최근 정부가 창업기업에게 3년간 공공금융기관 등을 통해 약 100조원 투입하였으며, 금융위원회가 신용보증기관과 산업은행 등 정책금융 등의 많은 창업지원 자금을 통해 약 35조원을 지원하는 등 최근 3년간(2015년~2018년) 창업기업에 약 100조원 이상을 지원하였다. 실제로 중소기업청의 지원예산 중 스타트업 지원 비중은 85%에 달한 반면 스케일업(성장·성숙기)지원은 15%에 불과하다. 그러나 국내 창업기업의 생존율은 선진국에 비해 턱없이 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 창업 후 3년간 생존율은 39.1%로 10곳 중 4곳 정도만 살아남는 것으로 조사되었고, 5년간 살아남을 확률은 27.5% 10곳 중 3곳 정도만 살아남는다. 반면 해외 창업기업들은 5년간 창업기업 생존율은 우리나라의 2배에 달한다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 최근 정부의 적극적인 지원이 이루어지고 있는 초기창업자에 대한 연구의 필요성과 함께 창업동기와 창업준비가 사업계속의도에 미치는 영향관계에서 창업만족도의 매개역할에 관한 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고 살펴보고자 한다. 또한, 초기창업자의 창업동기와 창업준비에 기초하여 창업을 한 후에 창업에 대한 만족도를 높일 수 있는 방법보다는 창업 전 부터 사전 준비의 필요성을 고찰하고자 한다. 이러한 관점에서 실무적 시사점을 도출하고, 초기창업자들의 창업만족도를 높이고 계속 가능한 창업수행을 할 수 있도록 유용한 정책적 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

자금 조달은 창업자에게 매우 큰 과제이다. 본 연구는 창업 및 초기 단계의 회사에서 자금 조달의 상태, 엔젤투자와 창업 초기 단계 회사의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 지난 10년 동안의 데이터를 이용하여 분석한 결과, 엔젤투자와 창업 초기 단계 회사의 창업과는 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다.

2020년 8월 중소벤처기업부는 '20년 상반기 벤처기업 및 벤처투자 받은 기업의 일자리 동향, 벤처투자 및 펀드결성 동향 등을 분석한 결과 '20년 상반기 혁신 벤처·스타트업의 투자는 줄었지만, 일자리는 늘어난 것으로 분석됐다. 이는 전년 동월대비 1.3%(35.2만명) 감소한 것을 고려하면 괄목할 만한 성장으로, 코로나19로 인해 어려운 상황에서도 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 국가 중에서 경제성장률 감소폭이 적었던 것은 창업기업이 우리 경제의 버팀목 역할을 하고 있기 때문으로 풀이된다(중소벤처깅업부, 2020). 예비 창업기업 및 초기 창업기업을 위한 전문보육 및 투자를 맞춤형 패키지로 지원하는 엑셀러레이터의 역할은 대중화된 창업생태계 속에서 기대효과가 크다(김선우, 2015). 2020년 8월에 개정된 벤처투자총진법 시행은 액셀러레이터의 제도가 구체화 되고 초기 창업기업에 대한 투자가 보다 활발해져 실질적인 지원이 가능해 질 것을 기대된다. 이러한 액셀러레이터에 대한 관심은 선행연구에서도 나타나고 있다. 국내의 엑셀러레이터는 빠른 확산에도 불구하고 아직까지 그 효과가 검증되지 않은 상황이며, 엑셀러레이터의 지원성과를 객관적으로 평가할 수 있는 체계가 요구되고 있다(김용재, 2014). 액셀러레이터 지원 및 역량과 초기창업기업 성과 간의 연관성을 연구할 필요한 연관성이 있다고 제시한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 최근 3년 이내 스타트업 액셀러레이터로부터 보육 및 투자지원을 받은 초기창업기업 관계자를 대상으로 초기 창업기업 성과와 액셀러레이터 지원간에 관계에서 액셀러레이터 역량이 어떤 역할을 하는지에 대해 분석하고 자 한다.

