There is a lot of research about adult gender issues for the purpose of customer analysis to increase business profits. However, there is little research about the gender factor in web-based instruction or educational web sites. Elementary school children are beginning to experience the Internet. In this study, we consider the analysis of the use and perception of the Internet based on gender differences, and discuss concrete guidelines in regards to elementary school pupil and therefore create Web Based Instruction or Educational Web Contents.

  • The daily life activities of primary school children have been increasingly diversified. This research examined the spatio-temporal characteristics of primary school children's daily life activities. The time allocation of primary school children's daily activities was monotonous. They tended to spend most of their time in school activities, private lessons after school, and studying at home. The daily trip to school has been diversified as the result the of increase in the number of double-income families, car owners, facilities for pastime, and educational facilities for private lessons after school. The selection of educational facilities for private lessons was strongly influenced by accessibility to the residence because of the limited time budget of primary school children and the controlled trip behavior by parents. The leisure activities were considered as a minor function and took place in the interval of performances of study-related activities. The high proportion of leisure activities was found in the indoor play. The amount of the time for leisure activity was very insufficient. The spatial range and time budget were strongly influenced by the institutional conditions of parents.

To this end, data of 538 female employees with children younger than elementary school students were analyzed using the sixth data of the Korean Women Manager Panel. According to the analysis, the type of family-friendly system such as time flexibility system, career flexibility system, and worker support system all showed significant adjustment effect in relation to workplace-family conflict and work life satisfaction. The career flexibility system was the only one that showed a control effect on family life satisfaction. To help talented female workers work for their children without severing their careers, the government proposed active support for businesses and the government to help them use the family-friendly system.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factors associated with the experience of bullying victimization in school among elementary school students in the Jeju area. Methods : A total of 662 students were recruited from elementary schools for a school-based cross-sectional survey (age range : 11-12 years) in the Jeju area. This study used a self-reported questionnaire concerning the experience of being victimized by bullying, the Korean form of the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) to assess depressive symptoms, and questions on sociodemographic characteristics, including school- and family-related factors. Results : The prevalence of bullying victimization in school among elementary school students was 10.0% (n=66). The factors associated with bullying victimization were lower socioeconomic status, lower than average academic achievement, more depressive symptoms, and family problems. Conclusion : This study not only indicates that bullying at school is a significant public health issue among elementary school students, but also confirms that children with family problems commonly exhibit bullying behaviors, which highlights the importance of considering family-related environmental factors when managing bullying victimization.

  • As computational thinking has been noted as an important competency worldwide, SW education was introduced in the 2015 revised curriculum, and SW education has been applied to the curriculum from 2018. However, in a poor educational environment, the educationally underprivileged class is in the blind spot of SW education and is not receiving systematic SW education. Therefore, this study analyzed the effect of conducting a non-face-to-face SW online education program for 267 underprivileged elementary school students in education at a time when non-face-to-face online education was being conducted through the COVID-19 mass infectious disease. As a result of conducting the computational thinking ability test, which abstraction, problem decomposition, algorithm, automation, and data processing, before and after education, the overall score of computational thinking and the score of all five factors were statistically significantly increased(p<0.001). Among the five factors, there was the highest score improvement in data processing score. These results suggest that the non-face-to-face SW online education program is effective in improving the computational thinking ability of elementary school students from the educational underprivileged class.

  • This study extracts the plan that is suitable to open education through the assessment and analysis of the open education environment. For this, the questionnaire survey of teachers at the elementary school in Kyengsang-bukdo was used. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1) In the estimation of satisfaction on the classroom environment for open education, although the score of "Comfortableness" is high, the scores of "Variety", "Convenience", and "Silence" are low in satisfaction. 2) The image on the classroom environment is highly regarded in general in "Stability", "Nobleness" and "Activity". However, it is necessary to devise some methods to improve the image on "Stability", when removing the wall between classrooms and corridors. 3) To improve the satisfaction and image associated with classroom environment, it is important to maintain suitable size of school and density of classroom. 4) The factors of satisfaction and those of image are correlated each other. Thus, to enhance the total image on the open class, it is necessary to improve the whole classroom environment.

  • Purpose: Autism spectrum disorder impacts children's social, sensory, and language development, necessitating specialized educational support. Special classrooms play a crucial role in providing an appropriate learning environment for children with autism. However, there is a lack of systematic research on creating effective environments in these special classrooms. Methods: This study aims to gain a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the environmental composition of special classrooms for children with autism spectrum disorder, using the following systematic methodologies including literature review and case study. Results: Sensory spaces in special classrooms for children with autism help regulate sensory stimuli and promote sensory development. They provide stability, reducing stress from excessive stimuli, and enhance emotional stability. These spaces also promote communication and interaction among children and expand the diversity of learning activities, enriching experiences and stimulating interest in learning. Implications: Based on the results, we propose suggestions for improving the environment of special classrooms for children with autism spectrum disorder and provide direction for the design of such environments.

This study is also expected to provide basic informations for the promotion of the happiness and optimism of elementary school students. The subjects were 495 fifth and sixth graders from 10 primary schools located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurement were the savoring test, the happiness test and the optimism test. The collected data was analyzed using the i-STATistics program(Kim & Baker, 2012). The study results were as followings: First, female students had higher scores than male students in the savoring test, the happiness test and the optimism test. And there were significant gender differences in savoring, happiness and optimism. Second, there was a significantly positive correlation between savoring and happiness(home environment, self-attributes, abilities, and interpersonal relationships) at the level of p<0.001. And the regression analysis result showed that savoring contains explanatory power of 60.70% for happiness. Third, there was a significantly positive correlation between savoring and optimism(expectations for the future) at the level of p<0.001. And the regression analysis result showed that savoring contains explanatory power of 66.51% for optimism. The result of this study shows that savoring has a high correlation to happiness and optimism. Happiness and optimism of children can be enhanced by increasing savoring. Therefore, the development and verification of savoring program for children is required.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing stress coping behaviors of elementary students in Korea. Methods: This study used a descriptive comparative survey design. A total of 1,161 elementary students voluntarily participated in the study from 10 schools at three regional levels (large and medium-sized cities, and rural towns). Coping behaviors were measured by the modified Ways of Coping Checklist. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The most commonly used stress coping behavior reported by the participants was mystic coping, followed by positive coping, and negative coping. Students living in the large city and female students tended to use more coping behaviors than students living in the medium-sized city or rural towns and male students, respectively. Positive coping behaviors were associated with high school performance while myotic coping behaviors were associated high life satisfaction. Conclusion: Elementary students who are males, dissatisfied with their lives, or living in large cities or rural towns tended to be at risk for poor coping. There were differences in factors influencing coping behaviors by type of coping behaviors. An approach to building a successful coping behavior that is specifically tailored to the gender subsets of population and region-specific social and physical environment is recommended.
