and practice' difficult. Middle school students understood 'basic sewing for repairing clothes' and 'making clothes' difficult whereas high school students thought 'making pillow' and 'making bag' difficult. All students understood practice courses hard. Third, the degrees of interest showed from 'interest' level to 'not interest' level in case of elementary school students whereas 'interest' level in middle school students and 'common' in high school students. Fourth, the requirements of elementary, middle and high school students were in 'necessary' level to 'common' level. Editional contents such as 'learning sewing machine', 'making cushions'. 'making clothes', and 'making pillow-cover and bag' were low in the degrees of requirement. The correlationship between the amount of learning and the each level of understand, interest and requirement of students was indirect. • The contents of clothing and textiles area of elementary home economics textbooks from 1948 to 1955 were investigated. Home economics of elementary school education in those days corresponds to practice acts of elementary school education in present. Practical acts has the all-around concepts of the agriculture, industry and home economics Also the knowledge or skill for actual life are teamed. Practical acts education was started from lessons of sewing for women under title of 'jaebong'. It can be said that practical acts education was started from clothing and textiles area. The home economics elementary textbooks of the year 1948 were composed of 21 units for 5th grade and 22 units for 6th grade. The textbook for 5th grade of 1953 was composed of 19 units, and one for 6th grade of 1955 was composed of 18 units. The clothing and textiles area accounts for 38.6% in 5th grade textbook, for 32% in 6th grade textbook of 1948 and for 31% in 5th grade of 1953 and 6th grade textbooks of 1955. The textbook contents of clothing and textiles area were classified into five fields of sewing, knitting. patching, embroidering and care. In 1948, textbooks were placed a great deal of weight on sewing field education as 7 units of 15 units. The 7 units for sewing fields have suitable connection to develop. But, in the case of knitting, patching or care, just groundwork of each field was included for application to actual life without vertical connection. The contents of textbooks for clothing and textiles area in 1953 and 1955 were much alike with those in 1948.