This study is aim to explore the key variables that can improve the relationship between mentor-mentee fit and the relationship of mentor-mentee fit as a prerequisite in improving entrepreneurial intention. In addition, the mediating effect of entrepreneurship was verified in the process of mentee-mentor suitability inducing entrepreneurial will. To verify this, a survey was conducted on per-founders and early founders. The results of this study are as follows. First, in relation to the measures to improve the entrepreneurial will, mentor-mentee suitability was verified to have a positive effect on entrepreneurial will through entrepreneurship. Second, it was verified that mentor-mentee fit had a positive effect on the formation of entrepreneurship; third, entrepreneurship could have a direct effect on the intention of entrepreneurship. This study suggests that the more mentor-mentee fits entrepreneurs, the better the level of entrepreneurship. In addition, high level of entrepreneurship can play a role in further promoting the will to start a business.

This study examines the performance of the successful small and medium size firms in their early stage. No sign of widespread chasm or the death valley among the sample firm is identified. More than half the sample firms had made reasonable forecast on the uncertainty of their future business before they were incorporated. Overall results of empirical studies carried out in this article allow us to assert that the difficulties experienced in the early stage are mostly manageable within the organization. This implies that the Government support for start-ups in early stage should be discouraged. Empirical investigation across different periods reveals, however, that the Government may have significant roles to play when it comes down to controlling the macroeconomic shocks.

Recently, the government provided about 35 trillion won to start-ups through a large amount of start-up support funds from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund and the Korea Development Bank, and more than 100 trillion won to start-ups over the past three years.(2015-2018) The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that a total of 1.4517 trillion won will be supported by 16 ministries (90 projects) after surveying start-up support projects by ministries in 2020 to create a start-up country. Indeed, among the budgets supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, startups accounted for 85%, while scale-ups (growth and maturity) were only 15%. However, the survival rate of Korean start-ups was far lower than that of developed countries. The survival rate for the three years after the start-up was 39.1 percent, with only about 4 out of 10 surviving, with 27.5 percent surviving for five years, and only 3 out of 10 surviving. On the other hand, overseas start-ups have a survival rate of twice as high as that of Korea for five years. Accordingly, this study aims to empirically analyze and examine the need for research on nascent entrepreneurs, which have recently been actively supported by the government, as well as the impact of start-up motivation and start-up preparation on the intention to continue business. The survey was conducted from April 1 to May 15, 2020 for nascent entrepreneurs nationwide, and 222 of the total 245 copies were analyzed, and the questionnaire was measured using the Likert 5-point scale. As a result of the analysis, first, all factors constituting start-up motivation were adopted by significantly affecting start-up satisfaction. In addition, among the sub-factors of nascent entrepreneurs' preparation, item preparation was adopted as a significant influence on start-up satisfaction. Second, the nascent entrepreneurs' satisfaction level was adopted by having a significant impact on the business continuity. Third, some of the motivations for self-realization of the motivation for start-ups were adopted by having a significant impact on the business continuity. In addition, the preparation of items for the start-up preparation of nascent entrepreneurs was partially adopted as they had a significant impact on the business continuity. Fourth, it was adopted by the mediation effect of start-up satisfaction between the motivation of the nascent entrepreneurs' preparation and the business continuity. In addition, it was adopted by the medium effect of start-up satisfaction between the nascent entrepreneurs' preparation and the business continuity. Based on the results of these studies, it is intended to draw practical implications, and to provide useful policy implications to increase nascent entrepreneurs' satisfaction and continue to carry out their start-ups.

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of entrepreneurs and organizations related to the initial investment stage of IT-based entrepreneurs. Specifically, we examine the effects of founder-related characteristics such as background and experience of founders on the initial investment stage and explore how the organizational characteristics such as finance, human, and technology resources affect initial investment of start-up enterprise. To accomplish this study purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted on entrepreneurs who were actually invested by government, angel, and VC. A total of 295 data were used for hypothesis testing, and the hypothesis was tested by hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that founders who had experience of investment before or experienced in technology development had a significant influence on initial investment stage. In addition, it was confirmed that factors such as financial, human, and technology resources had significant positive effects on the initial investment stage. The results of this study make it possible to identify the competencies and characteristics required to attract investment to potential founders preparing for start-up in the future. It also provides information on how to formulate an effective human resource composition plan. Also, these results can be used as a basis for investment decision-making by providing investors with guidelines on investment selection criteria.

본 연구는 초기 스타트업의 제한된 자원으로 겪게 되는 어려움을 극복하는 과정을 이해하기 위해 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping)방법을 적용하여, 한양대학교 학생창업 기업인 (주)블랙루비 스튜디오 사례를 통해 설명하고자 하였다. 스타트업 초기 겪게 되는 자원 조달에 대한 문제는 끊임없이 반복되어 오고 있는 연구 주제이다. 이와 같은 문제에도 불구하고 스타트업의 초기 어려움을 극복하는 과정을 자세히 설명하는 연구들은 비교적 많지 않다. 스타트업들이 창업을 시작할 때, 부족한 자금과 제한된 자원을 해결하기 위한 방법으로 외부의 자금 유입을 줄여 위험을 감소시키고 내부적으로 자금 문제를 해결하는 방법인 부트스트래핑에 의존하게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 스타트업의 부트스트래핑 개념을 이해하기 위해 관련된 선행연구 검토와 부트스트래핑에 관한 Winborg와 Landstrom(2001)의 연구에서 제시된 32개의 세부 항목별 부트스트래핑 방법을 바탕으로 블랙루비 스튜디오의 사례에 적용시켜 연구를 진행하였다. 창업자인 소재우 대표와의 수 차례의 인터뷰를 통해 스타트업의 생존을 위한 부트스트래핑 방법 활용과 창업 초기 어려움을 극복하는 과정을 면밀히 분석하여 예비창업자들에게 통찰력 있는 시사점을 전한다.

정보통신기술(ICT - Information and Communications Technology)의 발달, 정부와 민간의 스타트업 발굴 및 투자 규모의 확대로 인해 혁신적인 아이디어를 기반으로 우수한 성과를 창출하는 스타트업들이 증가하고 있다. 이를 롤모델로 삼고 창업을 준비하는 예비 창업자들도 지속적으로 증가하고 있으나, 성공을 경험으로 연쇄창업을 도전하는 창업자와 달리 초기 스타트업들은 팀원 채용, 기술 개발, 자금 유치 등 다양한 문제에 직면하게 된다. 엑셀러레이터는 스타트업들이 직면하게 되는 다양한 문제 해결을 돕기 위해 교육, 멘토링, 컨설팅, 네트워크 연계, 초기 투자 등의 활동을 통해 스타트업이 성장할 수 있도록 멘토와 투자자의 역할을 동시에 수행한다. 본 연구의 목적은 스타트업의 특성과 창업성과과 어떠한 상관관계를 가지고 있는가를 조사하고, 엑셀러레이터의 역할이 스타트업의 창업성과에 매개역할을 하는지 분석 하는데 있다. 최근 국내에서는 다시 벤처 붐이 일어나고 있으며, 유니콘 기업의 양적 질적 증가, 정부 지원을 통한 초기 스타트업의 성과 등 창업생태계에서 의미 있는 지표들을 볼 수 있다. 스타트업의 성과와 관련된 지표들은 직/간접적으로 엑셀러레이터와 관련이 있으나, 그동안 국내에서 창업성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 스타트업의 창업가의 기업가정신이나 창업가의 역량을 기반으로 주로 연구하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 스타트업의 특성으로 대표되는 독립변수 혁신성, 조직 문화, 재무적 특성, 네트워크 지향성과 학습지향성이 종속변수인 창업성과에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설을 검증하며 매개변수인 엑셀러레이터의 역할의 효과를 확인하고자 한다.
